We assumed we were booked in for a tour with scones, a frolic under a waterfall and a few hours with a boatload of other tourists. We were so happy that it wasn't that and thank you to our accommodation for booking this private tour with Bill instead; we were elated with the experience we got to enjoy.
Having been back in the city with a few weeks in lockdown, I'm reminiscing of the idyllic day spent in the Daintree. We strolled through the forest learning and appreciating the history and abundance of flora. We discovered a newfound excitement for fungi, and how to communicate with Wompoos.
Bill tailors the experience to you. This tour was the best part of our trip. Thank you so much for the fun morning.

A wonderful half day private tour in a beautiful secluded rainforest. Bill was incredibly informative, engaging and humorous! To top it off during the tour we were thrilled to realise that it was Bill who had taken us on a tour to Cape Tribulation and surrounds 16 years ago when we were last here. Bill is a true legend!

My partner and I had a brilliant morning on Bill’s Daintree tour.
Bill shared endless knowledge on the history of the Daintree, along with areas in and around Port Douglas.
The tour provided a deep nature experience, something I would strongly recommend.

Bill is a very knowledgeable guide and we had a fabulous personalised tour of this secluded part of the Daintree Rainforest. We thoroughly enjoyed the detailed information of the local wildlife and amazing plant life and we learned so much!
This is a tour for nature-lovers and people who want a personalised, less-touristy approach to this special region. Thank you Bill!

Bill is such a hilarious, knowledgeable tour guide and fun guy! Great depth of knowledge of the Daintree forest. From the weather, sounds of birds to different species of fungi. We learned heaps about the history of the Daintree.
So much fun we had and great learning experience for all of us.
Would recommend this for a more intimate tour.

We only had 3 days in Port Douglas but wanted to see the Daintree Rainforest. We could have chosen the Skyrail cable car option but instead, at the recommendation of Merrika at our hotel, we chose OBT and had a most excellent trip with the indomitable Bill Crew!
Bill certainly knows his stuff, particularly the history of Capt Cook together with detailed knowledge of flowers, plants, birds and wildlife in general. His identification and analysis of the contents of Cassowary poo was extraordinary!
All in all, a most informative trip around the less explored pathways (Song-lines) through the Daintree. The stop off at the point where Capt Cook first noted seeing smoke from local natives standing “on the ridge” puts Ozzie history in perspective. To the seaward view is the beginning of 3 centuries of European colonisation, to the rearward view (the Outback) is 50,000 years of Aboriginal history.
Humbling…

We met "wild Bill" at the Peninsula Boutique Hotel. He said he was "Wild" Bill today as he hadn't shaved! We didn't mind one bit. There were only 4 of us on the trip, and it was fantastic. Bill pointed out many things we would have missed, such as seed pods on the forest floor, and leeches drawing blood from my wife's ankle! We saw no-one else on our trip. The Billabong we stopped at just needed a crocodile to emerge! We met the cattle farmer whose farm we passed through, and he told us of Bill's sightings of a very rare creature - cannot repeat it in full here (The DBMTh Bill - remember?). An exceptional amount of knowledge imparted in a relatively short time. I reckon that every tour must be different with Bill. Very Highly recommended - no bus parties in sight and no boardwalks!

We were lucky enough to be referred to Bill by the tour director of our hotel. He took us through an area of the rainforest that is off limits to the larger tours. We were picked up in a van and then he switched to a 4 wheel drive defender to get deeper into the rainforest. We learned a lot about the different types of plants and saw some rare birds, wallaby’s and small kangaroos. And what I thought was a GIGANTIC spider but he didn’t think it was much to worry about. Bill is an absolute delight, super interesting and we could have chatted with him forever!

What level of agility/fitness is required for the tour? Is it difficult for seniors with arthritis? What is the footing like?
What kinds of wildlife can we expect to see in September?
Thanks!

You can do as much or as little as you wish.. we cater for all levels of agility and the paths are ideal for slow informative peasant touring...generaly we see wallabies kangaroos many birds and on a more general mabe base. platypus possums and wombats etc...We certainly are not on a timeline your own comfort is a priority to us...bill
