Snorkeling with Wavelength was amazing! It was the perfect day! All the staff was kind, professional and passionate. We’ve been to three sites and seen incredible life underwater every time!

This snorkeling trip is everything that is advertised and more. The crew is friendly and super helpful. They are also knowledgeable about the reef and are doing so much to protect it. The three sites were perfect and the photos they shared were amazing. I cannot recommend Wavelength enough. You will not be disappointed.

The Wavelength crew is passionate about the reef and their clients as well. The owner was on board during our trip, and I observed her planting new coral while snorkeling above her. The skipper has been with them for 15 years. This company is the real deal.

The best about Wavelength snorkelling in outer reef is that they have like 17 different places they can take you to. You will visit three but depending of weather conditions they can choose the best one for the day.
You will have a good sandwich as lunch. They also provide coffee or the with cakes in the morning and after each snorkelling stop.
The staff is really working well and make you feel safe, they have a lot of experience and knowledge about the reef so you can ask them anything.
The equipment is in good quality so you don’t need to bring anything. You can also buy seasickness pills onboard, sodas and souvenirs.
We went two times during our week with wavelength, the only company we went two times with. They offer you the best sites for snorkelling. We also went with three othe companies but we found Wavelength to be best for us. You will not have a buffet lunch but the snorkelling is the best.

An amazing trip to 3 sites on the reef with lots of time to see everything and have a great snorkelling experience.
The crew were very professional, knowledgeable with a fun attitude and we felt completely safe in their hands.
Wavelength offer smaller group size tours which was what we wanted. We went to the outer reef and didn’t see any other boats so it felt like quite a personal experience.
The crew took loads of photos of the reef , fish and coral as well as people which were shared with the group at no additional cost.
A really enjoyable day and highly recommend.

We had a great day out on the reef with Wavelength. The boat is clean and comfortable, the crew was friendly and helpful, and the food and drink better than expected. Our group was a good size - not too big. Wavelength provided all of the the equipment we needed, as well as reef-friendly sunscreen. We were able to snorkel three separate site, and each was absolutely amazing. The day could not have been better, and thanks to Wavelength we have great, great memories of our visit.

Short review: Book a trip with Wavelength. You won’t regret it! This company was absolutely amazing!!
Long review: There are many companies to choose from when visiting the reef, and it can be difficult to select which to pick. So, here are the reasons I initially chose Wavelength:
John (the owner) likes The Lego Movie and the company name is a physics thing, which I like.
After going on the cruise, here are all the reasons I would choose Wavelength AGAIN:
Everything. Extremely clear communication from beginning to end. Helpful and friendly staff at every step. They care about the guest experience and about protecting the reef. They know that it’s silly, but everyone wants to see Nemo, and they work really hard to make sure you can do that without judgement. The food was good, but not great. But I’m not on this trip for the food. I felt extremely safe and well taken care of. At every stop, they gave an overview of what to expect and how to enjoy that location. The best piece of advice they gave me was to treat the reef like an art museum: study a single spot for a few minutes and appreciate the small details you might otherwise miss. My personal advice: don’t forget to look up and look around you. Sometimes you forget to see the big picture and the enormity of the reef. The company also takes photos for you for free which allows you to sit back and enjoy. They are really good about discussing motion sickness strategies. My advice: look into Sea-Bands. They seem silly, but they really really helped me! I could go on and on about how great this trip was, but I think my overall advice is clear.

What an amazing Day.
Perfectly run operation with this Tour group.
Great value for money with 3 different locations to snorkel which includes snacks/lunch and all of your snorkelling gear.
Staff are Marine Biologists and very informed about the reef and marine life.
This is something I would definitely do again and my family would highly recommend this particular tour.
Thank you for a great family run operation out on the Great Barrier Reef.

Can anyone recommend a good waterproof phone case for taking pictures during this?

I also recommend getting the photos taken by the crew. They are really good and you don't have to spend your limited time in the water trying to learn a new trade - underwater photography - that has a lot of limitations and requires extensive skill. The $20 charge is not unreasonable given you sometimes pay that much for a snapshot taken by a machine at some attractions.

Hi, I am planning to go snorkelling on around 28th of May this year. I will be going with my wife and 2 daughters age 8 and 10. Both my daughters are not particularly good swimmers, but there would be noodles or float jackets that can be used. Just wondering what the usual weather will be out on the reef during the end of may, and is your tour would suit us. Thank you

Hi Yuan,
Wavelength is an excellent eco certified tour offering daily trips to stunning coral reefs on the Great Barrier Reef.
The minimum age is 8 years old (so that's fine) life jackets and noodles are great, and the crew also take snorkelling tours at every location, every day. They have life rings for your daughters to hold on to.. and you and your wife can too if you would like to :-)
The weather will be getting a little colder as it is towards the end of summer but it is still nice and warm. Water is usually 25 degrees C. Outside temperature usually around 27 degrees C this time of year.
It may be a little windy in May. But June, July and August is usually the windy months and can get a little rough.
If you are prone to sea sickness it is better to take seasickness tablets in the morning when you go on the boat.
Please have a look on our website Tree Hugger Travel for more information on Wavelength and if you have any questions please message us anytime :-)

Hi Sam
We were there in January of this year which is peak season and had no problem booking the tour. There were 4 of us
It might be worth emailing Wavelength to see what they would recommend and whether you have the option to change the day of the weather isn’t suitable for you.
Port Douglas is a lovely place to be with a very nice friendly atmosphere. I am sure you will have a great time

Hi we are interested in your snorkeling tour. We have a 1 year old baby traveling with us. Is it possible to take turns snorkeling with my wife while one of us watches the baby? Thanks!

The outer reef tour IMO is not the trip with an infant or small child. The trip to the closer island may work as it is only 30 min. by boat and you have access to land. The outer reef trips there is no land--only the boat, and it is cozy if full.

We are a family of five due to visit Port Douglas in August our 8 year old daughter can swim several lengths and she snorkelled last year in Florida, however in the ocean can she have a floatation device as not sure wether this would affect her confidence.

A lot of the charters have noodles available for floating on instead of life vests.

Hi, did someone this tour at the end of november? Currently, the water quality (visibility under water) is very poor. We have been to Magnetic Island and Whitesunday and have not seen anything. Is the water quality at the Great Barrier Reef better? Regards from Germany
