    Awesome public space
A great public area along the riverbank. Heaps of restaurants/bars to choose from, lovely grassed areas and if you have young kids the water activity and swimming areas are fantastic. The Wheel of Brisbane is at one end providing great views of the city

Perfect for relaxing in the heart of the city
What a great space in the heart of Brisbane. Plenty of open space for families to gather with children. Loads of eating options from cafe style, to pub style to takeaway. Huge pool area for cooling down with toilets and change areas and right by the river with a boardwalk for walking. Such an asset to the city.

    Friday Markets
These pop up markets have something for everyone, no matter what your taste or budget. They have scents of every kind, fudge, food trucks, jewellery and so many other things. Most are made by the stall holders and are ethically made. It is easy to find items for vegan philosophy. A nice way to enjoy a few hours on the weekend. Friday night markets!! 😁

    Great for a stroll
Great walk down the south bank and parklands. Plenty of shade and seating areas , lots of cafes and restaurants. We took a river cruise which let us see the sights . Free museum along the way and we walked around to the botanical gardens too . Ensure you wear good walking shoes

    Wonderful area in Brisbane
Great place to spend a few hours or a day. The beach and pool are both amazing and was amazing at sunset. There are plenty of places to find something to eat and drink and we found the souvenir shop to be fairly priced. We found all ages enjoying this area, bonus is near transit exchange and ferry dock. Definitely worth visiting this area.

    A must if in Brisbane
One of the best things in Brisbane. The view of the river and its nearby buildings are so clear. Right next to the Griffith University city campus, the ride takes you 4 spins with a short stop whilst you are at the top. The cabins are all air conditioned so very cool ride. It was slightly windy given the autumn winds but the sway was acceptable. You can hit an emergency button in every cabin if you feel uncomfortable so very assuring. You can bring drinks into the cabin however the nearest toilets are quite a walk away. Ride takes about 12 minutes so really quick. Booking online can come with good discounts. Walk in is about AUD21 per person.

    Fabulous Place to Visit
We were waiting for our son and family to arrive before going for lunch at one of the many really nice restaurants in the area, and decided to go for a walk. What an inviting place to visit with so much to do. The waters edge walk is beautiful. The kids were having so much fun in the playground and splash pool area. The beach is also great and is patrolled. We lived the gardens and the big shade trees as well as the snaking walk way covered in flowering Boganville. We were there when the markets were in which added to the carnival atmosphere.

A "Must Not Miss" day AND night in BrisbaNE
The South Bank parklands are an extraordinary feat of cultural development for Brisbane, running from the excellent Queensland Museum along the river course. It includes the Brisbane wheel and scores of resteraunts and drinking establishments. Night or day, it's an experience. Parents of young ones don't be afraid to pack a bag with a swimsuit and towel. There's a kid friendly night/day beach and pool. Lovely greenery, lots of views, world-class dining. Check out attractions along the way, like the museum. A whole day on this side of the river sampling breakfast, lunch and dinner aren't wasted. On the Queen Street side? It's literally a ten minute walk across the bridge. Don't be afraid of the distance, and the bridge views are worth it.

South Bank park a must see
great place to walk and enjoy what's on offer here, there is a great series of pools one has sand, other is a regular pool and there is a stream for kids to play in.Aattendants on duty too. Changing rooms and plenty of atmosphere around the pool, it was very busy but people were coming and going. The walkway is from the evnts-centre and finishes around the maritime museum with lots of lovely plantings and sitting areas. Behind the park was lots of cafes and shops (shops mainly closed on the Sunday we went) also a small market tucked in there. We picked up the small KItty Cat ferry and had a free ride down river and back, you can get on and off as you like this is a regular commuter ferry, there is a paid one too which is bigger and faster. Currently the ferry stop at the city side is out of action so we got on at South Bank This is a must area to visit when in Brisbane

    A fun place for everyone.
AMAZING place for everyone - families, teens, oldies like me etc. The general behaviour of everyone was outstanding - nothing anti social at all. Great eateries around the 'beach'. Lovely safe swimming.

Stunning foreshore area in the heart of Brisbane. This area is over 30 years old but it is truly a beautiful place filled with so many places to visit from vegetarian gardens, a beach and pools, bars and cafes, stunning gardens, markets, cultural and exhibition centres and walkways. Takes about 20 minutes to walk the length but you'll be stopping so frequently so you could easily spend hours here. It's clean, peaceful and amazing to visit right in the heart of the city.

We walked to the area from the W Hotel and wandered through the area, the beach, rain forest, rode the wheel and saw the Brisbane sign.

There are bats in the trees by the sign so be careful. My wife got bat pooped on while walking under the trees.

We walked around the area both in the daytime and at night.

We spent quite a bit of time in or near Southbank while staying in Brisbane. The fanzone was there for the Women's World Cyp so there was a bit of a buzz anyway.
Even without that, it's a lovely area, nice greery, the riverfront views and lots of good bars and restaurants all along. It's dominated by the bug ferris wheel, so you can miss it. Loads of museums and galleries run alongside too, and it's a stop on the metro.

Either just go for a walk or enjoy one or more of the activities on offer. Many buskers put on a great performance. There are plenty of places to stop for a drink or a meal. Pretty garden areas offer different sights and places to enjoy.

This is such a fantastic riverside area! We enjoyed walking along and seeing all the plants. There is a neat natural pool, a food garden, tropical forest, places to eat, etc.
We often go to waterside areas along a similar vein to this one around the world and this one is amazing. Truely unique and very well done!
