This ATV tour was the highlight of our Cairns, Australia Trip! We dove the Great Barrier Reef, went to Daintree Rainforest, did an Outback Food & Wine Tasting, enjoyed the Skyrail to Kuranda & the Golden Ticket Scenic Railway back, cuddled a Koala...but this ATV experience was our favorite! Perry greeted our party of 5 (we're all early 30s from the US) at the Barron Falls station on the Skyrail, and from that moment on, we felt like we were personal family friends of his. He shared his history of his home, the history of his father's contributions to the area, the history of the area and educated us on every tree/fruit/animal we came into contact with! We learned so much about the flora & fauna of the area - had the opportunity to smell the bark & leaves of trees, learn about the beautiful Cassowary (which we saw up close!!!), taste the abdomen of the edible green ant, and see his future plans for the property. The ATVs were fun, everything was safe, we got to ride across a small river! We originally had 4 in our group, and at the last minute we were able to add on a 5th friend! Perry is a super friendly guy, and makes a positive impact on those who visit! I would definitely recommend adding this experience to your trip in Kuranda/Cairns/Port Douglas/Palm Cove, where ever you're from! We are genuinely excited for the future of Perry's next projects. We just did this adventure, and we'll have a video of it posted on our YouTube Channel, "Bottom Line Up Front" in the near future if you'd like to check it out!

Dear Maggie, we love when visitors share positive reviews online but we feel so lucky and grateful when they go beyond that and we look forward to your Youtube video! It is because of this that we eagerly welcome visitors from all over the world. Out of all of the top class experiences you were able to join while visiting Cairns we are glad to be your favourite one! We definitely designed our tours to be more than an ATV ride, a personalised rainforest experience and a way to share this piece of paradise that has been in our family for now 3 generations!

Family run business, Perry the owner is friendly and accommodative. He had picked and dropped us off at Kuranda information centre. The assigned guide had thought us about on how to operate the ATVs with safety brief. After making our initial trail drives, we had followed the guide into the rainforest through fruit plantations where we had a memorable experience of driving ATV through the rain forest and stopping to see the buttress roots of the huge trees. We were shown a distillery which is still in development with a brief introduction on how rum and whisky are being made. Due to winter, Pleasant Experience in Tranquil Rainforest – Kuranda ATV Tour

Thank you for taking the time to share this great review! It means the world to us when visitors enjoyed their time here so much to describe our experience perfectly on their own words... We are very proud of offering a unique experience on ATVs and look forwards to adding more features to the whole experience like our boutique distillery! As for the fruit, it is a great excuse to visit us again during the fruiting months (generally December-March). Thank you again for supporting a local family business 🙏🏽

This is an amazing, totally one of a kind trek through private rainforest land in Kuranda on ATVs. I booked in for the 2-hour ATV tour and it was just me and Perry the owner/tour guide so I had the privilege of being able to ask lots of questions.

The property the tour is on (Barron Falls Estate) has been in Perry’s family for generations and his knowledge of the local flora, fauna and pioneer history of the area is phenomenal. It’s also a working fruit farm with an impressive range of tropical fruits you learn about and get to sample on the tour. Jackfruit, mango, durians, rambutans, lychees and mangosteens to name just a few including the chance to drink from a piece of rainforest cane. I even got a few delicious mangos to take home with me 🥭 Perry also showed me a distillery where tropical spirits are made which is something the team want to develop further in the future.

The ATVs (which I’d never used before) were easy to learn and lots of fun once you get the hang of them. I started feeling the need for speed that’s for sure and there was a section where you cross a creek and Perry gets a video of you on your phone as the water splashes everywhere. You also get to view some giant figs, basket ferns and we even spotted a goanna.

What impressed me the most was the dedication and work done by the team in nurturing and conserving the native cassowary population on the property. These amazing creatures can be spotted on the tour if you’re lucky and the team at Kuranda Rainforest Journeys manage the wild pigs and dogs in the area to ensure the cassowaries are safe and also have plenty of fruit to eat.

I encourage people to support this fantastic local business. The property is a truly magical place. You can self drive up the Kuranda Range which I did or get picked up at nearby Barron Falls skyrail station. 10/10

We greatly appreciate the time you have taken to share this great review with us! We are so glad to know that you had a special time on tour and even more so sharing time and knowledge with Perry who grew up here and is passionate about this place and our business. We have designed our tour so visitors like yourself get to see a working exotic fruit farm, the amazing rainforest and the history of the place which is quite special and hard to compare with other tours around the area... It is even more unique when we add to this experience the healthy cassowary population who call Barron Falls Estate home as for 3 generations in our family have been protecting these endangered species... We hope we are able to keep offering visitors with this unique experience on ATVs for many years to come. Thank you for your support!

Unfortunately for us the experience was a little underwhelming. We had a large group and our guide who although was lovely had a poor command of English and at times was quite difficult to understand. ( I must mention that he was in training and was still learning all the facts about what he was trying to show us)
This tour would be great for teenagers or for someone keen to try quadbiking in the rainforest but I would not recommend it if you were hoping to get a better view or insight into the flora and fauna of the region. (There was also no talk or discussion about the Cassowary despite all the signage and previous reviews which I found quite surprising)
So in summary a good time filler if you can afford it and have teenage kids looking for something to do but don't put this on the top of your must do list in Kuranda.

We greatly appreciate the time you have taken to share this review with us. We must admit that during these holidays we have been overwhelmed with the amount of visitors wanting to join our tour so we are trying our best to fill each time slot as efficiently as possible but even at our maximum of 10 people, these are still small groups. As for our new staff members, as you noted, they are still in training. However, both have received praise and very positive feedback from the other people on your tour. We have to disagree however when you inaccurately describe our unique tour as being simply a ride for teenagers since we have catered for a range of visitors- from families with 6 months old babies up to 83 year olds. Our many excellent reviews are testament to this. Despite our guides being in training, they are always happy to share information and answer questions when asked. Even when they do not know the answer, management is available for support. We receive and respect your review which only encourages not only us as owners/managers but all our team to keep working towards providing visitors with one the best rainforest experiences there are not only in Kuranda but in Tropical North Queensland as proved by all our other reviews. We now know there is room for improvement but we are most definitely not at the bottom of the list of things to do in Kuranda, we have received three 5-star reviews since your posted this one.... We sincerely hope the rest of your holidays in this beautiful part of Australia are more than a 3-star experience!

Really enjoyed our trip into the rainforest. The guide was friendly and knowledgeable and even took photos of us as we had left our phone in our car, which was nice of her. It was raining so unfortunately we didn’t spot any of the resident cassowaries. Would recommend.

I took my partner who had never ridden a quad bike before and they took the extra time to show her how to ride and help her gain the necessary confidence to enjoy the ride. We got to see and get up close to a wild cassowary which is a special experience. We learned some interesting things along the way. The rain forest is a special place to be.

Upon arrival we were greeted by the bubbly Alisha. She fitted us out, prepped us and patiently guided us through the test course before commencing the tour. Alisha was very mindful that we were beginners and kept safety a top priority. We stopped along the way to visit the oldest tree in the rainforest at 1100 years old! Not only was she fun and kept up a light hearted commentary, Alisha was very knowledgeable about the rainforest flora and fauna. She introduced us to their pet cassowary and took photos and videos of our antics. Highly recommend. Alisha is a gem of a tour guide.and that you don't see very often!

Such a unique and fun experience. Thoroughly enjoyed the stories, intelligence and wit from Max, what an impressive place. Loved our first time quad bike experience and for a couple in our fifties, cannot recommend this highly enough for all ages. Get brave and just have a go. We are so glad we did, was one of our all-time highlights of the area. Congrats to all!

Awesome fun for all ages. Our group ranged from 10 to 50 most of which had never been on an ATV before which didn’t matter. The guide was very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly which made the experience all the more enjoyable. We also encountered 3 cassowaries in their natural environment which just topped off the tour.

We are very proud of offering a safe & enriching experience for visitors all ages and our tour guides always make sure it happens that way on every tour...
