Scuba IQ Port Douglas is a PADI and TDI/SDI Dive Resort and Training Facility, offering high-quality scuba diving courses; introductory diving; guided dive trips, and dive expeditions on the Great Barrier Reef and The Coral Sea. Our operation is built on a foundation of highly experienced scuba diving professionals with vast knowledge not only of diving but also of the reef and the creatures that inhabit it. This has all been gained from over 80 years of cumulative experience between our team, giving us an unrivaled level of expertise in the Port Douglas region.

We booked a 3-tank tour to the GBR with ScubaIQ for November 2023. Martin, the owner was extremely responsive over and accommodating as we planned our trip over email and personally picked up my family and me on the day of the dive. He provided an highly experienced and very professional dive guide, Michael, who took the time to ensure a very personalized and safe set of dives for us. Each dive was outstanding and it felt as if we had the ocean to ourselves. The equipment was in excellent shape and it was clear that Martin runs a high quality operation and is invested in providing an excellent client experience.
As a fellow PADI professional, I highly recommend Martin and ScubaIQ. Our experience was an absolute pleasure and I hope we get the opportunity to dive with them again in the future.

Wow, I am so glad we booked this tour for our first dives at the GBR! Our guide Martin went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and having fun. He even held the GoPro we rented the entire time and took AMAZING photos and videos of us. I am so grateful for the 1:1 experience as well, I feel we explored much more of the reefs than the other divers on the boat because of having an experience guide with us. Thanks so much Martin, we will definitely book with you again when we return!

I signed up with ScubaIQ to get my open water scuba diving certificate and had an unforgettable amazing experience.
We worked with Martin, who is an experienced diver of 20+ years. He was patient, calm, very clear and encouraging as he taught us throughout the few days. We had 3 days in total - pool day, open water day 1, and open water day 2. I was pretty nervous at first, but after practicing in the pool and with Martin’s clear instructions and explanations, I felt a lot more confident in the open water.
In addition to the great instruction, diving in the Great Barrier Reef was an amazing experience. We went in November so the weather was perfect and Martin also guided us to excellent places in the dive spots so we were able to see beautiful corals and wildlife.

Getting open water certified with Scuba IQ was the best experience one could ask for. Martin was a patient and thorough instructor, helping reassure us of any nerves we had with diving all the while doing a masterful job correcting any mistakes or difficulty with had with some of the lessons.
On the dives, he was an excellent dive guide, pointing out all the wildlife of the Great Barrier Reef, which we saw tons of, from reef sharks to giant clams.
Overall, 5/5 experience, if you’re ever in Port Douglas or in Cairns and looking for a one in a lifetime diving experience, Scuba IQ and Martin has you covered

Scuba IQ was fantastic as a solo traveler. I loved the small group environment which allowed us to see more of the reef and learn more about the animals we encountered. My one day dive was perfect for the taste of reef I was looking for on my holiday!
Martin was great from start to finish and made me want to use this company for future longer adventures.

These guys are the best!
Not only were the sights incredible, the people were the ones that made this trip special. Starting with Matin who set up the trip.
My dive guide Michael was very experienced and knowledgeable. He took care of everything. I just absorbed myself into the experience and kept my head on a swivel so I wouldn't miss a thing. These guys are the best. Do yourself a favor and see the GBR with Scuba IQ.

Diving with Martin was extraordinary. We did three dives on the Outer Reef. Each one was unique, beautiful, and an experience I will remember for a long time. We saw a huge array of corals, vibrant fish, bioluminescent clams-- and so much more. But beyond the reef, Martin was an incredible teacher and person to dive with. His knowledge of the reef is unparalleled. We spent the ride over discussing what we could expect to see, which only made it more exciting to see everything during the dives. As a newer diver, I felt safe, comfortable, and relaxed. Truly I cannot thank Martin and Scuba IQ enough. Already dreaming of the next time I can dive with them.

Last week, my dad and I went for a 3-day scuba trip in Port Douglas, and I can tell you that it was the best 3 days that I have ever had. The reef and dive sites were stunning, and Martin (and Michael of one day), who was our dive guide, was super friendly, very knowledgeable and helped us as beginner divers. Both Michael and Martin were patient and detailed. We were confident that we were in good hands.
The dive sites were incredibly diverse and teeming with life. For any people who are considering diving the Great Barrier Reef, I highly recommend diving with Martin (Scuba IQ). Simply the best people in the best place. The whole experience was absolutely stunning.

Booked in with Martin to do the Open Water Certificate with a mate. Can't recommend Martin and Scuba IQ any higher, from setting things up and getting details sorted beforehand, to doing the coursework and getting on the reef, the whole things was stress free and really enjoyable. Martin knows his stuff inside and out and really cares about making the learning experience a safe, positive experience while tapping into the excitement and magic of people getting under the water for the first time. Great guy, great company, great experience!

I cannot recommend Martin and Michael highly enough. We were a party of 5 - 3 intro divers, one qualified diver who has dived about 30 times but the last time 26 years ago, and one newly qualified diver. They took their time with us and ensured we were all comfortable and happy before taking us down. We were part of a larger boat but enjoyed continual, personalised attention throughout the day from Martin & Michael which meant any issues we faced (such as imperfect weights on the weight belt) were quickly and efficiently resolved. If we're back in far North Queensland the first thing I will do is contact Martin and book him and Michael to dive with us again.
