Lovely place to visit if you want a piece of Brisbane history. It’s free to visit, a great place to cool down and catch your breathe in the warm weather while admiring the beautiful and historic architecture. Love the location of it as it’s not to far to get to and how it’s located around the fast paced and ever changing surroundings while remaining true to itself.
The building on the right is the original cathedral while on the left is now the current and bigger version. The glass murals are a combination of French and German style (special shout-out to the staff in attendance for the knowledge).
COVID-19 protocols are well in place and enforced (mandatory checkin and checkout, plenty of hand sanitizers around).

This church stands beside the Cathedral of St. Stephan and it was associated with Saint Mary McKillop, Australia's first Catholic Saint who taught school there.
Although in years gone by the Church was largely forgotten until major renovations were carried out in both the Cathedral and then the Church.
It is now faithfully renovated to its era and a popular meeting area for special functions.

It was my father who walked me through this hallowed hall, the greatness felt within the strength of its walls. On that first visit, We were here to pay respect for the loss of my child, the battles together we had faced, for which she had sadly lost her will to live. Yet, great comfort & peace was felt, as we lit a candle & then sat in the grounds - as is always found between us, my father and I, a lovely conversation took place, the discussion of how remarkable she was, the blessing given to us & the legacy she leaves behind, of my other beautiful daughter in her likeness also. My father shared more stories too - of how each year he had attended the Anzac march, he would visit this church, his special place - & reflect on his parents & brother now also in a permanent place of rest. We have been back to visit this church since that first introduction - have heard the sounds of beautiful orchestral music flowing out its doors, wandered inside to admire her windows & sat to remember not so much the love lost but rather the enormity of love we had received & still continue to feel. A remarkable community of people extend out far and wide from within such great halls like St Stephens, to provide care, comfort support for those in crisis or at time of need, but it should be remembered too as a great place of celebration & unity & to retain faith in all they do.

Located in the middle of the CBD, this church is a real contrast to its environment, which is definitely part of its charm.

Went with my husband to check the architecture and we received a beautiful lecture about its history. Each detail has a reason and you must listen that lecture to property admire this church's beauty!

We were fortunate when we visited this church in that a group of school children were practising for a concert, and at no cost we were able to enjoy their voices in a relaxing atmosphere.

The contrast of this classic style building amid skyscrapers was appealing, so we had to take a look inside. We were received very kindly by a man who told us the origins of the church.
As so often in Australia, the building proved to be not so old at all. The front part of the church even dated from the sixties (!) we were told. The nineteen-sixties, that is...
All in all a good place to come for religious reasons, but not so much for historical background.

If there's a garden or a church in a booming CBD that itself is a blessing. Open almost all day a moment to ponder or some minutes of solitude. Lovely structure and it's ancient.i have always been drawn to cathedral and churches for their magnificience so i am biased and 5 stars for just its existence. Stop by if you are passing by.

Could we uses this church to get married in? As my parents were catholics? I was also born into this religion. Kind regards Skivvy Sameli.
