About
Just upstream from the Story Bridge, the Brisbane Jazz Club sits on the river with wonderful views across to the city. Brisbane's best kept secret, the club operates every Thursday to Sunday night and a brunch on the last Sunday of every month. If you feel like having dinner, the Story Bridge Hotel chefs will cook your meal and serve it to you at your table or if you prefer, you can have a drink or a meal on our wonderful deck overlooking the water. There is also a free ferry next to the club which operates every 15 minutes between the Jazz Club and Eagle Street in the city. Brisbane Jazz Club turned 45 years old in 2017 which is testament to the success of this 'not for profit' organisation.

We went to see the band Soultown perform at this venue. We instantly felt welcomed and safe and enjoyed a drink on the o outdoor bar area before the performance. Let me tell you, the views were incredibly breathtakingly beautiful. I’ve never seen such a stunning view at a location like this one. Hamilton is such the host and we highly recommend visiting for a wonderful experience with fabulous music, food, views and good vibes.

Took our family visiting from Hobart - 2 adults and 2 teenagers - to share one of our favourite live music venues. The musicians Vicki Salisbury Trio and friends were great, very professional and experienced musicians with amazing CV's - had a lot of their our original songs and instrumentals along with a couple of popular standards. The music and musicians were outstanding, such a great band. The 15 year old said is was the highlight of his weeks holiday which included fishing, kayaking, swimming, mountain climbing, cycling, card games and relaxation.

Club is a cute old style club . The outside section that they also promote as part of the performance is in a totally separate section that is not part of the show. The video and sound are poor and the table are like a transit cafe with no effort made ( compared to inside)
So if you want to come and see the show DO Not think that you can enjoy it from the outside , yes there’s a view but that’s not what you are here for .
Food avoid it’s a Canteen style line up and order .Have a look at how that kitchen works and then decide. Bottom line tix only for inside and do not plan to eat.

What a wonderful venue. The music was superb and entertainment great.
The atmosphere is very cosy. Inexpensive meals and drinks. Limited range for vegetarians or those with special dietary requirements, but I'm sure if you contacted them they would find a way to meet any dietary needs.

The Brisbane Jazz club is located on the best stretch of the Brisbane River with the BEST view on the River; looking across at the city lights. I happened to be there as my daughter was playing trumpet in her school band during their Big Band Festival. Though I explained I was only going to be there for less than an hour while she played, they still scalped me for $15 just to walk in the door. I was then told, as I did not have a booking, that I could go outside or stand in the corner as all of the seating was taken - i.e., do not go there unless you have booked a table.
The staff may well be volunteers as the service was quite amateur. I have no doubt that all of the staff are very nice, but they were struggling with a normal saturday night. They were more concerned that everyone coming in had paid, that they had signed "the book" and that they knew where they could and could not sit rather than actually making people feel welcome as they entered. The difference between amateurs and professionals. For an "amateur club" they were still charging $12 for half a glass of $15 a bottle wine.
This could be a fantastic venue, in a fantastic place, but just doesn't get there. While it is pretty cramped, it lacks the atmosphere of your traditional jazz club. The building is old, the floor slopes, the tables are plastic and the sound is dodgy.
Worth a look, but don't get your hopes up.

Wow! We've just listened to some fantastic live jazz and had a lovely dinner. This place has a great atmosphere; staffed almost exclusively by volunteers and looks out onto Brisbane river with a beautiful deck. Highly recommend for a night out on the river in Brisbane.

Been a member for decades, can't beat it. My kids grew up here listening to jazz, and now are regular players. It is very friendly, and a great atmosphere. The club pays performers properly, there are many places who don't.

Catching the free ferry across the river and then the short walk to this unassuming riverside shed turned out to be the highlight of our 3-day trip to Brisbane.
With trumpet player, Dan Quigley, and his quintet, playing on a small stage with Brisbane city lights at night behind him through the panoramic windows, the venue was just perfect.
There were only about 60 people in the venue this evening, about half capacity of tables (more room for standing on sell-out nights I guess), the feeling was close and comfortable, without being being embarrassingly intimate. There was ample space for performers and audience. The front tables almost share the stage, but we were right at the back as we were late to arrive, but we were still close enough to hear every whisper... such a cool group.
I liked the printed reminders on the tables to be quiet and respect the musicians, reinforcing that people are here for the music, not to chat and party. There is time between sets for chatting, but the music is why you should go here.
The food was good and reasonably priced. Drinks were reasonably priced also.
The music was sensational. Dan Quigley, wow, such a quiet, deft and delicate touch on the trumpet. What a dude.
Yep, I'd come back.

Located right below the story bridge, I was attracted by the music when I took the free ferry across from the eagle street pier.
Live jazz music runs every Thursday to Friday. I went on a Friday night and went in late at around 9pm but great to catch some great 8-people band before they finished at 10pm. The atmosphere is very lively with people dancing on the petite dance floor next to to the bar.
Most of the people there seems to locals but I am welcomed by very friendly volunteers who run this club and directed me to visit their outdoor space which has a great view of the story bridge and across eagle’s pier.
I think this is definitely a great place to spend an evening where you can enjoy drinks, jazz music and a great view!

Thanks so much for this review. We are very proud of this amazing little place which has been running as a jazz club for 46 years now and loved by many. Hope you can come again.

First visit to this very wonderful place; specifically to listen to and watch the Claxton Street Jazz Band. Excellent food from Story Bridge hotel. The band where just what we expected (think Tuba Skinny and Ken Colyer) the club was just very intimate but so much fun.
Please relocate to UK !!

Hello, is it possible to dance at the Brisbane Jazz Club ? If not, could you suggest some hot places to dance (swing, blues, lindy, WC, etc.). Many thanks.

Can you see the main stage from the Annie St lounge?
Written 14 August 2017
Hi all. About to book a ticket here for the first time. Is it worth sittin on the deck for discount or would inside be better?
Written 5 August 2017
Inside is better, you will have better sound with good visuals of the artist. The deck is good in Summer.

Hi, is there a program online for february 2017 ????.
Written 10 January 2017
Hi so sorry I didn't see your question. Please check the website they have all the upcoming acts listed there. Cheers Liz

Has anyone sat in the River Lounge? Is it closed off from the stage? I can't work out if it's a good location or a bad one from the online booking system.
