Queensland Museum is a located near the river in South Brisbane in the beautiful South Bank area. It was a no-cost, short but nice diversion on a very wet day. It is mainly a relatively small natural history science museum but it also contains a social history ANZAC Legacy Gallery and the science experience SparkLab and special exhibitions (the last two incur extra costs).

The natural history contains stuffed animals, rocks and minerals, which I am used to seeing elsewhere, but the most engaging section for me was the dinosaurs which is built around the fossilised dinosaur stampede footprints found in Queensland’s Lark Quarry and an AV display interpreting it above which is unique to this museum.

The ANZAC Legacy Gallery downstairs is an in depth social commentary on Queensland’s involvement in WWI. A centrepiece is a captured German Mephisto tank.

Unfortunately alot of levels and displays closed. Those that were open were very interesting and well presented. The animals that were taxidermy were absolutely brilliant and presented so realistic. Very clean and very welcoming staff.

After having been to many museums around the world and also many in New Zealand this museum did not have much to look at. What they had was nicely presented but very little history, especially indigenous, which was disappointing. For a large state with quite a bit of history there is so much more that could have been presented.

Closed on our arrival and open the last day of our holiday, was lucky to get a tour of the Museum in.
Free entry - Plenty to see and very informative.
Can travel and view everything at your own pace, sit back and learn.
Science section - Paid entry was also very informative.
Museum attendant at the Musical Pipes out gave us a very entertaining rendition of a few tunes he had learned. Was a great and loved it.

Visited Queensland Museum for the first time on Saturday 29/01/22 & my main reason for attending to see Brickman Wonders Of The World [Lego Models]. AUD $19.50 Booking the ticket online.
Very impressive displays & other areas of the museum interesting to view, you will need at least a few hours inside to view most displays & read so much info.

As a free entertainment offering, you can’t go past the museum. Being able to move around at your own pace in air conditioned comfort is a definite bonus in summer. The special offerings, such as the lego display, require both pre-booking and payment but I am sure it is worth it for those who are interested in these.

Always interested in visiting museums and the Queensland Museum certainly had many exhibits not previously sighted. Wonderful exhibits in the Anzac Legacy Gallery, Lost Creatures, Wild State and Discovery Centre galleries. The skeleton of 'Mutt" the herbivorous dinosaur, the fossilised tracks of the dinosaur stampede, wedge tailed eagles, mammals, reptiles, birds, relics and personal records from the wars, and so much more on display and all for free. We did not visit the Lego Exhibition.

We went to see the Brickman Lego exhibit. It was amazing! The exhibits were well spaced and covid precautions were evident. I like the information about each build too. My son really liked the areas where he could build something.

The other exhibits were good too.

An excellent museum with plenty of artworks to offer. Very tidy floors, security is everywhere, but they are so quiet that you don't notice their presence, and everyone was wearing their masks which maintained a level of safety and calmness around. Looks like the museum is at good hands with management always finding new installations to showcase!
