Went on the original toowong cemetery tour. Natalia was fantastic as a story teller. She played her part very well. I was very impressed by her knowledge and remembering EVERY story without needing to refer to any notes. She has a sense of humour and delivered the stories like a spooky story teller.
The cemetery itself was tidy and clean. Loved the bigger graves and architecture of the tombs as well.
We had a few guys around making drunken noise but Natalia made us feel reassured and continued the tour.
The cemetery is much much larger than i thought so comfy shoes and torch are a must and in the dark with no lights and if you wander from the group, you are on your own...

Having previously taken the Original Toowong Cemetery Tour with Brisbane Ghost Tours, I decided to take some friends and family on the Other Side tour of Toowong Cemetery. Taking in another part of the Toowong Cemetery, this tour added a different dimension to this vast necropolis. Our excellent guide, Natalia, conveyed many interesting stories of Brisbane's history, punctuated with some great ghost stories, all delivered with with a sense of spookiness! Visiting the Blackall Memorial at the top of the hill and learning more of the Governor's story provided an effective link to aspects of the Original Tour.

Don't forget to bring a torch... it gets very dark as you walk through the cemetery!

I look forward to taking some of Brisbane Ghost Tours' other tours and learning more of this area's rich history.

We , a mature couple, took my mother to the Boggo Road Gaol tour for the ghost tour.
This was a really great evening being told many excellent stories about the lives of the prisoners, guards and locals of the area, and of course the many spirits who roam different parts of the gaol. The Boggo Road Gaol in the evening is quite an eery place, with much evidence of graffiti on the walls from inmates, and fixtures and fittings of old, both broken and intact, each telling a story within themselves.

Our tour guide was confident, engaging her audience, and happy to share her knowledge with us.

She made the environment come alive and our imaginations run free!

Leigh - we are so beyond thrilled to hear that your experience on our Ghosts and Gallows Tour at one of our favourite tour sites...the eerie and notorious Boggo Road Gaol, was so evocative! Our guides are incredibly passionate about the dark history we cover on our tours, so to hear that they have helped the past come to life for you as well makes us very proud. Thank you kindly for taking the time to leave us such a glowing review, and we really hope you'll join us for round two, perhaps one of our popular local cemetery tours, again soon!

What I thought would be an exciting ghost tour turned out to be a disappointment and waste of money. My friend and I travelled down from the Sunshine Coast with the expectation of having paid for a 2 hour tour, but rather it was cut short by 45 minutes because the tour guide spoke far too quickly. In addition it was more of a history lesson than a ghost tour.

It must be said that this was the tour guides second solo tour. We only had the opportunity to briefly explore two buildings and the remainder to the tour was given to us outside in the 'circle' which took away the scary experience of hearing the stories inside of the cell blocks.

This tour may have been a different experience with a more experienced tour guide, but sadly we drew the short straw.

I do not recommend this tour unless you can guarantee you will be with a more experienced guide who will run the tour for the length of time as advertised.

Thanks for leaving your review of our Boggo Road Gaol Ghosts & Gallows Tour. Whilst your guide on ther night was new to the role, we understand that the tour not running for the allotted time is a gross error and not at all what we look to deliver in terms of an entertaining and fun experience at the gaol. Whilst we've been proactive in getting feedback and addressing any opportunities for improvement (as we do with all of our guides), that doesn't change the outcome of the night you attended. As the tour coordinator and seasoned guide for the Ghosts and Gallows Tour, I'd like to offer you another chance to see the gaol and get the full experience, with myself as your guide. I do understand it's a bother having to travel, but your tickets would be complimentary and we're happy to work around a night that works for you. As a small business, it's imperative we remedy any feedback that can be damaging to our brand but more importantly, that we deliver on the experience you had hoped for. Please let me know if you'd like to give us another chance - and thanks for taking the time to read this. ~ Shane @ Ghost Tour Australia.

Visited the ghost tour at Broggo Jail
Informative but to many people per tour.
Only some of the existing Jail still stands. So no gallows etc as stated.
Huge new modern building next door with lots of lights shining on the jail takes away the effect.
Our guide was on the boring side and we were stopping ever 2 minutes - lights on lights off.
Save your money people

Hi Kelly - please find clarification outlined below regarding this issues you have presented: (1) You only had 6 groups on your tour last night, with a total of 16 people (this is a small group by any standard) (2) Division 2 is the only remaining section of Boggo Road Gaol - as stated on our website and on our Facebook listing the tour includes tales of the gruesome gales and the tours includes the Gallows Exhibition including artefacts from the original gallows - this was on the tour. One of the original artefacts is the beam itself! (3) Lights on or off - because the gaol is dark at night (despite being next to the EcoSciences Building), torches are required when moving around the gaol for safety reasons and so that you can see where you are going. (4) An adult ticket is $45 - this includes a two hour guided tour through a heritage listed site with original artefacts + a copy of a book - Ghosts of Boggo Road by Jack Sim Please feel free to call us to discuss your concerns. We strive to ensure all of our guests enjoy their experience. In this case, we cannot identify where we have gone wrong as the information you have provided doesn't align with what is on offer here on the Ghosts and Gallows Tour.

Went on the Bogo Toad Ghost Tour and it started amazing with the warden all dressed up and totally in character. Sadly it then turned to a information tour being handed off to 3 other staff members that just provided information with the last one constantly checking her watch. It would have been such an amazing tour if we had the warden the whole time 😞 also tours were too close seeing and hearing all the other groups

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback, 344katrinaj. By your comments about the warder character, it sounds as though you joined us over the course of our special Halloween weekend. Typically our tours are either solely guide-led or they are re-enactment style tours with actors presenting as characters. However, the inclusion of the warder character was an element of the tours added as a special point of difference in celebration of our most popular weekend of the year, and was largely well received. This being said, we understand your insights, including your notes about tour volume and proximity, and have made a record of these to revisit in the lead up to planning future special events. In respect to your guide checking her watch for the time, due to the tight back to back nature of our Halloween tour schedule, our guides were under strict timelines to ensure all handovers happened smoothly and with ease. We can, however, appreciate that this may felt distracting to you during your experience on tour, and as such, we will be taking the matter up with the guide in question. In spite of the above, we do hope you enjoyed your time overall being locked up with us behind bars, and had a wonderfully spooky Halloween weekend!

Unfortunately this was not what we expected. Yes there were ghost stories however none were scary. I would not recommend this tour if you are wanting a proper ghosts tour it’s more like story time. Whole family were disappointed

Hi Kathy - our tours are historic ghost tours and share real ghost stories as told from prisoners and officers dating back to the 1930s. We do not use props or scare tactics to dramatise our experiences. We are sad to hear that you were disappointed by the history and the historical ghost stories of this site.

This was a daytime prison tour. Our guide waS very knowledgeable she had been working here for 8 years, you can tell she enjoyed her job. There were only 4 families and I thought how could we possibly tour for 1.5 hours but wow very interesting enjoyed viewing the cells and yard picturing a day in the life. I wish the tour were longer we did go over 1.5 hours by a 15 or so minutes which was great
..I enjoy reading the info on the prisoners which was a bit rushed however I see it as a reason to tour again. My 12 year old loved it but 10 year old wasn't as interested in learning about the individual prisoners ( too bad for him 😀)
I will be trying another tour in the future and would recommend to anyone interested in the history and heritage and checking out prison life

Wow, V1214GDtiffanyn - we were so proud seeing this review come through. We want to thank you for taking the time to leave such thoughtful insights and comments about your experience on tour with us! The duration of our tours is something that we have continually and with much consideration, tweaked over time, so we are really thrilled to learn that you felt the time was sufficient, and that you thoroughly enjoyed your time behind bars, exploring the real cell blocks and learning a little more about our infamous prisoners. We look forward to welcoming you back to get locked up with us again, perhaps on our Escapes or Prisoner/Officer Tours, each with their own unique take on the Boggo Road Gaol history! Thank you once again for recommending us!

We did the Friday night Toowong Cemetery tour with Isabella and it was absolutely fantastic. Isabella was very experienced and knowledgeable about the cemetery and gave us plenty of time to ask questions, take photos and explore. We did have an interesting ‘experience’ during the tour and would highly recommend it those who are looking for something a bit special or different. Can’t wait to go again.

A waste of money and time.
My wife and I did a ghost tour of Lutwytch cemetery originally scheduled for 31st October but this was cancelled 6 mins prior to the start due to weather conditions. This was despite an email at 1 pm that day confirming that the tour would go ahead. This appalling lack of organisation cost us time and money, as we had already arrived at the cemetery by the time we got the cancellation notice. The organisers then proceeded to offer nothing but an apology and to reschedule our booking.
We then were able to attend the tour on the 28th November. The tour itself was terrible, the host was not at all dramatic and read from a script most of the time. In terms of ghost stories, there was one, one story. The whole rest of the time was a text book history lesson told with very little flair.
I would not recommend this to anyone.

We aim to run high quality experiences. As a small unique tourism company - receiving a one star review affects us all here deeply. We are again sorry your tour was cancelled due to the unprecedented extreme weather event on Saturday 31st October - Halloween night. In 22 years of operation, we have never experienced such an event. Brisbane and South East Queensland was hit with massive storms which included hail and heavy rain. Halloween night is the busiest night of the year for us with ghost tours being run at many different heritage sites. That evening we were running multiple tours across a 70km area. People travel from across the State to attend. At around 4.30pm a large storm cell struck Brisbane, and impacted different areas in different ways. Our booking coordinator was inundated with calls from customers whose vehicles, houses and possessions were being damaged and destroyed by hail on the northside of the city. It was a very difficult, upsetting, and evolving situation. At midday, when our email went out - that you received - we were reassuring customers that we would be going ahead unless the our guides at the actual site where each tour was running decided against it. This was to put decision in the hands of the guides who were on the ground so to speak. Typically, in South East Queensland thunderstorms blow themselves out by the time our tours commence. At Lutwyche, our guide was unable to get to the cemetery due to the driving hail and rain and advised our Coordinator in the interests of safety of clients and staff it should be cancelled. This was decided at 4.40pm. It took our Coordinator time to contact people by text and calls of this decision. Unfortunately you seem to have gotten this message late again we apologise. There was no intention or desire to leave you standing outside the cemetery waiting, and appreciate that you were disappointed that the tour was cancelled. Other patrons did not turn up as they received the messaging in time. We did telephone to apologise to you and every customer on the Lutwyche Cemetery Haunted History Tour (even though such a weather event is outside our control, and is covered in our terms and conditions), offer you a transfer, which you later accepted. I note when you contacted us, you requested compensation for the 'inconvenience'. The rescheduled tour on 28th November 2020 was specially organised for customers whose tour was affected by the storms. This cost us revenue to rerun a tour on one of our allocated tour nights, though we were happy to do so, so everyone got to still experience this tour. As for your criticism of the tour content, the tour is a combination of true ghost stories, hauntings and horrible local history, crimes and murder. That is the description on the website, and why you heard some history on the tour. Ghost stories take many different forms. If you are talking about actual ghosts which haunt the cemetery there were five such stories out of the 8 stories told, and the rest were a combination of weird phenomena, legends and true crime stories - such visiting the grave of killer John Andrew Stuart to tell how how Brisbane is haunted by the memory of the Whiskey Au Go Go. We have spoken to our guide and passed on your opinion that she delivered "A text book history lesson regurgitated with all the flair of a potato". Delivering great stories in an entertaining way is important to us. Our guide was anxious of making sure the tour was good as most of the people attending were all effected by the storm event. She was referring to her notes to ensure dates were correct - as that was only her fourth tour. We have spoken to the other customers on the tour you attended and got their feedback. We conducted four reviews - the other patrons rated the tour at 3, 4, 4, and 5/5. They advised that traffic noise from Gympie Road made it hard to hear stories at the start of the tour. The guide has also advised that she struggled with the noise. We are going to reconfigure the tour route and give our guide some training in voice projection and story delivery. This is a new tour and we are keen to listen to feedback. We encourage our customers to provide constructive feedback directly to us, with specific issues detailed so we can make changes if needed. We are real people, running a small, unique tourism operation – your comments are very strong, without a lot of detail. A representative will be in touch to try to find out what the actual issues are.
