About
Professional Dive Services was established by PADI Course Director John Gransbury in July 2010. John recognised a need for a mobile dive company that allows divers to access dive sites all over the Eastern seaboard of Australia and not just sites in the local Brisbane area. The ethos of Professional Dive Services is providing personalised unparalleled diver training, the flexibility to cater to each individual diver’s needs and above all to have FUN!! Professional Dive Services can help you with all of your training from Open Water to Instructor. We also specialise in organising custom trips for families, groups and celebrations. By not having our own boat we are free to roam, take advantage of the huge array of dive sites available on the East coast, the most experienced operators, most comfortable boats, all whilst ensuring that you have an experience that will last you a lifetime.Come diving with us and and let John put the FUN back into your diving!

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I recently completed my Open Water Dive Certification with John. He came recommended from a friend and I would not go anywhere else. His knowledge, skill and teaching methods made me feel very confident to dive and I will be heading back for my advanced certification.

Did my Open Water with John. He was very accommodating and continued with the course despite it being just me. Thanks heaps!! I was pretty anxious at times with diving and this was no problem for John who made me pretty confident despite some dodgy conditions and limited visibility. Can’t wait to get in the water again now and also do some further training with John.

Being able to not worry about driving after a couple of shore dives is fantastic. The fact John offers to pick you up and take to the dive site is excellent.

John’s ability to impart dive knowledge is first rate and would recommend anyone looking at doing a dive course/a to do them with John.

Went for a shore dive with John. He provided pick up and drop off to/from my home. John was very knowledgeable about the site and its marine inhabitants. Had heaps of fun and felt very safe with such an experienced diver. It's a great little muck diving site too, heaps of cool critters. Highly recommend.

Had a fantastic time with John and Professional Dive Services.

Being driven to and from the dive site is a fantastic service as we all know how tiring you get after a big day of diving!

I have been on a number of trips with John and the group of people in the are fantastic, confident divers (as most have been taught by John) and above all... great people so you will also come away with great dive buddies!

As a dive instructor, I would highly recommend that you join John at Professional Dive Services if you are looking for a fun, safe, dive trip or if you are looking to learn how to dive or develop your skills.... John is your man!!

Having trained and dived with John several times over the past few years, this month's trip was no different. As always the service was outstanding, with John on.time and everything good to go. Johns knowledge, skills, organisation, industry connections and humour make for a hassle free, pleasurable and memorable day. If you're looking for a remarkable dive experience, I can't recommend John and Professional Dive Services highly enough.

Our trip to the Yongala was fantastic. That is thanks to John who had the whole trip organized and who adapted to our unplanned flight delays. John also knew exactly how to get everyone at ease and knows how to manage a group of divers, taking account of each diver's experience, while keeping the whole trip really relaxed. Will definitely book another trip with John again!

I did the ice and altitude course with John in 2019. 3 things for prospective students to note :
1. John is dismal at responding to emails. Pre-course, Post-course, dismal.
2. The website says "you will also do your altitude course on a piece of Australian history as we dive Old Jindabyne town in Lake Jindabyne! This is unique in itself as it is one of only a handful of towns in the world where you can dive". In reality this is done as a shore dive next to the Bowling club. Other expeditions to dive "the township proper" are done via boat.
3. The website shows a triangular hole cut into the ice. This will not be your experience. You enter from the shore and crunch a hole in the thin ice as you walk into 3 Mile Dam (if the ice is present at all)

G'Day Bill, I was expecting this. 1. I will be the first to admit that of late I have been time deficient and struggle to respond to every inquiry quickly and often have to prioritise which emails I respond to. As I always sign off my emails "if you have any further questions please don't hesitate to contact me on 0457007040." I recognise that I can be slow to respond to emails which is why I encourage people to call me with their questions instead. 2. Old Jindabyne town is only remnants. It is not as if it were flooded yesterday and it was comprised of reinforced concrete and is standing exactly as it were before it was flooded. We are searching for it via shore yes. There is only one boat option we could use to dive from and it is hideously expensive particularly given we are restricted to a group of 4 based on course standards. 3. I never stated that we would be cutting a hole in to the ice at any stage. The photo was used as it was indicative of ice diving but I can see how you would think this was misleading and has been replaced with a photo of me from the last course. The course is the only one of it's kind in the Southern hemisphere and one of the few scheduled in the world. Whilst the cost may seem high it is predominantly taken up by accommodation costs where rooms rates are at a premium during the ski season. To meet your expectations I would need to charge at least double what I do and would struggle to find students willing to pay it. Again I apologise for the delay in responding to your emails but if anyone has an urgent question they are always welcome to call me on my mobile.

John provided my wife & I with our Ice Diving Course in the NSW Snowy Mountains. The lectures and class room work was clear, very well explained & John kept the atmosphere fun. The in water work was conducted in Lake Jindabyne & in the Kosciuszko National Park.
This Ice Diving Course was the ground work for our Iceland & Greenland Dive holiday diving Silfra and the icebergs above 66 degrees North.
We could not have had this amazing, trouble free holiday without John's excellent instruction and practical advice. We highly recommend John as an instructor/guide to any diver.
