Me and my partner had a nice time with Richard and Masa on RumRunner 2-3 October 2021. The crew have done plenty of these trips and are easy to be around. Food provided is simple but tasty. Vegan options provided if notified when booking however was more salad options and not much protein provided that was not animalistic. Overall experience was good, it’s definitely a budget option but you do really get your money’s worth. Only constructive comments are that it wouldn’t hurt to upgrade some of the equipment / gear. I was personally wearing a wetsuit that was falling apart at the seams, as well was other people. We “ran out of” of any alcoholic beverage despite many of us didn’t drink anything until after the last (6th dive, on the return day). Was a shame at that point since we had been holding off until finishing all diving before wanting a cold beer. Would recommend bringing your own bevvies just in case! :) We would both gladly do the trip with RumRunner again but would bring our own wetsuits to avoid being cold during the many dives.

One night out on the Great Barrier Reef with the Rum Runner, Captain Richard, Ebony, Bear and the other guests (who are now all friends) was incredible. I have come away with a yearning and passion to be back! The experience was far more sincere and personal and I would definitely recommend this over going on one of the large, fit-as-many-people-as-we-can providers. Rich and the crew were knowledgeable, very supportive and great fun. I would recommend this to everyone!

We had an amazing time - enjoying the GBR with knowledgeable, passionate and friendly staff. Diving and snorkelling was the focus and being fed hot meals in between was lovely. Accommodation is basic as we expected but that was fine. My two kids aged 12 & 14 did 5 dives (for the first time) with an experienced and supportive dive instructor - they had the time of their lives. Highly recommended.

Super 2 day trip on the Great Barrier Reef. Richard and the crew were all so friendly and helpful and really wanted us to have a good time. There are 6 options to dive/snorkel so plenty to see. I hadn't dived in a long time but the staff were really reassuring and I felt super safe the whole time. The night dive was my favourite! There is also an opportunity to try diving for people that haven't done so before. We were fed really well (hot meals, plus snacks + tea/coffee and soft drinks/beer to buy, which were not expensive) and dietary requirements were catered for. Because it is a small boat, it can feel a bit cramped at times, this is not a luxury cruise! But it is insane value for money! I would recommend this company to anyone who wanted a close up personalised trip to the reef with knowledgeable, friendly guides.

Captain Richard and his friendly team run a safe and relaxed operation with good food, comfortable accommodation and good humor. While the diving on the Ribbon Reefs was excellent - swimming with the magnificent Minke Whales was not only a great privilege but an awesome experience. If luxury is important to you find another operator but if you are after a wonderful experience that doesn't break the bank get yourself on a Rum Runner trip.
