Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We drove up to the top of Mount Coot-tha last week in the middle of the work week so there was very few people there. There was one bus group that came and went very quickly. The main restaurant is closed because it was a Covid casualty or maybe a remodel, but it didn’t look like they were doing any remodeling. There is another small café that has mostly some snack food and great views overlooking the city of Brisbane. As we drove up one side of the mountain and down the other, it’s very dry and not really a lot to see I would suggest taking a drive up, just to see the views of the city perhaps maybe at Sunset.
Make sure you stop at the botanical garden on the way up to the summit. Here you could spend a couple of hours easily, and there are a lot of trails. Depending on your interest and timing, you could probably spend the majority of a day here looking at the different types of gardens and the exotic local Australian birdlife.

I parked at Silky Oak day use area & did the 5,9km return walk to channel 9 studios via the Powerful Owl trail. It’s a moderate walk with the first 1km being the hardest where you do a sustained steep uphill section that gets the heart pumping & legs burning. After that it’s fairly easy as you make your way along the open forested track to Ch 9. There are several offshoot tracks on the way for people who want an extra long hike & make a bigger day of it. I really enjoyed the walk & only found out on the day that Powerful Owl leads to the Channel 9 studios & enjoyed seeing the large billboard & transmission tower on Sir Samuel Griffith Drive.

Although we did see trials and we did see buses, we took the easy option and got an uber to the top of Cootha to get the panoramic views of the city.
There is a busy eatery there and some small stalls. The car park is quite small. There is a level concrete viewing platform and you get great snaps.
Make sure to go to the Botanic Gardens too if you visit Cootha, they are really beautiful.

We used public transport to and from Brisbane CBD which was very easy.
The views were truly amazing
The viewing platforms made taking photos of the many views to be very easy, especially panoramic vistas
It did get crowded on occasions when tourist disembarked from the many tour buses that stopped there. Luckily, there was a quick turnaround as they seemed to be back on buses within 15 minutes

A great place to get an idea of the layout of Brisbane. It is a fairly quick and easy drive from the Brisbane CBD. There's a tea house, but it was busy the day we were there. The parking area isn't huge, but you can park on adjacent roads. The information boards provided a lot of interesting points.
We also did one of the busy walks nearby which had wide-formed unsealed paths. There were a lot of mountain bikers in the area, but they were considerate. It was interesting to drive a bit further past the parking area because there were impressive views.

Walked the trail to arrive at the summit to be greeted by a beautifully kept terrace small cafe and shop. There was an excellent selection of cakes, croissants and a small but select menu.
The staff were extremely helpful and the whole place was immaculate.

Visited on Tuesday 15th November. There is more to Mt Coot-tha than just the lookout. We worth doing the circular drive to get some amazing views and then stop and check out some of the walking tracks. If you have time visit the Botanical Gardens as well. You could easily spend the day here.

Mount Coot-tha Lookout & Kiosk is a heritage-listed lookout at Sir Samuel Griffith Drive, Mount Coot-tha, City of Brisbane . It was built from 1918 to 1950. It is also known as One-Tree-Hill. A popular site for tourists and locals alike to view the vista of Brisbane and surrounding districts... a MUST see especially at night...

They have changed the road access to the Summit Lookout, which provides for some extra parking, yet still not enough parking for the level of attraction.
If you find a place, you are rewarded with some great views and colourful trees, worth venturing up to.

The new Simpsons Road link allows easy and now safe access to the Ithaca Creek Bike way.

Hi, what is the best way to get to mt coot-tha from the CBD? I looked at the brisbane buses but it looks like they don't go all the way up there? any help would be great thanks

Hey guys, you all should be more specifically on the bus stop station. I has followed the instruction to William Terrace but it has failed me. I used more than an hour to find the bus stop station! So here's the exactly bus stop I'll provide to ease anyone who want to go to Mount Coot-tha in future! The bus stop station name is "Cathedral Adelaide Street Stop 34", and it is right in front of the "Brisbane Visa and Citizenship office, department of Home Affairs" (type it in Google map and you'll get it). Then you wait for bus 471 (waiting time every 60 minutes, start from 7.30am).
Remark: For those who would like to give answer to a question, please be more specific, it will help people a lot in the future! If not, better DON'T answer it.
