Take the old train to the top of the mountain to visit Kuranda. Travels through lush rainforests framed by mountains. Stop to see Barron Gorge and enjoy the waterfalls. Continuous narration gives the history of the railway.

Combined with Skyrail, its a perfect day's outing. A opportunity to appreciate lush rainforest in a different perspective. Even better if you go Gold class. Its a Cairns must-do.

This is a fantastic day trip to Kuranda with stops on the way, taking in the Barron falls and an overview of the scenery before arriving at Kuranda railway station. The station itself is worth the trip absolutely beautiful, the town shops, markets and zoo will occupy the time spent here.

Great train ride, nice destination and super return on the sky rail. We did the train up and sky rail back with transports back to our car at the train station by bus. The train ride is very comfortable with some great expansive and waterfall views along the way. We did the jungle walk which was good except for the... More

The Railway Trip is well worth it if you visit Cairns. I was picked up and driven to the station, driver was great. The station has a good shop and a small Museum which is nice to look around. The Trains and carriages were very nice, no aircon or fans so a little hot though. The Scenery on the trip... More

Brilliant tour. Well worth the money spent on the trip. The train journey gives you picturesque views of Cairns from a very good vantage and since we went in summer (it rained quite a bit) the Barron Falls and the Stony Creek Falls were in spate. So got some amazing views of these two falls. Also the Skyrail back down... More

So wasn't sure where to do this or not but the views more than make up for it. It takes a while to meander down but I'd suggest doing both skyrail and the train.

We went up to Kuranda by train and came back by cable car. Both were very interesting and offered great views. The account of how the railway was built is fascinating. Kuranda itself is 'touristy' but has a small zoo with a chance to feed wallabies, observing crocodiles lazing in the sunshine and getting a photograph with a koala bear.... More

This is quite simply the best tour I've been on! We travelled on the sky-rail up to Kuranda & the scenic railway back to Freshwater (near Cairns) The sky-rail was amazing, it goes high up above the rain-forest with a few stops along the route and the option to get off at various view points with fantastic photo opportunities. Then... More
