When you can't take a dip in the sea that has seen crocodiles and some deadly species of Jelly fishes closer to shores, what do you do? You create one that looks like one. This massive pool, is divided into many parts, catering to every age. It opens way early and closes late in the night, and that's nothing less than impressive.

Excellent pool in Cairns. Swam regularly on our visit. Central in city and great facilities. The council should be proud of its lagoon area😄

Large space of water near the city overlooking the sea. Surrounded by plenty of green space with options for undercover area’s with bbq’s. Lockers are available with toilets/showers. During certain times lifeguards are on duty. Early afternoon seemed to be the busiest time. Was wonderful to sit as the sky changed with the sunset. Free and easy way to cool off - just pick your time as it is popular with families.

The lagoon was very large, clean and right on the boardwalk looking over the harbour . The best thing is that it’s totally free. It’s something you don’t see in most cities around the world- apart from Australian ones anyway... yes it’s a public pool, so for those who have whinged about that on other reviews, I suggest you swim in your bath if you are so freaked out by sharing a pool with other people! It was very clean anyway when we went .

Lifeguards on duty, varying depths of the pools, popular spot to soak. Close to centre of town with good amenities.
