Frankland Islands Cruise offers visitors the #1 nature based island tour on the Great Barrier Reef. Totally uninhabited, Normanby Island is a national park and the destination for guest on board Frankland Island Cruises. The largest of the Frankland Islands, the island is part coral cay and part continental island, with a healthy and vibrant fringing coral community. The island boasts an abundance of plant and wildlife species, vibrant and colourful rainforest which is met by beautiful, unspoilt beaches and brilliant coral gardens which are home to tropical fish, giant clams and, most notably, green sea turtles. Your day begins with a drive south of Cairns and a morning cruise along the Mulgrave river. From the mouth of the river your destination on the Great Barrier Reef is already in sight, making it the shortest open sea crossing in North Queensland. With maximum daily passenger numbers of 100, and a high crew to passenger ratio, a Cairns Great Barrier Reef day trip to the Frankland Islands ensures you an intimate, personal and unforgettable tropical Island experience from Cairns and the northern beaches.

This excursion is a MUST DO! Definitely the best tour I had in my 2 months in Australia. The cruise is great and you will get to see both the river enviroment and the Frankland Islands area with a very comptent and interesting guide that is a marine biologist that works for the marine park and is specialized on corals.... If you like snorkeling this experience is good for you. The islands are not far from the mainland, they are surrounded by cristal clear water and the sand is golden and soft. The vegetation luxurious and the atmosphere relaxing. The guide was competent and friendly and helped us use the equipment . The lunch in the shade was scrumptious. This... More

I'm surprised how low this cruise is ranked on Trip Advisor, because it is an excellent experience for all levels of fitness and all ages. If you love nature, snorkelling, and gaining knowledge on the flora and fauna of the Frankland Islands then I am sure you will love this cruise. It is a bit of drive down to Deeral... More

When people come to FNQ for the Great Barrier Reef many will tend to book with the bigger companies, which is fine as they all offer a great service. However some of the smaller companies like Frankland Island Cruises get overseen. This is a fantastic day out with a limit of 100 people on the island. The crew are all... More

My partner and I have been to the Reef many times, but Frankland Island was by far the best snorkelling spot ever !! How amazing it is to see that there is still wild, protected amazing spots in the Great Barrier Reef ! -Great coral and fish... we have seen more turtles in Frankland than all other trips put together... We really really enjoy the tour. The island only allows 100 guests daily hence we can feel it detaches from rat race tours. The landscape is beautiful with crystal water & lively coral with friendly & enthusiastic advanced snorkeling guidance from Jack . Further, seeing 6 turtles makes the trip truly amazing :)

Awesome day. Professional and friendly staff who made you feel welcome and safe, pristine island with great coral and fish. Pick up from hotel on time, boat waiting, welcome tea or coffee, wonderful scenery up the river, then short sea ride to island. On the island you can do as much or as little as you wish. We did everything.... More

What a great day out. We were on a 2 day cruise stopover in Cairns and were pleased to be able to do this trip on the second day. We paid for transfers by bus to and from a nearby hotel. Due to a slightly late start the tour operators told everyone we would leave the island later to ensure... More

My partner and I had the best day out with the girls and guys from Frankland Island Cruise. Everything went according to plan: we were picked up in front of our hotel, driven to the ferry, enjoyed a river cruise and subsequent cruise to the island which was absolutely stunning. We went snorkeling off the beach first, and joined the... More
