Kuranda Scenic Railway is the original scenic rail journey to Kuranda. This spectacular experience travels over bridges and through tunnels hand-made by North Queensland's pioneers over 100 years ago. Traversing the World Heritage listed rainforest of the Barron Gorge National Park, this is one of the world's great railway journeys.

Loved the trip up the railway to the Kuranda village where there was great shopping and the burgers at the original hotel where awesome. Took sky rail down that to was exciting.

We were not assigned a seat next to the window. Unfortunately, could not take any pictures because others were in the way. The train ride was slow and took a long time. This ride would be good for someone who is interested in the history...More

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're sorry to hear your experience wasn't as expected. The train, made up of carriages 100-years old, is in fact a vintage experience - and in North Queensland's summer peak season crowds are a plenty in this region and...More

It was too hot on the train which made the trip miserable along with the diesel smells that wafted through every now and then. They need to drastically reduce their price or get air conditioning. No point saying it changes the heritage aspect of the...More

We did the train on the way up and gondola on the way down. It’s okay but nothing really worth seeing. It would be better to take the gondola as the scenic part is just before Kurunda.More

Thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the complete journey. Part of the experience of our rail journey is winding through the rainforest, through man-made tunnels and over bridges..and travelling on carriages over 100 years old. We like to think...More

We went on a hot and humid day so it was a little uncomfortable in the carriages that are not air-conditioned the train travels relatively slowly also, so there is little breeze through the open windows. It is quite a beautiful trip and is good...More

A great day out but gets very warm on the train. Take plenty of cold water and snacks as nothing in train other then a water bubbler. Great views and commentary about its history. Very warm and sweaty and very little reprieve once in Kuranda....More

Thank you for your review Tracey. We're delighted you had a great day out! Yes the North Queensland weather can be quite hot and humid and our heritage train doesn't have all the mod-cons like air conditioning, we agree keep plenty of water on hand.
