What a wonderful and unforgettable time my son, my wife and I had with Hook Up Charters. A big thank you to Julie and Shawry for making the whole experience a plesurable one.
Julie was amazing to deal with during the booking phase. We booked the half day tour and loved every minute of it. We were giving accurate advise on the best time to fish and we are glad that we listened. Shawry was a terrific host. We all caught fish and Shawry was great at encouraging our son who did not catch a fish at our first spot but ended up catching us ‘dinner’. Shawry also prepared the fish that we caught so that it was easy for us to cook when we returned home. He also gave us some great cooking tips.
During the trip we were provided with water to drink and raincoats if needed. We even have the opportunity to catch crabs which our son thoroughly enjoyed.
We plan on going back to Cairn and we will definitely be contacting Hook Up Charters again. We highly recommend going with them for your fishing experience. There is a good reason for all the positive reviews and Hook Up Charters deserve their fantastic reputation.

As a complete novice on the water, I couldn’t have asked for a more all-round excellent experience than what I had with Hook Up Charters.
Shawry, the owner, is very frIendly, knowledgeable, patient and supportive and really heightened my experience. He was 100% engaged in answering questions while providing in-depth knowledge of the area and how to fish; making sure he helped us bait up and throw the line into the right spot at every cast.
The equipment was perfect, easy to use and spot on for the areas we fished, and we caught lots.
I learned a lot and had a great time, and for an unmatched experience, I definitely recommend a morning or day on the water with Shawry and Hook Up Charters.

Shawry was a amazing host, him in his well equipped boat and exceptional local knowledge put us in the sweet spot each time. We went out the front and slayed coral trout. Mine being a pb of 5kgs!! Thanks mate.

My husband and I booked a 6 hour charter with Shawry as part of our Honeymoon in Port Douglas. I have never been fishing on a boat before so was unsure how the experience would be. It was fantastic! Firstly, the private charter made the experience so easy and smooth. We couldn't believe how many fish we caught throughout the day and how easy he made every step. Shawry is lovely to speak to and kept us entertained. We loved the variety of spots he took us to and we came out with approx 7 fish and 2 x mud crabs that we cooked up for two nights dinners! Worth every cent and we highly recommend to any-one going to Port Douglas. We will definitely be going again when we return.

Had a great half day fishing charter with Glen. We started at 7am laying some crab pots in the mangroves. Then we fished several different spots. Caught lots of fish and had one for dinner and my husband ate a crab which we had caught. (One of a few). Glen was very helpful and showed me what to do as I am not an experienced fisher person. We had a really fun and enjoyable experience and he was great company and very patient. All the equipment and bait was supplied. So pleased we chose Glen to do our fishing expedition with. Thoroughly recommend. Comfortable boat too.

What an experience with Shawry from Hook up. A good honest down to earth professional who's experience was evident from the get go, with Julia working in the background its a well oiled machine. A beautiful morning with a short 30min trip out he had us on the fish in know time and if you listen to his instructions you,ll be fish on. We took a small amount of the catch for dinner that night on the BBQ and with Shawrys recipe we prepared an awesome Ceviche that was bang on, this trip is well worth every cent. Not just for the fishing , being out on the Barrier reef was amazing. Heading back in we caught a glimpse of a 6 to 8 foot spinner shark leaping from the water.
You won,t get that sitting by the pool.

Reef fishing was closed so spent the day in the estuary. Would probably have been too windy out anyway. Shawry is great company, provided good gear and did everything to maximise our chances of getting a fish. Came home with a feed all expertly filleted and a bonus mud crab. Great day out and highly recommended.

A very experienced fisherman is Shawie. We were unable to get to the inner reef because of weather - windy and choppy...his boat is a small flat bottomed, so best suited to estuary fishing....up into Dicksons Inlet. Top few hours it was though, just 4 of us...catching a few Bream, Barramundi and Mangrove Jack.
His ability to catch some live bait with throw-net was critical to success.

Great guide, very knowledgable and good value charter. Did the morning half day and went to many spots in the river system. Shawry was more than happy to answer questions and give information and was very accommodating.
We caught fish and i lost a few too. (My fault).

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our morning half day charter and caught a range of fish under Shawry's friendly and knowledgable guidance. He also provided us with interesting info about the mangroves and the variety of fish in the estuary. We would highly recommend Hooked up Charters and Shawry for an enjoyable way to spend time in Port Douglas.
