About
Brisbane Arts Theatre is an iconic, self-funded performing arts community. Our members produce engrossing, high quality, accessible theatre. We educate emerging Brisbane artists and future industry professionals. Our people inspire our fun, creative and innovative culture. We're Brisbane's home of the performing arts. The theatre company produces two complementary seasons every year: a diverse mainhouse season, with performances Thursday through Saturday in the evenings, and the iconic children's theatre, with performances at weekends and during school holidays. The theatre company owns the performance complex on Petrie Terrace and is responsible for both artistic and operational management. The Arts Theatre is one of Brisbane's longest running theatre companies, inviting members to be directly involved in all facets of theatre.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We have seen a number of very good shows here. Parking is quite easy in the basement.

We have watched various plays at Brisbane Arts Theatre over the years (mainly funny and creative spin offs). Some of their best we've watched includes: Shakespeare Abridged, Jurassic Park: The Musical, 50 Shades of Grey: The Musical and so on.

For the price you pay, you get wonderful entertainment from aspiring and talented performers. It is all done so tastefully. It is always a delight.

The seats aren't as comfortable as I would like them to be, but that's no bother when you get to watch such creativity for only 30 something odd dollars.

If you don't live in the area, I would suggest arriving a bit earlier to find parking - as secured parking isn't offered. Or catching a bus to Normanby station and walking the distance to the theatre.

If you're planning on taking someone here on a date, there is also a lovely Tibetan restaurant right next door; should you decide to have dinner beforehand.

This is an amateur theatre which provides wonderful theatre opportunities. We saw two productions during our stay. The theatre is small but does its job In providing a good performance space.

Oh dear! The worst ever show to make the stage in BrisVegas ... The History of Comedy (abridged) at the Petrie Tce Brisbane Arts Theatre.Three puerile boys who did not pass high school drama try out some tired old techniques and play with the in-house tv screens to present a show about comedy without actually getting a laugh.
The joke really is on the patrons who pay $34 for the unprivilege.

We've attended many productions at BAT as both audience and participants and recommend it highly as a genuinely family friendly outing. The theatre itself is a step into a bygone era, and has a dreamy courtyard that offers cast signings for Childrens Theatre after each show. This makes it a perfect birthday party venue with a difference. Their production of Avenue Q was as good as live theatre we've been to both here and overseas. Go for sure. You won't regret it! Long live Brisbane Arts Theatre!

We went to see "Pokemon Live" the Musical. What a great show with a fantastic cast! First time I've been to the Brisbane Arts Theatre. Such a quaint old theatre and quite intimate. With comfy padded old chairs and raised seating so you can see wherever you sit. Most definitely worth a visit.

We went to see 'Avenue Q' at the theatre. They put on a very good production. The theatre is quite small, old and quaint. The interior looks quite old, but that is part of its charm. Definitely worth a visit. The Tibetan Kitchen next door is good for a pre-show dinner.

This is a very small theatre just up the road from Paddington, there's great 4 hour parking meters out the front. It's a very old building but the seats inside are very comfortable, like old armchairs and due to it's size it wouldn't matter where you sat you would get a great view, it's very intimate and definitely worth going to, we saw a children's show which the kids loved, haven't seen anything else there. Toilets are clean, they have ice creams etc on sale. They could do with a few more chairs in the entry area and a bit of TLC with the garden but given that they are probably run by volunteers perhaps this is a little harsh. Ticket prices very reasonable.
