- Sherlock29Brisbane, Australia31 contributionsGreat seats - great experienceWent to see Chicago - seats were still very good even though they were the cheapest ones. Wine service at interval was really quick and efficient. Service before the show was a little disorganised. Thanks so much for your review. We hope to see you again soon. Kind regards. - Pearl D2 contributionsWOW what a show.......Went to see the production of Beauty and the Beast. What a brilliant show it was, we had pretty good seats 5 rows from the stage, the rest of the auditoria was just as good seats wise. The story was a near to the film version as made no difference, the choreography, music, cast, lighting and especially the special effects made the most spectacular impression. I adored the character 'chip', how that effect was acheived is a masterful mystery, the transformation of both the old beggar lady and the Beast in the opening act was amazing. Gaston was magnificent in his portrayal of a narcissistic bully, Lumiere was a shining ('scuse the pun) star in the entourage, Belle, Mrs Potts, Beast, Le Foye, Cogsworth, Babette, Maurice all played fantastically magical roles. So very glad to have seen this cast in this theatre, thank you all.Thank you so much for your review and we are so glad that you enjoyed the performance and your visit to QPAC. I came to QPAC to see Moulin Rouge in the Lyric Theatre. It was an amazing, spectacular show.
Getting to QPAC wasn’t too hard but bare in mind that there are roadworks going in so factor in about how you are getting here if you’re gonna see a show.
The prices for food and drink is standard at $6 a glass. Cheaper to bring your own!
The seats were comfortable but I do wish there was more room between the seats and the seats in front so you don’t constantly have to stand up every time someone wants to get by.

QPAC run theatre tours in a Friday morning. This was really informative and gave an insight into all the logistics and organising that goes in behind the scenes of a performance. The ticket price of $16 includes a free drink in the cafe afterwards. Great value. Highly recommended.

On a rainy summer Saturday night we went to opening night of David Williamson's play Emerald City, a collaboration between Queensland Theatre and Melbourne Theatre Companies. Set in Sydney, and written in 1980s, the script is still relevant, certainly not old hat and outdated. Extra bonus to see David Williamson and his partner present at the performance. Most enjoyable play, sharp dialogue.

We attended from interstate what was meant to be a first time, memorable performance in the Concert Hall only to be confronted in our seats by a constant blast of freezing cold air. An absolutely ruined experience for many patrons who were unable to concentrate on the music because of the severe cold. Never again.

Past its used by date.
So disappointing. The much used QPAC is clearly in need of a makeover. Shabby, mismatched carpets, chipped paint work and toilet facilities clearly in need of an update.
The aforementioned together with trip hazards (Door 15 Balcony 1) and broken and or damaged seating (Seat 3 Row B - Balcony 1) clearly detract from the QPAC experience. The rundown condition of the building appears to have had a detrimental effect on staff as well. Some staff appear to have adopted a reverse entitlement attitude giving the impression that they are doing you a favour by simply doing their job.
My overall experience was most disappointing.

We travelled to see Tina Turner the Musical. Stunning show. 11/10. Well worth the trip. Beautiful theatre.
Down side was why is it so cold in the theatre when the show starts? We were in the stalls about 12 rows from the front. Brilliant seats but we felt the cold air blowing down on us the whole show. Everyone around us were putting jackets etc on as it was so uncomfortable. I actually went back to the hotel for a hot shower and ended up on sick leave for a week after arriving home. Sorry but I won't be going back to the theatre if this is the norm for all shows.

Quite an underwhelming experience.I attended in Toowoomba. The dancers give it their best and there are some lovely aspects such as the colours and music, but nothing about it was outstanding. Very Buddhist centred and at times a bit far fetched with their storyline’s which are sporadic and a bit random. I was really disappointed after watching great reviews and feeling that it didn’t come close to living up to them. Each dance is a short 5-10min piece and none are connected to eachother. Some have no core or apparent relevance, just new costumes and music. Again, they pour their hearts and souls into their dancing which is great, but unfortunately the performance itself is very average. I wouldn’t watch it or attended another Shen Yun event.

I went to the Opera last Thursday night. At interval, I wanted to get a bottle of water. I tried the vending machine several times and I found it difficult to use. A few days later I checked my credit card statement and yes I was charged $16.80 for one bottle of water. Yes, next time I will go to bar. Others watch out!!!

A friend and I came to see Dame Edna here at the Concert Hall in October 2019. It’s a fabulous venue for touring shows that don’t require the largest space at QPAC (the Lyric Theatre, which houses the big musicals). That said, it seats up to 1800 patrons.
The space is used for a variety of events from piano concerts to dance and stand up comedy not to mention Moonee Ponds’ most famous Dame. For example, the last time I was here was up on stage for my QUT university graduation ceremony.
The most striking and unique feature is the Klais Grand Organ, which sits above the stage and includes 6,500 pipes.

Probably prefer the smaller Cremorne Theatre than the Lyric Theatre; loved Book of Mormons although I had seen it in New York. It's a more modern and comfortable theatre than where I normally go in Broadway but it lacks a little emotional appeal.
The seats are well laid out so you not looking at the head of the person in front of you but the audio is a constant problem.
Cast of Mormons was first class as was the team guiding people to the theatre, excellent team.

How far in advance can I book a table at Lyrebird Restaurant? Thank you.
Written 19 January 2023
We are planning to come to The Ring (4 operas) in November/December 2020 from Seattle and the seats are actually CHEAPER in the 2nd balcony than the third and I can't figure that out. Usually farther away is cheaper. I'm most interested in the acoustics. Any suggestions?
Written 4 July 2019
Balcony 2 is the cheaper option. The acoustics are great, pretty much wherever you sit.

What time should I book a pre theatre dinner before a 7.30pm weekday performance at Qpac?
Written 14 February 2017
Thank you for your enquiry. We suggest making a reservation at the Lyrebird Restaurant for 6:00pm at the latest, for a 7:30pm performance.
We hope you enjoy your visit to QPAC.
