SparkLab is small but fun place to visit if you have children between 4-12 years old. It is about a half of the price of Questacon in Canberra ($11.50/ person for a family of 4) but it is about a quarter of the size of it, too. It is a small exhibition so you can take your time and enjoy each section.

It's advertised as 6yrs+ but I took my 3.5yr old and he loved it. Of course there were some things he didn't understand but would recommend for little ones as well. We went last Tues, lucky we got into the first morn session coz the next 3 sessions were booked out by school groups, so maybe worth booking online if you can. Three small spaces but kept us entertained for over an hour.

Me and my cousin went to the Sciencentre and we had a blast! Kids and adults have a great time exploring different aspects of science. It makes science so fun...I recommend it to anyone

The science centre I grew up with is long gone, there used to be 3 or 4 floors worth of hands on exhibits to try out, now there is half a floor of broken exhibits. It cost us almost $70 to get in, for about an hours worth of entertainment. There were wild children everyone pushing in front of people and knocking over our younger children. I would not recommend coming back here unless you go on a quiet day and you have children between the ages of 5 and 12. Not suitable for adults of kids under 5.

Visited the Sciencentre today after 2 years away. A combination of rainy weather driving people indoors and a lack of staff on the ticket desk meant - a very long wait to get in. When the supervisor was confronted about the lack of staff her response was: why don't you get an annual pass and then you'll avoid the lines!
So using her logic, pay more than double the daily entry fee to visit once - and you can stroll right in.
The woman they had on the ticket desk was a nightmare. Every family queuing up at her desk (which was the only 1 of 3 selling tickets to the Sciencentre) had to endure one-fingered typing into the Eftpos machine, 2 or 3 swipes of their card and some very bad patter. We timed her. In 12 minutes she processed just one party!! Quite unbelievable.
The exhibits inside were OK, but getting a bit tired. At least 2 that we saw had bits missing or broken off which meant our children couldn't try them out.
The temporary Whodunnit exhibition was interesting and thought-provoking. But having to wait 45 mins to get in (with only 7 families or couples in front of us) was excessive.
We will not be returning. A very ordinary experience.

whatsoever. And in these two economic times, the Sciencentre would do well to remember that if they want us to spend our hard-earned money in the place,

This Science museum is a nice place visit with family. We saw the Space Exhibition and this exhibition was pretty good. Although it is not as interactive or big as Questacon (in Canberra) it is worth a visit. Would go again to see different exhibitions...

if you haven't been, it is worth the trip at least once. there are some good things to see and do here, and it isn't very expensive. The exhibits are getting tired though and it could benefit from a freshen up.

The Sciencentre is in the Southbank Cultural Precinct right in the heart of Brisbane. It is a powerhouse of scientific experiments, ideas, information, theories, and facts from prehistoric and beyond~ presented in a way that kids and adults alike, will understand and appreciate. It has various presentations, exhibitions and shows ~some are free to view, some are ticketed. All exhibits and displays are well formatted and laid out. Requires lots of walking. Facilities are clean and well maintained. It is a great way to spend the day, either be it hot or soggy. You'll get to enjoy the view of the Brisbane skyline, cityscape, Brisbane River and Southbank. Must see while in Brisbane.

great place for children of all ages ... interactive exhibits and a lot of interesting sights... there is a wonderful sense of excitement for science lovers young and old... when we were there, there was many school tour groups but this only improved the experience as there was a hum of excitement with each display they viewed...
