About
Daintree Safaris and Nicholas Fox conduct luxury, four wheel drive day tours from Port Douglas to the oldest rain forest on Earth. We carry a maximum of just six guests per day, travelling exclusively in the comfort of a spacious, late model Toyota 200 series Land Cruiser, featuring individual air conditioning and equal legroom throughout. We’ll cross The Daintree River by cable ferry on our way to the Jindalba board-walks. Enjoy a morning tea of home-made muffins and locally grown tea or freshly ground plunger coffee. See two World Heritage sites meet as the Daintree Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef touch at Cape Tribulation's beach. Take advantage of a true locals knowledge and enjoy our secret, sparkling swimming hole. Savour frosty, tropical delights at The Daintree Ice Cream Company while you stroll through their beautiful gardens. Then, stop for a photo, at the scenic Alexandra Lookout. Lunch, well sit back relax and dine, a la carte, in any weather at The Daintree Tea House Restaurant. Enjoy a choice of Chicken, Beef, Vegetarian and allergy free meals or perhaps you'd like to try our tropical speciality, Barramundi. All dishes are served with salad, chips, fresh bread and a large array of tropical fruit. Your host will talk you through all the exotic locally grown delicacies as you enjoy your meal. Next we take you to The Daintree River Cruise Centre for a one hour guided wild life spotting cruise on the Daintree River. Perhaps we'll spot one of our giant Saltwater Crocodiles. With World Heritage Accreditation and over twenty year’s local experience, Daintree Safaris knows how to show you the best of our beautiful region in comfort and style.

What a fantastic experience. The guide (and owner) Nicholas was a wealth of knowledge and experience which he shared so well. The small group (max 6 people) made the day so much better. Great scenery, lovely creek swim, really tasty lunch and crocodiles in the river. Can’t forget the tasty muffins - thanks so much.

I have had local tour guides in many
places in the world. Nicholas is a superb guide - considerate, extremely knowledgeable and has devised a day tour covering all bases. I learned so much from Nicholas. A great morning tea (thank you Anne Marie) and a lunch where it was not only good food but another opportunity to taste and learn.
Thank you Nicholas.

Nicholas is one of the most knowledgeable tour guides we have ever had. Given his ability to rattle off facts and figures, he has either been asked the same questions so many times that he has memorised the answers verbatim or he has a “photographic” memory. Incredibly impressive, and a really nice guy as well. Highly recommended!

As a family of five, we recently had a fantastic day out with Nicholas, in exploring this very special part of the planet: the meeting point of two world heritage listed places. Being, the Daintree Rainforest & the Great Barrier Reef. A wonderful experience ! Thank you Annemarie & Nicholas

What a fantastic day. Nick is so knowledgeable, answered every question thrown at him. His passion for the Daintree, the Cassowary and everything in-between is clear from the outset. I really loved the tour on the boardwalk where he showed us so many different plants and animals. Also the swimming hole! Lunch was delicious (with bonus frog after!) and we saw plenty of crocs before being driven back to our resort. Nick's hospitality deserves 10 stars.

Our tour guide Nicholas was fabulous. Extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. He could be a TV show narrator or write a guide book about the area

We have visited Port Douglas on 3 occasions spread over quite a number of years and on each trip we have had the pleasure of doing a Daintree Safari where we have been able to explore the environment that is Nicholas Fox' "office". Each one has been a delight not only because it is a wonderful place to visit but also because of Nicholas' depth of knowledge, manner of presentation and obvious respect for it all but today we were especially lucky to have Nicholas to ourselves and were very impressed that he had not called to try to reschedule us but instead he happily honoured our booking. It was another wonderful trip ... everything was well planned from when we were picked up on time at 7.15am to when we were returned to our accommodation about 4.00pm. Nicholas had it perfectly planned and arranged to help us avoid any crowds and enjoy the sights, sounds and tastes on offer ... and there were plenty! Kudos also to the Daintree Tea House Restaurant that cooked our delicious lunch using a generator because the power in the area was out. We would recommend people to put this tour at the top of their list when they are in the area.

There's a bit of a danger in visiting a place you've always wanted to see, because there's a chance that your imagination exceeds reality. Of course, the Daintree Rainforest is a dream come true on its own, but Nick brought this beautiful place to life for us in a way no one else could have. Nick is everything you could want in a tour guide: warm, welcoming, and so very knowledgeable. Listening to him is like listening to an incredible documentary, except this documentary talks to you and answers all of your questions with funny quips! 😆 His passion for all rainforest creatures great and small is contagious, and we're keeping our fingers crossed that he one day writes a book that details his stories and expertise. And while food wasn't the main reason we signed up for this tour, everything was delicious to boot. My husband is still talking about how much he loved the homemade muffins we were served for breakfast, which Nick told us was made by his wife - we love that kind of personal touch. If we ever return to Daintree - and I very much hope we do - going on another tour with Nick will be the first thing on our itinerary. Our sincere thanks for a day we'll always remember.

Nicholas was the perfect guide and host. His knowledge is legendary and we were not disappointed.
The tour delivered all our expectations, including seeing a number of crocodiles. The tour of the rain forest was excellent as was the tasty lunch at the Tea House.

Hello, will be there next October 2017 staying at Kawarra Beach Resort and Rose Gum. Have a day to do a tour, enjoy birds and wildlife a lot. Do you pick up at either one of these places? We are 2 senior ladies but active...we both enjoy nature bird watching and wildlife.

Hello there, thanks so much for contacting us. Our tours pick up in Port Douglas/Mossman only I'm afraid. We do have many guests who are based in Cairns and surrounds, self-driving to Port Douglas to meet us is the way to go. Have a wonderful holiday.

Hi, we were hoping on booking a day trip with you at the end of October.
Just wondering where the pick up is? Is it downtown Port Douglas or can you pick us up from our hotel downtown?
Is there an option for vegan meals on the trip? Dairy free ice cream?
Thanks!

Hi there, thanks for contacting us. We will pick you up from your accommodation in Port Douglas. Vegan and vegetarian meals are no problem but I'm afraid that dairy free ice-cream is not available.
