The Gabba is the site of the first cricket Test against England, This tour, as usual, Australia won handily. It's a long time since England defeated Australia at the Gabba. The Gabba is also home ground for the Brisbane Lions, and hosted the 2020 Australian Football League Grand Final, a first for Queensland.

The Brisbane Lions scored the first three-peat of the Australian Football League era. The 2000s left no doubt that the Lions were a credible football team. The Lions were the result of a merger in 1996 between the Fitzroy Lions and the Brisbane Bears, neither of which had been successful in the modern era. Under Leigh Matthews, said to be the best footballer of all time, the Lions won three flags in a row, The AFL Womens team played in three grand finals and won one flag. The Lions home ground, its headquarters and training facilities are at the Gabba. The Lions have had some legenday players, including Michael Voss and Jonathon Brown. The Gabba was the venue for the 2020 AFL Grand Final, the first time the AFL Grand Final has been played outside Victoria. It's said that Queensland is a Rugby League state, but Queenslanders are proud to accept the Lions as their own.

I was in a wheelchair and got tickets for accessible seating for AFL game Lions vs Tigers. Absolutely disgraceful venue for Disabled. I recommend if you are in a wheelchair stay home. I was unable to be with my family and such a mission to get to seating. Shameful. My son had to manoeuvre me through crowds and queue for lift access after going from one end of stadium to the other. Shame on you for not making it easier for those disadvantaged physically

The Oval was in superb condition for the AFL Prelim Final. Very well organised by the officials making it easy to enter. Food and beverage facilities were good with friendly service. A good experience.

If you smoke ciggies don't go to this place as you can't go out of the ground for a smoke and come back in. No DOSA either so they are alienating and discriminating against smokers.

The Australian Football League (AFL) Grand Final will be held at the Gabba on Saturday 24 October 2020, at night. This will give the Queenslanders bragging rights for two firsts -- first AFL Grand Final outside of Victoria in 124 years, and first night Grand Final. It's no secret that a night Grand Final has been on the AFL HQ's wish list for a long while. The Cox Plate, the championship event of Australian thoroughbred racing, is being held on the same Saturday The AFL is being collegial by holding "the grannie" at night.. By the way, "the Gabba" derives from Woolloongabba, the central Brisbane suburb where the ground is situated. The Gabba is best known "down south" for the regular "tok-tok" of ball on bat during Test cricket broadcasts.

The Gabba is one of Australia's iconic stadiums. It's in the Brisbane suburb of Woolloongabba, from whence the name derives. Up until now, it's been famous outside of Queensland for Test cricket, but in the southern states it will be known as the first stadium outside of Victoria to host an Australian Football League (AFL) Grand Final. It will be the 124th AFL Grand Final. The Queenslanders are sport-minded, there is unlikely to be any trouble filling the stadium, especially as the Brisbane Lions have been doing well.

Travelled to the GABBA from Melbourne to watch the Renegades play in the BBL. I usually watch the Storm play against the Broncos at Suncorp Stadium so the GABBA is in the total opposite end of the city. Stayed in the West End and walked through Southbank to get to the ground. Easy and enjoyable walk to the GABBA. Great atmosphere in the ground with friendly customer service team. Easy walk back to the West End even at 10pm on a Sunday night

Went to watch The Heat play in The Big Bash and found it a truly brilliant night out. Nice cold beer, superb atmosphere, half time pyrotechnics simply excellent value and excellent helpers who were on hand to assist. Amazing to see such a diverse crowd with many families there which really made it special! The only downside was the over priced and poor quality food

I have booked tickets to see the Brisbane vs Collingwood game next week and I have booked tickets in section 21 just wondering if this is a licensed area? And will I have to be a member to sit in this section? I will be going through Gate 10?

It’s a personal thing, I hate the food at these arenas, pies, chips, burgers etc
There are several good restaurants within 6 minutes , say Logan Road. Detour restaurant, all much better food and very convenient

During the last AFL season they were serving Carlton beer @ $8.40 for a schooner, both mid strength and full strength. This season they have changed to XXXX, I'm not sure of the pricing yet, but it should be about the same. You will pay about $12 for a burger, no cheeseburgers.

Any tips on where to sit to avoid the afternoon sun in my eyes

The Main Street side grandstands are protected from the afternoon sun. Sections 67 - 78 & 40 to 44 are most protected. On lower tier 27 - 37 should be ok, 38/39 and 1 - 5. The worst sections are on Wellington Road side of ground such as areas 12 - 24 and 52 - 61 approximate areas. I hope this helps.
