To be very clear: we enjoyed this trip and had a good time, but at this price point, there’s definitely room for improvement.
1. Snorkeling: about 45 minutes of the trip. Do not come expecting the Great Barrier Reef. You’re here to snorkel the shipwrecks that have become small reefs. We saw a number of fish and corals, but this is not Finding Nemo. This is not at all a complaint, just clarification. The snorkeling itself was great, good water visibility, strong but easy to navigate current. Beaches were pristine, snorkel equipment in good repair. Our biggest complaint is the etiquette of the other passengers, particularly a large number of first-time snorkelers. While the charter obviously cannot control the actions of individuals, I think this could be corrected with some additional education on self awareness when snorkeling. This could also be improved with smaller groups - there were too many people for the size of the wrecks and the speed at which we were moved along. Unaware passengers were constantly swimming directly into us, kicking us, etc because they couldn’t be bothered to look what they were doing. As experienced snorkelers, this was frustrating but not necessarily the fault of the crew/charter.
2. Food: the prawns were AMAZING and cole slaw was good, but we didn’t much care for the rest. It’s a cold lunch. Come prepared to purchase expensive drinks, as the only complimentary drinks are hot coffee, hot tea, and tiny cups of lukewarm tap water.
