About
Hi my name is Brett and I'd like to tell you about my delicious and fantastic Food and Wine tasting adventure showcasing the spectacular Atherton Tablelands. A Foodie tour from Cairns you will thoroughly enjoy and remember. This boutique food and wine experience from Cairns will be tasting some of the best food and wine that the Atherton Tablelands has to offer. We will take you through a variety of contrasting landscapes, from lush rainforest to stunning ochre savannah plains. The rich volcanic soil allows farmers to grow many and diverse crops from Bananas, coffee, sugar cane, avocados, mangoes, macadamia nuts, citrus and more which you will learn about as we taste our way around the regions 'Food Bowl.' Sit back and relax, take in the beautiful views as we take you on a fascinating and tasty journey through another gem of Far North Queensland.

Bridget was a fantastic, enthusiastic, and informative guide. This is an all day affair where you will get to learn about the wonderful region around Cairns with tons of history and facts about the wildlife you may encounter. Get ready to eat and no two stops are the same, you’re going to get a taste of everything this scenic and enchanting area has to offer. Highly recommend!

This was definitely a maximum rating. Out guide, Bridget, was excellent. She filled us in on all the sites, told us interesting stories and made the day fun. Small group bonded very well.
Then there was the food. Breakfast, Cider's and jellies, lunch and wine tasting, cheese and chocolate, fruits and nuts, ice cream. Wear expandable pants, it was very good.
Highly recommend.

We had the most excellent full day tasting tour - from pick up at our hotel in Palm Cove first thing - to drop off later that afternoon! Brett was a fabulous tour guide - happy to share his love and knowledge of the region with us!

We did the Saturday tour and it ended up being just 7 on the bus, plus Brett. We loved that this tour also was for adults only!

And because we were in a smaller group and the traffic was kind - we got to see more a little more of the Atherton tablelands than we would otherwise from a scenery perspective.

The pace of the tour was excellent - all the stops were well spaced so that you didn't actually realise how much driving was happening. Brett's knowledge of all the places we visited was brilliant and we especially loved getting to visit stops that bigger operators are not able to (like Rainforest Bounty).

Our first stop was breakfast at The Teahouse on Lake Barrine and we got to pick from quite a few options prior to the tour start, so that it was ready at the venue not long after we arrived. I chose the bruschetta and it was hands down the most beautiful tomato based bruschetta I've ever had! BUT I'm told that the smoked bacon is totally not to be missed - and my husband concurs! This definitely set us up for the day - with lovely tastings at all the stops.

Another highlight was lunch at the Australian Platypus Park where we got to observe Platypus in their natural habitat - it was amazing! AND then the lunch was a fabulous mix of small items on your plate - the best (for me) was the kangaroo kebab, the meat was SO tender, and I know that can be hard to achieve with roo meat! But everything was REALLY good tbh - nothing was left on the plate, that's for sure!

In the afternoon our stops included Gallo Dairyland (Omg the cheese is divine! As well as the small handmade chocolates) and Mt Uncle Distillery where I ended up getting their Ooray Gin made from Davidson Plum - quite delicious (Ooray is the aboriginal word for Davidson Plum)

Totally a brilliant day and I can 100% recommend! And as an added bonus - a percentage of each ticket goes to the Reforest project - every tree is planted on the Atherton Tablelands in the Mabi Forest and helps remove the CO2 impact we create as well as preserving native plants and wildlife.

The tour was well organised, I was kept informed on pickup times and it was easy to book. The guide was friendly, knowledgeable and approachable answering all questions with confidence. The range of stops showcasing the local produce was impressive with some venues opening just for the tour group. I was impressed with the quality of all the food and drinks. A great way to spend a day.

We learned so much and Brett’s sense of humour kept us laughing and enjoying ourselves all day long.

In addition to the great views and tasting experiences, our tour guide Brett provided a fascinating , in-depth commentary along the way. Brett has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the Atherton tableland, past and present which he shares in the vibrant, witty style of a true North Queensland local.

Brett has good local connections with the venues included in the tour and our stops went like clockwork - we’d arrive and there would always be a great tasting experience awaiting us without delay.

Despite warning us there was no guarantee of viewing the elusive platypus (one of the world’s rarest viewed creatures in their natural environment), Brett gave us the best tips for getting a look at one. Being quiet, patient and watching for the bubbles is the key and we managed to see several, even though it was mating season. Platypus Park was a highlight for us. It’s a peaceful, unspoilt, natural place.

We only had limited time on our holiday and found that this tour provided a great way of seeing and experiencing the best natural attractions of the Atherton Tableland in one day. Highly recommended.

Had such a nice day getting to taste lots of things! Our guide was Brett himself and he was so kind and informative. Already when boarding the shuttle in the morning, he was full of energy and introduced us to everyone on the bus which was nice. The whole journey he was giving us lots of information on the Tablelands and everywhere we were driving through. The first stop was at Lake Barrine Teahouse for coffee and breakfast and then we headed to a place that does delicious jams. At lunch we got to try things like kangaroo and crocodile - both not my favourite but very Australian! We also got to try some different wines and Baileys. This location is also where we went platypus spotting. We had heavy rain so we weren't expecting to see any because we had umbrellas and they might have mistaken us for predators, but we actually saw one which was amazing! Afterwards we went to Gallo Dairyland and got to try different cheeses and chocolate! We then moved on to have some tropical fruit tasting, custard apple was a first for me and so good! We then went to Mt Uncle Distillery where we were introduced to various different gins and whiskeys and got to taste three of them. Last stop was at Macalister Brewery Company where we got to have our choice of beer or wine before heading home. All locations we went to were beautiful and the people working there so nice and welcoming. Brett was an amazing guide and you could tell how passionate he is at his job. If you don't eat meat, there ae vegetarian options, and I'm not really an alcohol drinker but still appreciated all the places. Also, places are always opening and closing, so some destination stops might change, but Brett always finds an alternative so you don't miss out! Would definitely recommend if you like to eat and drink and want to see the Atherton Tablelands!
