It's pretty obvious from the outset these guys are focussed on getting you the best experience possible on the reef.
Steve the captain is a fisherman with plenty of experience & Kale the Deckhand were both fishermen by heart and go the extra mile to try and make it a memorable experience.
We moved regularly based on the tide and what we were catching, there was a range of different fish and all sizes.
The sharks did make it a little difficult on occasion to get all fish on board but obviously they can't control that.
The gear was reasonable and plenty of bait to go around.
Plenty of room on the mostly covered deck & limited numbers of 14 seen the boat busy on hookups, however both crew were awesome, very attentive & helping all the time especially with the inexperienced.
The boat was clean & tidy (thanks to Kale continuous cleaning and taking pride in his work), a good sized lunch was provided (2 × rolls, a couple of chicken pieces & cake) along with a Softdrink (limited to lemonade and only 1 each unfortunately) & water, I would suggest taking a snack for mid morning if you are used to eating then) & maybe a beer if that's what you need....
Overall I really respect the work they must put in day after day and would recommend these guys when you're in PD.

My wife and I had an amazing day fishing with the team from Dragon Lady Fishing.
The crew were friendly and helpful. They worked hard to make sure everyone was catching fish. It's around a 1.5hr trip to get to the fishing ground on the outer reef but it was well worth it. All day people were steadily catching fish. We caught a huge variety of fish from tiny fish to a shark and everything in-between. My wife caught a very good size reef fish and the crew were amazing in assisting her to land it. It's a fishing trip that we will truly remember for along time and next time we are back in NQ a fishing charter will be high on the agenda.
As soon as the sharks moved in or the fishing slowed down the crew moved the boat to another spot. Almost every spot we went to as soon as I dropped a line in I hooked a fish. It was a very exciting day.
The boat was clean, equipment was good, lunch was great and I didn't feel like it was over crowded. They provided water and soft drink but I would suggest bringing some snacks (which they did mention when I booked).
all in all a very enjoyable day.

Captain Steve & crew (skipper & deckhand) were helpful, friendly and ever on hand to assist in landing that fish on the end of the line! Things were a bit quiet to start with but the boat was moved to ensure suicidal fish were found & caught. What an adrenaline rush when I hooked a big Nannygai and with the (lots of) help from Freddie, got it on board - catch of the day! When we arrived back in Harbour, our catches had been cleaned & bagged ready to take home for eating. A great day out & I’m now hooked on fishing (to my husband’s delight!).

This is our third time with Steve, Corey and Cahil. What a great experience, what great guys and so easy. These guys are attentive to your needs and completely focused on ensuring you catch fish. Large lunch provided, water and soft drinks. Suggest you take extra just in case and maybe a mid-morning snack if you get hungry.

My husband was booked on another charter that sadly had to cancel. Rebooked on the dragon lady.
In his words: best fishing charter I’ve ever done
Cap & crew were amazing gave everyone the best chance to catch something. Moved to many different spots. If they weren’t biting. Caught nice Red Emperor Which I took to Star of Siam Thai in port Douglas they happily cooked up some amazing dishes.
Thank you for an amazing birthday fishing trip.
Highly recommend

We had a nice day fishing. The skipper and his offsider were really great and helped with all things as soon as we had a fish on. Could not fault them at all, friendly and very obliging. Lunch was great and more than enough.
Just perhaps to many people on boat ,13 people so with a couple of people new to fishing, lines got tangled a lot and we were on top of each other quite a bit making the 1-5 metres a little hard to do.
All in all a great day and lots of fish were caught.

As a "fishing tragic", I've been on many a charter over the years, and this one would have to rank as one of the very best I've experienced. The entire team from Dragon Lady really know their stuff. The put you on the most likely spots to catch fish but will then provide assistance dependent on the fishing skills of the individual person. They are enthusiastic, professional, and, above all, fun during a full day of fishing.
Thanks for a great day! Phil S

Crew was friendly and we caught a couple decent fish but I was very dissatisfied when a crewmember deliberately broke the line when he put his hand on the spool, stopping the clutch from spinning in a hook up. After approaching the crew member about his actions he replied that he would have lost the line on the reel, even though the fisherman seemed to be making progress. I am disappointed that he deliberately denied one of the fisherman a good fight with a good fish, when he seemed more concerned with the cost of the fishing line that supposedly could have broke off. The fisherman was extremely disappointed and was looking forward to the fight which was lost when the crew member didn't allow the fight to run its course. Not to mention, there was a plentiful amount of fishing line still on the spool when it was broken.

Great day fishing with a few mates. The skipper and crew tried many spots to get us the best catch. We had an awesome day out and the crew couldn’t do enough to help and fix hooks, sinkers, prepare bate etc. the boat was constantly cleaned each time we would move spots. Plenty of water and soft drinks. Would have loved some bigger fish though it was great to catch what we did. Thanks Derek and crew. Keep up the great work.

love this crew , as a newbie to fishing they are just as helpful to the beginners as they are the experienced anglers .

Reviewed 24 November 2016 based on this review , if the charter was cancelled as we only have the 22nd Oct 2017 available is there a full refund/ also if weather is unfavourable can we get a refund as well... Janette

Yes , you get a full refund. I have been to Port Douglas many times and been on Dragonlady many times. Sometimes the charter will be cancelled due to bad weather or lack of numbers. They take your credit card details to secure the charter but don't charge if the charter is cancelled. I've never had any problems
