Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Small venue means you are all pretty much in the front row.
Toilets were from last century and could do with an update.
Drinks were expensive but I guess they pay for part of the comedy or the venue. Bar staff do not know how to make cocktail and were struggling to know what beers they had, I had to convince 2 staff that did sell my beer over there no no down a level no no over a bit yes that the one, thank fully they did know how to take the bottle cap off:)
Alright place but powerhouse is much nicer

It’s a little cramped on the ground floor space and tables are shared with others who aren’t necessarily part of your group. But that’s ok. The MC was funny and clever and had us laughing from the beginning. We enjoyed all the acts with plenty of laughs. The beer was a little expensive but at the end of the night we were all given a two for one drink voucher to use in the main bar area upstairs. Overall we enjoyed our first night there are are likely to return. Thanks for the laughs.

My family and I went here to watch Akmal the comedian and although he was good I think the way the venue sort of packed us in like sardines could've been dealt with better and to have 10 people at a table where most of them you don't even know feels a bit wrong and should be changed

The food is below average. They served cheese and bacon garlic bread which was cold in the centre. It was like week old break. Hard in the centre. I asked them to have another go. To say I was disappointed in an understatement. Even the rib fillet I ordered was one of the worst steaks I’ve ever had. Not one to complain online about something but truly if you plan to come here. Eat first! Then come for the great comedy acts

I didn't know what to expect from a comedy night like this in somewhere like Brisbane but the standard of comics was surprisingly good. As with all nights like this some were better than others, but two or three were so good I couldn't believe they weren't household names. Definitely worth a visit if you fancy a laugh.

This is my first time that I have gone to the Sit Down Comedy Club. It is definitely an adults only venue as the jokes (and language) can be really but also side splitting funny. If you are politically correct or minority sensitive then this is not your place. Great night, enjoyed by all.

Staff were lovely, food was great, entertainment excellent. We had great seats for a clear view of the stage, without twisting the neck.

I went to the sit down comedy club for my first ever gig there. Firstly. It’s not a great view for a comedy show. Large poles are in the way whilst empty seats had a clear view of the stage. Secondly. And more disappointingly. The staff are rude and have no idea on creating a great atmosphere for a COMEDY GIG. I was talking to one of the support acts at the bar. On my 2nd light beer. Sharing a laugh. And some 20 something bar tender tells me “I think your next drink should be water mate” I explained I was driving and drinking light beer and he scoffed at me and said “Righto mate”. Having worked a bar myself. I agreed and drank water to placate him. Then had to sneak up 3 flights of stairs to buy another light beer. Next. I was asked by two female staff to stop Laughing so much during the gig! It’s a COMEDY SHOW! I was warned if I was to keep laughing I would have to leave. I informed them I knew the comedian personally and that I came here to laugh. The reiterated their threat and honestly. Ruined my whole night. Pathetic attitude. Rude and condescending to patrons. Will not go back. Such a shame as I was looking forward to seeing my boy perform for so long. These incompetent young staff members on a power trip ruined a great night. Fail.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review of our venue - we appreciate all feedback, whether it be great or constructive. Please know that the placement of every single seat in the club takes the venue’s structural support poles into account - we (SDCC staff) even sit in the chairs ourselves before the show to make sure that they all have clear sight lines to the stage. Patrons have been known in the past to take it upon themselves to move their seats in a way that impacts the view of the stage for other people at their shared table, however we always address and correct this on the night as soon as it is brought to our attention.
Based on the photo attached to your review and your mention of this being your first visit to our venue, we’re guessing that your review refers to one of US comic Andrew Schulz’s shows on the night of 25th September. If so, we’re a little confused by your comment of ‘empty seats’ - both of Andrew’s shows were completely SOLD OUT, to the point that we actually released additional tickets to the public above the original allocation, yet still had to turn people away on the night who wanted to see the shows. We can categorically state that there were absolutely no empty seats in the venue that night.
We’re glad that you found Andrew entertaining and that he made you laugh so much. We have absolutely no problem with people laughing during a gig - that’s kinda the whole point to what we do! On the night is it possible that we asked if you could please lower the level of your laugh, rather than outright telling you to stop? Loud noises (both talking and/or laughing) during a show can distract the performer on stage which in turn is detrimental to the experience of other patrons in the club. As such, we have a duty to all patrons and performers to minimise those kinds of disruptions as soon as they occur. We apologise if this was not clearly explained to you on the night and will follow up with our staff so that we can improve our communication procedures for any and all future instances of this type of issue happening.
In relation to your interactions with the bar staff, The Paddo Tavern looks after all the food and beverage service in the club, so we will absolutely pass on your comments to them for investigation and follow up.
Once again, we thank you for your review. We do hope that after reading the above and understanding why what happened on the night happened, you will come back to visit us again in the future for a great night out.

We booked to see American comedian Josh Wolf - my favourite comedian so we knew before going here for the fist time that the comedy was going to be good - he didn't disappoint. The comedy club it self is quite small but they fit quite a few people in. We had dinner there - steak, chips and salad. It wasn't amazing but wasn't awful either. The seating arrangements are long tables of around 10 people. We had a booking for 4 and then the other seats were people we didn't know. There is parking on site a bar in the club and also up stairs in the pub.
