About
Cairns Taxis provides door to door passenger transport service throughout the Cairns taxi district. As well as the central business district, this covers the coastal area generally from Ellis Beach to the north to Wrights Creek, just south of Edmonton. The company operates a fleet of 137 government licensed taxi vehicles comprising sedans and station wagons for up to four passengers, maxi taxis for up to 10 passengers as well as wheel chair capable vehicles. With in excess of 500 government authorised affiliated drivers the fleet operates around the clock every day of the year. Vehicles are equipped with computerised booking and dispatch facilities including GPS technology to enable dispatch of the nearest available car. Each taxi is equipped with electronic payment facilities enabling payment through all the major credit cards recognised in Australia.

Ubers are so frekld. Would not recommend nevr turn up unrealisable what else can I say? They also charge you for cancellation

Terrible service. Don't book them for anything important/time sensitive. We booked a day in advance to be taken to cruise terminal. When the taxi didn't arrive we called them up and was told that none of the drivers had bid on the job yet. The guy also said "it is hard to get a taxi on a Sunday". 20 minutes later a taxi arrived but despite our protests, the driver ignored us and zig, zagged through the back streets rather than using the dual carriageway, adding another ten minutes to the journey.

Very good taxi booking system and we used Cairns Taxis on three occasions and cannot fault them once .all requested pickups arrived within 5 minutes and if we stated a certain time the taxi was prompt and you received an SMS to tell you your car will be arriving shortly and make way your outside.
i wish other states would take the lead that this Cairns Taxi service had in place .

We went too and from the same place every day Indian drivers $10 to $15 dearer than English drivers taxi needs to be updated so this doesn’t happen

A very good telephone booking system backed by mostly excellent drivers. However one driver shot past the pickup address and we were expected to cross the road to him. Another elderly driver had no idea of our destination and so we walked three blocks

The taxi collected a workmate and I from the Cairns airport, no air conditioner on and everytime I pressed the button to put my window up the driver put it down, 4 times this happened without him saying a word.
He had no photo ID on display and cut straight through roundabouts changing from lane to lane with no indicators.
Took both hands off the wheel while driving to put the lid on his flask he had been drinking out of.
Then tried to charge us both the fair, so dodgy.

Ordered an early morning taxi , for 4.15am.The driver was outside a couple of minutes before he was due, which was very reassuring. Price was reasonable given the unsociable time of day, and the driver was polite and helpful

We took twice the same taxi (number 306) and the driver was very rude and loud. He became aggressive when we questioned the 10.60 starting fee for n a Sunday for a maxi cab.
I never managed to find the clear information about the tariffs.

We booked a taxi from our hotel to the airport at 4:45am. Unfortunately, our taxi never arrived and while they sent a message to say there would be a delay, that wouldn’t be any good if we missed out flight. After 30 minutes, we had to cancel our booking and call an Uber.
Two other groups had the same experience from our hotel and all ended up requiring an Uber.

Tried to book a cab for a specific time next morning. Operator was not interested in providing a taxi at a requested time, instead in a rude manner kept on asking me as to why do I need to leave at my chosen time.
“I’ll ask you again, what time is your appointment?” I kept on hearing.
“I’d like to book a pick up at 8am please” I kept on repeating.
“Can’t you hear me? What time is your appointment?”.
After I while I just said: “Never mind. Thanks. Bye.”
Uber it is.
