Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Having heard that West End is Brisbane's artsy place I went in with no expectations and wanted to see how the atmosphere is around. It is definitely a community of like-minded people that are all in their 20s and are enjoying their lives whilst also doing creative things. Definitely not a good place to live for a long time because of all the noise, but has plenty of bars, parks, restaurants, and clothing shops to offer. A must visit place in Brisbane

Very interesting area to wander around, particularly the garden area outside the Harrison Farm store. Includes a number of good-looking restaurants and bars. We visited a number of times while staying on the South Bank and it was always buzzy with lots of cheery people about.

You can walk 300 meters and find so many different types of restaurant and atmospheres a very social place.
The Friday night street food vendors just add to the area and choices for the whole family.
Saturday morning and the place is alive with breakfast choices.

West End has anything and everything when it comes to dining.
Almost every cuisine imaginable.
There is even a pizza place where you can give 24 hours notice and challenge their 36 slice pizza for a wall of fame/shame spot.
Melbourne St off The Cultural Centre & Boundary St are choc a block full or restaurant and eats.
Other places further on has the West End Markets on the weekends and Vegan Markets.
There is also plenty of Gelato joints around the place.
Easy to get around using the 199 and 60 buses.

Typical Tourist trap. Arrived, no one to greet, fill out form for ordering, very slow service to the point of being ignored, overcooked food and unhealthy handling of eating utensils. I caught the staff handling chopsticks and spoons by the eating end. Very expensive for what you receive 15 percent surcharge. I had better food and service at a local cafe.

Great little suburb, wish we had had more time to explore. Some nice cafes for breakfast. Would be a good place to stay. Number 60 bus went straight into the city. Not far from Southbank

Our first visit to West End on my birthday 25/01/22 & loved the area of Peter's lane shopping centre, West End. Plenty of shops to stroll around & the landscape around the complex extremely well maintained. Also very close to public transport, also
close to cafe's & restaurants.

Full of homeless people, drunken aboriginals, cockroaches, rats, mice, flying rats (pigeons) and hippies.
Dirty place with dilapidated shop fronts.
Needs to be completely renovated.

West End (together with Fortitude Valley) is Brisbane's last bastion of what might be tactfully termed bohemian/left bank/grunge personified/colorful. It's all of these things and more, though reasonably safe street-wise as the area - especially the main street - is usually very well patronized and the police keep an eye on things too. But if you are of more "delicate sensibilities" and can't face down-at-heel surroundings and people who may be "a bit worse for wear" and panhandling, then best not venture here until the eventual creep of gentrification renders it "nice". The huge draw-card is food. Within a one block stroll you'll find almost any cuisine you fancy. Greek, Italian, Chinese,Tex-Mex, Indian, Malaysian and Vietnamese, to name a few plus burgers and bean sprouts for the happy carnivores and veggos. There's any number of bars, coffee shops, gathering places and a couple of pubs as well...even a Latin dance studio if you fancy a Lambada lesson or two. Go another block or two west to Hardgrave Road and you'll find another street of Tibetan, Vietnamese, Greek, Thai and Turkish fare. In other directions within the West End area you'll encounter factory outlet shops and a great Saturday market with yet more food, fresh produce and the usual market stuff. So if you like your ambience a bit rough around the edges, don't mind "characters" on the street, love a wide selection of cuisine at cheap (imagine a fresh, genuine Indian meat and veg curry with rice for $8.50) to reasonable prices and a bit of street "buzz" then West End should float your boat. It's just across the river from the city heart and though you can bus it, you can actually make it a bit of an adventure walk as there are plenty of cafes, restaurants and the entire Southbank precinct along the way to sustain you en-route.

The West End of Brisbane is a fun and lively place to visit and has so much to do.
There is a great choice of restaurants, bars and cafes to choose from so very hard to make a choice.
