They have changed the road access to the Summit Lookout, which provides for some extra parking, yet still not enough parking for the level of attraction.

If you find a place, you are rewarded with some great views and colourful trees, worth venturing up to.

Looking for a beautiful spot to see the sights of Brisbane, go no further than Mount Coot-tha where you get to see a panoramic view overlooking the city. You can also enjoy a meal or a coffee/ice cream whilst up there.

New Simpsons Road link
Dec. 2019 • Family
The new Simpsons Road link allows easy and now safe access to the Ithaca Creek Bike way.
Which is very picturesque at this the starting point of its pathway.

Mount Coot-tha Forest Park
Jul. 2019 • Friends
We started from Gordon Road (?) Bardon. Park signs direct you to a variety of walks. The climb is moderate on a well formed path. A steady climb before the path winds along and meets the Simpson Creek falls track. Very peaceful open forest area. You arrive at the top of the falls. No real water flow at this time of year. Just a trickle but the rock pools were full of water. A safe bridge crossing and viewing platform over the falls. We returned on the track following the creek and arrived at the well maintained picnic area. We will return to do some of the other tracks and drive to the Simpson Creek picnic area to start. Plenty of parking.

I hadn’t been up to Mt Coot-tha since I left Brisbane almost 4 years ago and had forgotten how sexy the views back to the city were. Very nice and I can see why they wanted to put a zip line here (how fun would that be?). It’s also such a short drive from the city you can be up, take in the panorama, have a coffee, and be back home/to your hotel in under 2 hours.

Travellers take note - you pass the Brisbane Botanical Gardens and Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium on the way so it’s a perfect recipe for a day trip with Mt Coot-tha. You could even do the Mt Coot-tha Summit Track if your feeling like some huffy puffy (it’s a fairly short and easy walk).

A must if in Brisbane, recommend to be there at sun set. One tree Hill was the old name of this place.

This is popular historic place and popular even among locals. You see so much more than the complete city of Brisbane. A nice restaurant is located next to this view point.

Nice view and Cool air
Dec. 2018 • Solo
I been there at evening, the view is great and the air is still cold albeit there's hot sun. For those who take 470 bus, kindly be reminded that their last service pick up from the top of Mt Coot-tha is at 4.15pm. If you missed that time, you can either ask for share car, walk down (30 minutes walk) or look for Uber.

Come at sunset - amazing Brisbane view
Sep. 2018 • Couples
Beautiful lookout near the summit of the mountain where you can see a spectacular view of Brisbane.

We've visited here a few times on different occasions. In my opinion, Brisbane looks beautiful no matter on the weather. Even when we came on a stormy afternoon, Brisbane looked so beautiful amongst the grey clouds.

The best is when we came on sunset as we got a beautiful photo of ourselves with the pink skyline and bustling city lights beginning to shine in all their colours.

I recommend to park at the JC waterfalls car park and do a walk up to the lookout on the mahogany trail. It takes about 40 minutes to an hour depending on your fitness levels. It's really fun and we did it as a date which was really romantic! You can reward yourselves with a drink or dinner at the cafe or restaurant at the lookout and enjoy the views for a while before heading back down on the summit track, (it's so fast to get back down compared to walking up!).

There are also botanical gardens which may be worth a visit if you're into that, located at the bottom of the mountain.
