About
Mirage Country Club is rated one of the truly great resort courses. The 6200m course is made up of 6 x par threes, 6 x par fours and 6 x par fives. The unique layout takes players through the majestic grounds of the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort for much of the front nine, with 2 fairways adjacent to the famous Four Mile Beach whilst the back nine is fringed by a panoramic and beautiful mountain backdrop. Designed by 5 times British Open winner Peter Thomson together with renowned architect Michael Wolveridge, it is iconic to Port Douglas and Australian golf. Featuring golf bag drop off, first class hire clubs, Aquatic Driving range and beautiful practice putting greens the clubhouse experience is world class. Whilst nurturing membership visitors, casual use golfers and corporate experience are also core business and enquiries are always welcomed.

A good course but at present sub standard.
The course layout is good with quite challenging holes . The greens are some of the slowest I’ve played on and they look like they could be cut quite a lot lower. The course at present is substandard as 2 holes are virtually out of action, with one hole closed completely. They should have reduced the green fee as a result, but they haven’t.
The tees are in General poor condition but the fairways are good. For the price it’s expensive but if you’re in Port Douglas I would still play here. You need to book in advance as tee off times are limited apparently.

Thanks Andrew, The 11th green was closed at the time of your visit, however there were 18 greens in play. The Mirage has 21 greens on Course to counter any renovations. Unfortunately you may have not been informed, or missed the signage on the 10th tee regarding Course set up for the back nine. We appreciate your feedback, the original greens are being replaced, 5 so far, more in the future. We have also opened 5 new tee blocks in the last two weeks. Thanks for your review.

Paid $150 for 18 holes which is terrible value. Currently this is an average back country course at best. Maintenance and up keep is really lacking.

Thanks for your review Nigel, $149 included 18 holes, an electric cart, a full set of clubs, balls, tees and a water. Compared to other clubs that is very competitive value. Regretfully the Course wasn't up to your standards. Regards

The ladies behind the desk are lovely but the guy (Harry) who sets up your cart and clubs is the rudest individual I’ve ever met. We booked a 3pm time slot as we’re novice players and had young boys with us and didn’t want to slow anyone down. Harry was friendly to the people that were in front of us but as soon as he saw an ethnic group rock up, his whole mood changed. The way he spoke to us was disgusting and racial I’ll never recommend anyone to come here, he even followed us out on the course to see if we were doing the right thing and which I found it to be odd. When we returned the carts and clubs to Harry we said thank you and he didn’t even respond all he did was look at us with disgust. Definitely won’t be coming here ever again.

Course is great, fantastic to play on. Terrible staff, stuck up and rude. Ruined the experience. Unfortunately not value for money.

The pro shop service was fine, and from there it was all down hill. Bruce the cart and hire club attendant was surly and unwelcoming. The lady behind the bar couldn't smile when taking our money. The course was in very poor condition. The greens were substandard, the fairways only okay. At the end of the round after spending $900 we couldn't even buy a cold drink as the bar was closed at 430pm due to the fact ' no one was left ' on the course. Avoid this place, it is a huge embarrassment for Port Douglas tourism and hospitality industry.

The course and resort layout is good with a lot of enjoyable holes but the condition of the greens is far worse than a few years ago. They were slow, had bare patches, uneven and pace was inconsistent. Fun for a social round and the crocs are a bit of a novelty.

Surprised at how run down and poorly maintained the facilities are. You could almost think the club was abandoned driving into the car park. Rental clubs passed their use-by date with multiple brands in the one bag, and rude staff to top it off.

I get it, coming out of COVID has affected everyone, looking after a championship layout requires lots of staff and many hours of toil. While all bunkers were raked and in good condition, fairways lush and cut well the greens on the front nine (I played during maintenance I think) were dreadful. Patchy, muddy, marked and in need of work. Very disappointed so be wary of playing in May/June. I wish the Club the best in fixing them and bringing them up to a better standard. Still worth a good, but that’s all from me.

Having played both PD courses, I believe the Mirage to be superior. The front nine winds amongst the resort and features some challenging but non memorable holes, but the back nine with water in play and mountain views is much more enjoyable.
The condition of the greens was pretty average but this isnt unusual in the tropics. The hire clubs were showing their age and the service in the shop was pleasant but at a cost of $120 for the game, clubs and cart, I left thinking the entire experience was just ok.
