The reason why I have only given 4* is because of the 1 hour bus trip in both directions from Cairns. The diving, choice of reef and organisation as well as the staff were first rate. Unfortunately no turtles no sharks though some of our group did see one, but some of the coral was badly bleached and dead. Apart from the bus, a wonderful experience.

Finally got one of my dream things todo Snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef best thing Iv'e done for ages my partner loved the different sizes of fish and colours was wicked the cruise company Quick Silver highly recommend them morning tea ,big lunch and afternoon snacks plus snorkeling until they sound the horn plus the glass bottom boat also you can dive but that's extra same as the Helicopter ride, they also have the diving helmets that you put on and go under water on the platform for none swimmers while they are standing on the platform they feed the fish. They put food on the helmets and the fish eat of the helmets. IT'S a full day but worth it

Went with Quicksilver tours to the reef, although it was full of people there was plenty of space out at the reef site.
People had a great choice of scuba diving , snorkelling or travelling in a submerged viewing station.
Everything was provided so you could relax and enjoy the scenery. The food was sufficient and of a good choice.
Would recommend the tour with a marine biologist, who explained the impact of climate change and the various fish and sea creatures we encountered.

My brief to the information site that we booked out tour to the Great Barrier Reef through was I wanted as much time on the water as possible and I didn’t want to be put on a pontoon with hundreds of people and kids in submarines or anything else- all I wanted to do is snorkel.
So the Quick Silver Group was recommended by them. We were booked on the Silver Sonic boat out of Port Douglas. It was an hour and a half out to Argincourt reef system. Our boat was about Âľ full. The boat was large, smooth and comfortable. We were fitted up with mask, snorkel and stinger suit before we got out there. There was tea/coffee, snacks and lunch provided. The lunch was relatively simple but adequate. There was plenty of it.
It was an easy move from the boat into the water each stop – we had 3. The water was clear- visibility was huge. The fish life was prolific and the coral varied. We saw a turtle but no sharks. The water was beautifully warm. We had no stings that we were aware of. But when we got back to our hotel and over the next few days, we had got numerous lice bites that were extremely itchy.
The last snorkel, we were offered a tour with the marine biologist on board. We took them up on this offer and it was so interesting- all sorts of things pointed out that we hadn’t even thought of.
We left port at about 8.30am and we were back by 4.30pm.
We felt well cared for, catered for and overall it was a great day

I took Poseidon the Quicksilver Dive and snorkel boat. Fantastic day at the reef. I was recommended not to go by the Hotel as it was red (weather forecast) day for high swells and winds. It did seem long, but not too bad. When at the reef I did 3 dives.
The reef was stunning. I have dived 3 other reefs. I think this is better than Hashtags Reef, the main one visited from Cairns. There are still loads of fish as my first visit 30 years ago. Less giant clams though. Still we saw huge colourful groups of Wrase, Parrot , Angel and many other fish I don’t know. Just one turtle and 2 reef sharks though. Saw humpback whales on route out which was exciting
Poseidon have a great dive boat. Gordon and Chris are both good Dive masters, thoroughly checking your equipment and sorting issues quickly. My first regulator had a leak. It was all fixed after the final check, changes reg, refilled bottle, done in under 5 minutes so none of the group were delayed

After expecting great things from this remote site, I found the visibility poor at 15m or less over 6 dives in two days. This followed three weeks of great weather, so it should have been way better.
Fish life and corals etc were no better than many places I have dived around the world. In fact, I thought the fish, plants and corals were mostly minimal. I actually cancelled my third day of diving as it simply wasn't worth it.

What a really great experience and day. My wife went snorkeling for the first time and we both encountered our first helicopter flight over the reef. A truly remarkable experience. The whole day was made great by the friendly staff on board our vessel and whilst we were on the pontoon.

We visited Agincourt on a fairly rough day but it was still worthwhile. We saw a reef shark, a number of turtles and a variety of fish. Well controlled snorkelling and dive area. Good for beginnners.

The agincourt reef was spectacular. The array of beautiful marine life and the stunning coral (still much of which has colour) was such a wonderful experience. As my first time snorkeling, I was a little worried about trying it out but needn’t have been. They provide life jackets which help keep you at the top of the water and it’s easy to go. The underwater sub was also beautiful and we were lucky enough to see 3 sea turtles! The lunch was good enough and the bar was surprisingly cheap. We didn’t take the cruise so can’t comment on that but the whole experience was just brilliant. Definitely recommend as a must do in your lifetime.

Is this trip suitable for a 2 year old baby?

We took our 2 year old along and she loved it! She was fine on the trip out and back, and loved seeing the fish feeding, riding on the semi submersible - she loved looking out at the coral and all the fish! So yes, I'd happily take her again!

Hi, I'm considering a visit to Agincourt Reef and have a couple of questions , if you wouldn't mind answering. Did you have to take towels or are they provided, was food provided as part of the cost? Thanks in advance, Tom.
Written 18 December 2017
We took Quicksilver to the reef. I believe we brought our own towel, but anything else you would need was provided. The transport on their charter bus from our resort to the port was included. Tea and biscuits were offered upon boarding in the morning. They offered anti-sea sickness medication at this time as well, if needed, for a small fee. Lunch was included, and served buffet style at the reef. There is also a photographer on hand, and you can buy your pictures at the end of the day if you want.

Are there any reef tours under $100 per person around?
Written 29 October 2016
Not sure of current prices but, should you be faced with a choice, we much preferred the Low Isles to Agincourt Reef. Both good but Low Isles was excellent.

Hi Nicole, who did you dive/snorkel with?
Thanks :)

I sailed out of port Douglass on a large ship Poseidon.
Stunning ship great journey fab views.
I hired the equipment on board a diver suit with mask and snorkel.
Its not expensive. You do not have to use the suit but id advise it because of jellyfish, it only takes one to spoil your journey!
I chose a helicopter flight back and sat next to the pilot! Who is now in my family album. Stunning views and a must ..... do.
Enjoy your trip as i intend to return from the uk.
Im in Whitby the east cost of Yorkshire England 05.11.16 today visiting the history of captain cook who set sail and discovered Australia, new Zealand, Hawaii.
Good luck

I am deciding on which reef to choose. I am a non-swimmer but I want to do a helmet dive and am interested to know which are the most colourful reefs and probably where I have better chances of seeing some sea turtles! ;)

Agincourt Reef! Go with Quick Silver cruise, they will definitely look into your interest. I saw a sea turtle and more when I visited recently.
