Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We went to The Beat Mega Club on a busy Saturday night and had to queue for q short amount of time.
Upon reaching the front of the queue we were greeted by a member of door staff who asked for our ID.
The club catered for most musical tastes, by having numerous rooms all playing different music.
We had a really good night here.

This place has the potential to be awesome. Don't be put off by the fact that some people indicate that this is a gay club - it's not. It is basically a huge techno club that lots of LGBT people tend to frequent simply because that is there scene. If you like electronic music and you're in Brisbane then this is the place to be, especially on the weekends. They have a multitude of bars and a decent outdoor area as well. However, and this is the big thing in my book, you have to be aware of the security. I came here on a Wednesday and they were pretty much as bad as you would expect from a normal club on a weekend. I would hate to think of what they would be like on a weekend. I have noticed that a number of reviews have commented on the fact that the bouncer's a terrible, and the fact that when I went there they were still pretty bad, indicates that they pretty much ignore the internet - obviously to their peril. As I have said, a fantastic nightclub, but their security makes me take off two stars.

Really looked forward to going back to The Beat after having been a frequent patron in my early twenties (about 18 years ago). Used to love the dance/techno music and have always been an avid fan so booked a nearby hotel so we could come back for a weekend and get into the dance/electronica scene once again.
OMG. Not sure what is going on in this place. It used to be a gay bar (with its sister club in Surfers Paradise) and had live shows plus many rooms and hard core dance tracks. I was unsure if it was a straight nightclub nowadays as there seemed to be a lot of heterosexual couples and teenagers there. Very friendly staff and a really good vibe throughout the place – extremely friendly punters, just as I remember it. Free before 10.30 and $10 each afterwards – pass outs until 3am and closes at 5am.
I looove champagne (or just sparkling wine) so was devastated that the ONLY bubbles on offer was Trevi – cheap and nasty sweet spumante. And at nearly $8 a (half) glass, I did try and stomach it, but it was too much. Threw it away and had to switch to spirits. In a big club like that, there should be more choice. Not everyone likes premixed lolly water and beer.
Bouncers are fairly nice but a bit creepy. Some would stand above the main room smoking area and stare down at people, talking about them and laughing or just staring. Pretty weird. Packed out areas in all smoking spots.
The Main Room was a major disappointment. We were so excited to hear some great dance beats but soon realised the two DJs had no clue what they were doing. Terrible mixing – going from full bassy beats straight into some vague Craig David or Tracy Chapman before jumping back into another weird (and slow) mix. A few old school ravers were there on the second night we went and even they were getting fed up with the DJ and his lack of mixing skills. No rise and fall – and very little variety. I think the same beats/backing track was played a zillion times on repeat. Such a let down when the place calls itself the ‘cornerstone of clublife’ and a ‘dance venue’. Terrible teeny bopper stuff of which the likes of Nik Fish, Carl Cox and Pee Wee Ferris would vomit on. The DJs even had two turntables which they never touched (or pretended to touch) as they swapped CDs. Extremely lazy DJ’ing and obviously appealed to the straight laced uni student tools who danced to it like it was really crazy awesome! Sad that the patrons seem largely uneducated on the music scene.
A major disappointment but still a venue with great vibes. Definitely not the hard core, cutting edge techno/dance joint it once was. Get new DJs – that use vinyl, or at least know how to mix and what to play. Keep the Top 40 for the kiddies rooms.

Horrible experience from the entry and rude security to a lady at the front desk that just sat there all grumpy, Had to approach 2 times to say hello we want to pay we honest enough to pay and not just avoid her lack of hospitality. When entered it was still early and quiet , yet lord Like issue for barmen to serve us also rude way in mannerisms. Zero etiquette and once a gain lack of hospitality, clearly unhappy to work in that industry. Staff let this establishment really down , they should visit other clubs especially abroad to learn what service and hospitality is and basic human touch. We were told by a staff member male we aren’t allowed to take drinks near the dance floor yet locals were seen drinking their drinks directly on the dance floor being disruptive and spilling all over yet Never were approached. Toilets were in a horrible state so early in the night already full of vomit and no soaps in the dispensers , not even tissue papers. To sum it up never recommend this club to anyone. Far better out there .

I had a bounce steal my necklace right off my neck then he tried to stir me up in view of a camera so I would hit him. Low life scum bags. Stay as far away from the place as possible.

I’m under no illusions that the proprietors of The Beat Mega Club will take the slightest notice of anything posted about their fine establishment on Trip Advisor.
The Beat is Brisbane’s oldest and seediest gay club. It is a den of inequity, and you’ll never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. The Beat features a number of different, poorly lit dance spaces, each offering a unique character, odour, and style of music. Each space comes equipped with a potentially noxious smoke machine, and a full bar staffed by a shirtless and dead-eyed barkeep who looks traumatised into a fugue state by all he has seen.
Happy hour starts at 10, and be sure to get in before cover starts at 10:30.
In sum, if your night goes very very awry, you will likely find yourself at the Beat. But we queers love it. Shame about the str8z who apparently discovered it about 5 yrs ago and in their own unique way, tend to ruin everything. If you see straight women on a hen’s night, RUN! You do not need to be polite to straight white women on a hen’s night who feel entitled to invade our space with their straight privilege.

This is a truly awful place. A multiplex for bars. A series of tired, smelly characterless bars and mini-clubs, with awful music, overworked staff, bad smells, dull crowd. Like a country RSL club on a Friday night. Same kind of crowd as well. Which is really strange because this place once had real edge and therefore charm and appeal when it was vaguely gay. Now, it is not even gay-acting, and it is really just out of place and deeply uncool in plonked down in the middle of the Valley, like a an old teacher trying to be cool dancing at a blue light disco. Not worth the trip at all.
