We travelled up on the cable car and back on the train. Great way to see spectacular scenery. First time on the cable car - so good On the train don't worry if you find someone else in your seats - train staff were helpful moving us to an empty carriage!

A trip by train to Kuranda, a walk around Kuranda and gondola ride over the rain forest back to Cairns. Three stops at vantage viewing points. Then into the Heritage a Centre. An absolute must in Cairns. Fantastic presentations and demonstrations. Lots of audience participation, eg Speer and boomerang throwing ..

We chose to travel up on the train, which is slow, but relaxing. Very informative commentary, providing historical details on the railways construction. Although for most of the journey the scenery is completely covered by thick greenery, there are certain spots along the way that provide the most exquisite scenery and photo opportunities. Also, although the Barron Falls were no... More

Sky rail very good. Impressive to learn how they did it. Markets average. Railway to long and boring.

I you can, take the skyrail up and back. Its an excellent view of Cairns. Couldn't see much from the train as the scrub was quite thick and it took about 90 minutes for the journey. The Kuranda markets was great. If you drive up to Kuranda, only takes about 30 minutes, but get there before 11.00am so you can... More

A great experience travelling on the old train up the mountain to Kuranda, which is an experience in itself. The train trip was fascinating, and the guides very informative. Some great photo spots. Shopping in Kuranda is interesting, and typical of these sort of locations, and we found a way to spend some $$'s. The return journey was also fascinating,... More

This was our second visit to Kuranda and we still don't know why it merits the title of "Heritage Village". The craft shops have some interesting items but no more than any other craft shop you might visit. The restaurants and shops all start closing at about 2pm! The sky train might have a good aerial view of the rain... More

Fantastic Cable car ride in the Eco forest area. Many interesting views on the way. We went up and back down without stops. Found this the best.

For everyone visiting Cairns, Kuranda Scenic Railway is a must. Great scenic views and also a chance to board the longest sky rail in the world
