One of the institutions of Cairns, this is a must do. Lots of souveniers, and yes they are mostly tourist tat, but a few have genuine Aussie goods and the atmosphere is the main attraction. The food court is very reasonable for decent food of...More

The night markets are well known for their cheap Chinese food and cheap Chinese massages. Beware of the outfit in the middle with the white signs advertising "Aches and pains? You need Chinese acupressure massage" or something like that. My friend fell asleep during his...More

My wife loves night markets so we went there. Food concessions and indoor market stalls. Nothing special and not necessarily cheap either. Souvenier heaven. Busy.

We were interested for a stroll at the night markets. We found it was Asian inspired food available. Most stuff for sale seemed to aimed at tourists, like souvenir t shirts, leather goods, opals and pearls, Knick knacks and walk-in massages. Didn’t very much local...More
