3 night Luxe Life Package $$$$. We thought why not treat ourselves to some luxury. Checked in and went to our room to start 3 nights of rest and relaxation. All went smoothly until it came time to get a good night sleep and that is when it all went down hill disipte the fact that there was a comfortable bed and we were in need of a good night sleep. The room was level with the tops of the trees and those trees were full of birds that scwarked most of the night, which even with the room locked up you could still hear them at an unacceptable level (little if any sleep that night. If that noise was coming from the room next door they would of been asked to keep the noise down. That is how loud it was). The next morning, exhausted and emotional from the lack of sleep I went to reception to ask if we could change rooms. I was told that they were fully booked and offered a room and was told that the day manager would contact me to discuss our options. I then asked for, not offered, ear plugs in case we had to spend another night in that room (I didn't receive a call so we spent another night, they did reduce the noise slightly, not completely). The next day I asked for more earplugs as we had to spend the last night in that room. On the last night I even considered sleeping in the hotel lobby to try and get some sleep.
I did receive a call from the day manager the morning of our check out and she was apologised and offered to look after us if we returned as well as covering our $33 room charge and transportation to the airport. This was a lovely gesture but doesn't give us back the rest and relaxation we expected.
Apparently the bird issue is seasonal an the hotel is not sure when these birds will return. Note: This is not the first bad review about this room for the same issue, I should of checked the reviews prior. Lesson learnt. I understand that there is not much that can be done or is there?
I suggested no. 2 & 3 to reception staff / the day manager and got the impression that they are not an option.
1. Keep a record of when these birds return (there could be a pattern if they are seasonal).
2. Advise customers that you are aware that they may not get the rest they are expecting and offer earplugs.
3. Thicker glass panels in the windows and doors for noise reduction (small expense for customer comfort and possibly a tax deduction).
4. It is not a better option to have 1 dissatisfied customer for 3 nights than 3 dissatisfied customers for 3 individual nights (aim to ensure satisfaction for all customers)

Had a fun time at Cairns Casino playing pokies. Staff friendly and happy to assist in any way they could. Drink service to machines was nice as this is not always available at city casino’s. Live music playing in pub-like area within casino but away from noisy machines and tables. Small venue but worth a visit for a fun night out.

Nice decor and facilities. Staff were generally helpful. Drinks were a little expensive. ATM available but only $50 minimum withdrawal and multiple bank fee charged. Worth a visit.

We stayed a Saturday night at this hotel and would be very happy to do so again. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating which is always a winner for me. The hotel itself was clean and modern, rooms were similarly clean and comfortable. My wife went a little extra to get the inlet view and that was worthwhile to enjoy the small deck.
The location was obviously ideal if you are looking to visit the casino, though not our focus. Instead, we felt it was well placed at the bottom of the CBD, on a corner running directly into the main streets. Being at the south end of the Esplanade encouraged a nice browse/walk of the eateries/retail and close to the public lagoon. Very convenient and avoided the more urban/busy feel of being in the middle of town. The Hemingway’s Brewery was across the road and has a nice aspect to it as it sits on the inlet. Plenty of eats nearby but we enjoyed a tasty and affordable meal at the Soy Kitchen/Bar 26 attached to the Hotel and would recommend this for its convenience and food quality. May want to book ahead if you want to try the tempting sounding Tamarind Restaurant. Only issue, for my wife, was getting a coffee after midday( on the weekend) if you didn't want to go into the casino, but she found one. Else, all good.

Toni - couldn't do enough for us. She explained how to play KENO, and how to change the poker machines from 2cents to 5cents, and even explaining how to claim our winnings. All staff members were outstanding - love my cocktails made by Jazzi-tall red haired young lady. Simply amazing place.

We spent few hours here just having a drink and playing the pokies. Collection of winnings is done by inserting a card to transfer the money which you later put into another machine for collection. The reef live floor display was very beautiful and nice touch on the way in. Live music was playing good songs

The Hotel is beautiful in itself but really let down by shabby restaurants and cafe for breakfast and coffee. The Casino is fun but after a certain time the visitors are like a who’s who of dross. X However can I say the Full marks are given for Matthew the Consierge. He is brilliant in he made the trip just right I hope he gets the commendation he deserved. He was excellient

Where do i start. water costs $5.00. If you know pit boss its free. Most expensive water ever. Im talking about Casino, not hotel. Spend a fortune and cannot get a bottle of water. They only want you drinking alcohol. The worst poker machine chairs also. No room to move between machines , chairs too heavy to move , and if you are not 6 feet tall eye level is below the window and you crane your neck to look ip.

Went in for dinner at Flinders grill. Staff were polite and the food was reasonably good. The issue was that there is an inadequate amount of seating. People were walking away as the place was full and there is no real plan B. The only other option was to go upstairs where they only have 4 items on the reduced menu. The very small lounge area had enough seating for about 20 people and just about every seat was torn or dirty. Needs work.

We stayed here for 5 nights on a Luxury Escapes deal. While not cheap, it is in fact as good as they say. Rated at No 2 in Cairns at the time of this review, it did live up to its name. Plenty of places to eat and drink, friendly and helpful staff and on site parking at $12/day. Room was excellent. especially the bathroom with double sinks and separated toilet. While not a complaint, the lounge was starting to show wear on the fron edges, but was still comfortable none the less. Very handy location, just out of the CBD which was good on the weekend whenthe town goes a bit nuts. SHor walk to other restarants and right by the jetty wherethe boat tours go from. Well done.

If I'm from the US and visiting casino am I allowed to gamble?
Written 13 January 2019
Yes. All visitors over 18 are allowed to gamble. Please take a good form of ID with you
Written 13 January 2019
The simple answer is yes. BUT it is up to the discretion of the door people, so my suggestion is to have a spare pair of shoes with you - sandals are fine to slip on if needed. Why go all the way there to be (unlikely as it is ) turned away
