Stayed in an apartment on Wharf Street with 2 other couples. We went to Kuranda via train and come back on the sky rail, you really need to book if you want to go up and back a certain way, the map of the town wasn’t very good and I missed one of markets as I didn’t walk all the way up the street. Most places food shops shut at 2pm. We also did Green Island, half of us did the glass bottom boat and the others did the snorkelling, you need to go near the jetty to see a lot of fish, food and drinks are expensive. We found that the restaurant food was very expensive, it was hard to find a coffee shop that sold cakes and most cafes shut at 2pm. The night markets are okay. We also drove up to Port Douglas, which was lovely, you can swim at the beach but not after November as there are stingers in the water. We had 3 full days which wasn’t enough as there was more we could have seen and done. Also would have been good to be there on a Sunday when there are markets at Port Douglas and other places. The weather was lovely, starting to get humid, it was about 30 degrees very day.

    Tropical Market
Great place to get for fresh fruits and veggies direct for farmers in very reasonable price. I noted less food stalls compared from our last visit 10 years ago. Still highly recommended when you visit Cairns. Open Friday to Sunday only.

Nice market for fruit and vegetables. Biggest variety we have seen in a long time. Lots of stalls offer tastings. Huge variety of fruits we had never seen before. There are other stalls offering a variety of different nick nacks and souvenirs etc but not as many as the night markets offer. Lots of parking available although we walked there.

    A very impressive market
This is a great fresh produce market and has a good variety of stalls. After picking up the few items we needed for the next few days our next stop ws a Vietnamese Street food stall where we picked up a duck wrap. Our last stop was a French Patisserie where we came away with a croissant and some macarons.

    Loved Rusty's Markets
What a special place! Loved the relaxed vibes and all the food and drinks options they had. So much fresh fruit and products to try. Had a delicious vietnamese meal that was so good we went back again the next day. Highly recommend a day at Rusty's Markets.

    Fresh and Flavourful Hub!
If you're in Cairns, you can't miss Rusty's Market! This bustling spot is packed with fresh produce from local farmers and artisans. You'll love the colourful and multicultural vibe, with tropical fruits, flowers, and a fantastic variety of eateries from different cultures. Quick tip: bring cash, as some stalls don't take cards, and don't forget your reusable bags. Rusty's Market is a true highlight and one of the best markets in Australia. Open Fri, Sat & Sun … Enjoy!

Fun market to visit, especially those who enjoy fresh produce. The prices are rather expensive- often more than supermarket and other produce market prices (with the exception of some of the most common local produce), which was disappointing. Friday has more selection and higher price. Sunday has fewer (some sold out) but lower price. Parking upstairs is very limited and almost always impossible to find parking.
Stalls include fresh fruit and veg, herbs, clothing, crystals, jewlery, plants, gifts, souvenirs, pet products, skincare, and of course, food stalls. There are perhaps only a dozen food stalls but plenty of happy customers.
Food stalls includes diced fruit, papaya salad, wraps, noodles, baked breads and cakes, pastry, smoothies.
I’d say it takes 1/2 hour for brief walk-through and over an hour if you’d like to explore more. Best to do a walk-through before coming back to decide on what to buy.

If you live in Cairns or are visiting the town, Rusty's Market is the place to visit for your fruit and vegetables both for variety and price. Others items are available in the market but are not necessarily as good value as shops. Worth a visit.

Although this market sells mainly fresh fruit and vegetables, it does also offer a variety of other offerings such as cooked food, coffee, knick knacks, pastries, freshly squeezed juice, massages and more. This market is open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The quality of the produce is the best I’ve seen at any markets. If I was a Cairns local I would be visiting this market every week. It also offers different types of fruits that we don’t see in Brisbane.

The only negative comment I will make is that seating for dining is very limited. When we bought food we had to stand up and eat it.

Colourful, buzzing, great range of fruit and veg, plus the odd live singer, cafe with awesome breads and cakes, and a few jewellery/craft stalls. A must do, even just to take photos. Four avocados for $2! Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday only.

A vast and extensive farmers market with heaps of variety. From supermarket stables to more exotic fruits and vegetables this market offered a lot. All of the produce we purchased was much cheaper than supermarket prices. All of the food stalls looked delicious as well. Try the sugarcane juice it went down a treat.

Nice range of fruit and veg but one the stores were selling rotten Sapote at $12/kg. Store person made an effort to pick good ones but came hope and cut it to find the fruit is rotten. Waste!!

Some stores need to store produce better before selling. They were selling mushrooms cling wrapped on a tray for $6. No refrigeration and they were out in hot cairns weather. After only a day in my fridge the mushrooms got mouldy!!

Very poor experience at Rusty’s. Also it’s over priced for fruit and veg. Don’t waste your time and money here!!

The market is open Friday/Saturday/Sunday and is energetic and vibrant. Full of fruit and vegies, knick’ knacks, a small butchery and meals to eat there or takeaway. There is a specialist Vietnamese coffee shop in Grafton St entrance. Always busy. Top value but there are crowds.

Decided to go to Rusty’s this Friday past and was feeling quite excited. I usually like a good market. Parked a little way away as it was so busy on the road. It looked huge from the street. On entering I was somewhat disappointed. The markets were the same as everywhere else. Not impressed with the quality of the products and particularly the tropical fruits. Expected them to be excellent and they were just ok. I’m a south east Queenslander and I think ours are way, way better. As I entered the building further I looked up into the ceiling and was amazed to see dust, dirt, spiders, cobwebs and goodness knows what else was there. I’m not sure how compliant the traders are with council regulations but down south it would be a massive fail. Also did notice a lot of cut and packaged products were not refrigerated or labeled. Again council should be on top of this.
Go if you like average I’m not making a second trip there.

Sold me two ‘so called’ antique bronze elephants with apparent verdigris to show age. This was actually green chalk/plaster used to fill and cover holes where he had filled with sand to make heavy.
As I was on a cruise unable to face him with this deception.
So much for good memories of Rusty’s market and Cairns!
