Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Worked there. Bad food, management and overpriced. If you want bad frozen food go to Cole’s before u go there cause that’ll be better quality. The beach is lovely though

Boat over was rough conditions with people screaming etc. I don’t get seasick but a lot of people were.

The island itself is run down and over priced. It was nice to get out of Cairns though. We just spent the whole day at the pool. I did walk to the beach but it was $45 for a deck chair.

if I went again I’d bring more food and a few beers.

The boat back was less choppy but the materials on the seats was disgusting and needs replacing. I think many people have been sick on them.

it is a very small island you can easily walk around in an hour. There are beautiful paths with lots of trees to keep you shaded. Do bring bug spray as I was eaten alive by mosquitos and ended up with big welts (even through t-shirts). They have a dive shop - I just got basic snorkeling equipment for AUD26 - the stinger suit is extra but there were no jelly fish I ran into. The beach area has so-so snorkeling - some fish and not much coral - you need to get the tour out to the reef. The swimming pool on the island was a bit lame, and the food was about $8 for a pre-packaged sandwich. There were tons of these little brown birds that begged for handouts - they were almost tame and rather amusing. On the island is a Marineland with a croc show that was a lot of fun.

Decided on a hamper instead of the Restaurant and was pretty excited about a beach picnic. HOW DISAPPOINTING. Raw prawns, soggy bread sticks, calamari that hot you couldn't eat and a bag of lettuce for the salad. Dessert was a small dry fruit cake. Who goes to a resort to eat fruit cake. AND they try and charge $95 for it. WHAT A JOKE.

We were looking forward to our trip as a family for a while. When we arrived, the island was run down, smelt really bad and was not kept well. Not alot of great snorkeling. The food from the cafe was also really bad, very small portions for how much you pay. We were really disappointed and will not return. We do not recommend.

This is a magical place. This is a natural aquarium. The water is so clear and isolated so I was surprised it was not too busy!

Nice bays for snorkelling, a worthwhile crocodile zoo/park, and some shops cafe. the real reason to visit is to see the reef of course.

The trip was spoiled by the rip-off prices charged on site, e.g. $45 to use two chairs under an umbrella and $12 for a pre-packed sandwich! The only justification seems to be that you have no choice.

What a fabulous time you can have on Green island! The beauty of this island is that the reef is easily accessible by strolling off the beach and into the water. We found the best beach and snorkelling opportunities were next to the jetty when you first arrive at the island. The beach is clean and the water calm and inviting. The snorkelling offered an array of marine life including turtles, plenty of fish, an octopus, coral and a cruising shark. Both my husband and I and our two children loved it here. My best tip for the day would be to invest in hiring a stinger suit - these offer great protection from stingers, the sun and provides some insulation for the cooler water. The only negative I have for the island is that food and drinks are eye watering expensive. Other than that - amazing!!

We were a bit unsure of what to expect after reading some mixed reviews. We were greeted by a very strong smelling bird odour upon entering the main precinct on the island, and then walked the perimeter where signs indicated that swimming and snorkelling was not advised. This left us very confused as the tour we took offered snorkelling as an option on the island. We followed the crowds and chose to snorkel next to the jetty, and we were not disappointed. Our kids explored the reef and were very impressed with what they saw. We lost count of the number of sea turtles we saw and the weather was just perfect! We opted for sandwiches from lite bites cafe, which were on the cheaper end of food available which we enjoyed. Overall, our day was incredibly special and the sea life and coral is definitely worth seeing. After a questionable start, the day was fantastic and we would recommend to others.
