I don’t even know where to start… This was such a magical day, my fiancé and I had never been diving before and were a little hesitant about it but the staff were so encouraging & calming and thank goodness they were because we LOVED it and ended up doing the second dive too. The snorkelling was also terrific and we were given lots of time to explore the reef. There was plenty of food throughout the day and the staff were impressive and attentive everything tan like clockwork. There was plenty of direction for when we were diving with adequate notice. They went through everything throughout the safety procedures and the diving instructions. It rained for the majority of the time we were out on the reef but still didn’t disappoint. It truely was a magical experience. Thank you Reef Experience for helping us make wonderful memories!!

This tour was far from what we expected - especially considering the price! We paid over $400 for two people to snorkel for 2 hours (the reef itself was amazing but you can go on any tour to see this!), eat a very basic egg and bacon roll and have some salad and chicken for lunch on an old leaky boat. Everything else on the boat (second dive, photos, marine biology tour) was an additional cost of course! Our money coud have been much better spent. The tour price claims to include a glass-bottom boat but this wasn't run on the day we visited (given no explanation why). After completing the medical questionnaire I was approached by a crew member who questioned my medication. The crew were unfamiliar with my condition yet didn't ask further questions or allow me to explain my situation. They then refused to let me dive, despite having snorkeled and dived multiple times before. It very much seemed like they only said no to cover their back. So I did some research myself, the medication "does not interfere at all with safe diving, and nearly all medical problems associated with the thyroid gland should not preclude diving once diagnosed, treated and stabilized". Despite coming all the way to Cairns to go diving we could have gotten over this hiccup. However, we were offered NOTHING in place of the dive - just more time to snorkel. Considering we had paid for the dive, it would have been nice to be offered the marine biology tour as compensation. NOT IMPRESSED. BE AWARE!! Our group size was massive (upwards of 80 pp which was not at all what we were expecting) and likely over capacity for the staff to handle adequately. This left us largely to fend for ourselves. All the staff were friendly however these guys need to have some way better systems for busy days. There was pretty much no communication with us about the activities. They called the first dive group out (which were weren't in) and then nothing else. Everyone was just waiting inside with no direction. After 15mins we went outside and discovered people were already in the water snorkeling! Then again the same thing happened after lunch. No communication that we had arrived at the next dive site and the next snorkeling session was beginning. The food tasted fantastic and was of great quality however there were some very basic food safety practices missing especially in COVID times - we expected much better. It is mainly serve yourself (many were not considerate that others needed to eat too), no tongs are provided and there were groups of people standing up and eating over the food service area! It would be a much better idea to use the safety numbers and call up groups 10-15 pp at a time with staff serving the food.

My boyfriend and I went on the day tour to the reef, it was our favourite part of our holiday to Cairns! Julia was our Scuba diving instructor and she was amazing, she was so friendly and calming while we were under the water. The food was so yummy and everyone onboard the boat was so friendly. It was hands down the best day of my life!

Absolutely loved this day trip with reef experience! I did my first ever intro dive and the guide was so great. All the team looked after us so well throughout the day and felt totally comfortable. Definitely caught the diving bug :) They do free pick ups from accomodations around cairns. The food was amazing with breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack with wine all included for the epic value price. If you're looking for a fab day trip this is hard to beat!
