Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It is an enjoyable way to spend a morning or afternoon to catch a ferry from the city to this university campus. The sandstone-facades of the historic buildings around The Great Court are very impressive and if you are there later in the year, the jacarandas, poincianas and poinsettias will be in flower. The gardens in the grounds are attractive and both the Zoology Museum and Geology Museum are worth seeing.

We arrived by ferry and we didn't walk through the whole campus. We visited two days after Christmas so it was pretty deserted and there was no food to be had. The lakes/ponds were enchanting. We saw turtles galore, eels, iguanas (or some kind of lizard), birds. There were various kinds of vegetation. I like that they are trying to restore the biodiversity of the area. Lovely grounds.

My wife and i were sending my son off to study here as an overseas student this February. Therefore, we wanted to check out the main campus in St. Lucia. UQ is rated as the best Australian university, and numerous independent rankings all give this university around the 50th mark in the world. A great academic institution usually has a great campus, and UQ is no different. Located on parkland, UQ is serviced by excellent public bus transit. In fact, the buses run on dedicated roads that are like subways above ground in Brisbane. The transit links the campus to all major points in Brisbane. Just this sort of public transit is exceptional and outperforms most North American universities. We have also checked out the Campus Residence---the International House, an area of many dormitory buildings that are low rises and surrounded by tropical plants which look like a Caribbean resort complex to me. The buildings are designed to be conducive to a relaxed and quiet atmosphere for academic learning; just excellent facilities. We have even sampled the dormitory food, which is better than our neighbourhood restaurants back home. During our tour, we came upon a cafe--the St. Lucy Caffe et Cucina, an Italian restaurant. We had the most delicious pizza there. To top it off, i had a Shanty, beer mixed with the original Schweppes Ginger Beer---something that i couldn't even find on my recent London trip. Just the availability of the beverage itself was worth the tour for me!! cheers.

The University of Queensland at St Lucia is one of Australia's leading universities. It is a Group of Eight university .It is described as an elite "sandstone university." It is a picturesque campus, with lush sub-tropical foliage. The ponds harbour fauna not found at other universities. The University of Queensland maintains high academic standards. It is well known for research into human biology and medical chemistry.

Set on great parklands near the Brisbane river Queensland's first University at St Lucia is well worth the visit. You can access it by car through the city via Coronation Drive or on the Southside via Ferry and footbridge at Dutton Park near the cemetery..but this way is not recommended at night.. smile.

A great way to experience the history of Brisbane.
A hidden gem. Walk along the waterfront from the city through park lands past iconic buildings all the time less than 10-15 mins from the heart of a fantastic city.

We are a couple planning on staying near the University for a few weeks 28/9 to 17/10. Any suggested accommodation on campus or nearby very welcome. Thanks. Sean Spillane.
