My husband and I recently enjoyed a private tour of the Daintree Rainforest with our guide, Vincent, who spoke with great knowledge about the animals and especially, the plants and trees of the rainforest while leading us on walks through various areas. Additionally, he took us to Cooya Beach, where we had the opportunity to go spearfishing and mud crabbing with 2 aboriginal guides who, after spearing both crabs and a shovel nose ray, proceeded to invite us into their family home where they cooked their catch and shared it with us. It was a wonderful tour during which we had great once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

I did a float on the Mossman and a tour of the gorge in October 2023 and it was beyond anything I had hoped for (and I had some pretty high expectations).

Trent and Rene were AMAZING guides, and their love for and appreciation of the rainforest was evident from the moment we met. From horticulture to biology to just moments of quiet bordering on a near-spiritual experience, these two were exemplary guides whom I cannot laud enough. My thanks to them for a beautiful experience, one which I will carry with me for the rest of my days.

In addition, Joe from Oasis Transport who drove me up to Cairns was fantastic. He went above and beyond to explain the history of the Tropical North, taking detours for scenic overlooks and telling stories rich with local color. Oh, and we did that all and were still ahead of schedule!

Such a phenomenal experience. Make sure to go today!

The tour was a mix of interesting nature discovery in the forest and exploring the river. Great for our family including an 11 year old and 13 year old. It’s cold but the wetsuits make it ok as soon as you get in. The tour guide was enthusiastic and entertaining which is needed when you are trying to convince some sceptical people to jump in a cold river. Just be warned though … take off any rings. I lost my wedding ring half down a small set of rapids. That ring hardly came off my finger without a struggle but the combination of cold water and friction against rocks pulled that ring right off my finger. Wasn’t very happy at all at the end of the tour about losing my ring until 3 weeks later when the tour operator found it with a metal detector and sent it back to me. Completely unexpected and well done by them. Above and beyond what I expected.

We had a very different and delightful experience. The clear water and the tiny rapids were manageable for both elders and kids. That last part where the river is lazy, you lie on your back and just enjoy the canopy of trees is so soothing.
Would love to do it again

Fun and different experience for families with older kids or kids who are competent swimmers. It’s a perfect length (no boredom) and interactive and just plain fun for everyone - all in the beauty of a rainforest.

I have to say I was sadly underwhelmed by this trip. It was very very cold (even with thermals and wetsuits) and we moved so slowly along a very short stretch of river that it was really hard to stay warm. It’s probably my fault for not looking into it more, but it’s a very sedentary activity. It’s also all within a walking distance of the van, so only a small stretch of river; I had assumed it would be point to point and we’d be picked up at the end.

Staff were lovely but we kept being encouraged to have photos taken rather than actually making progress down the river! Not worth the considerable cost for me.

Worth doing when your visiting the Tropic North. Will was an excellent tour guided with lots of stories and information to tell. The river snorkelling was a great new experience. The team made sure you were safe. We saw turtles, a lot of fish and water dragons. Also the walk in the Daintree Forest was very informative.
