Very high standard of exhibits but geared to lower high school level. Still great

Usual Covid delays to get in and you need to book a slot on line. But so interesting. I never knew Australia had such a rich dinosaur history esp around Roma and Winton. And I didn’t realise how big the taipan snake was. Ver high standard of exhibits certainly world best practice. I really wanted a big more science but was happy with what we saw

Well Organised
Jan. 2021 • Family
We went to the museum in New Years Day and it was packed but everything flowed due to some excellent organisation.
The general museum entry is free and we looked at the great display of fauna of Queensland as well as fabulous dinosaur skeletons and information.
We really enjoyed the Sea Creatures of the Deep. Lots on display, great information and heaps of activities for the young ones. Our one year old granddaughter had a fabulous time.
What was amazing was the German WWI tank which had been captured by the Queensland Battalion who brought it all the way back to Australia as a trophy. It is the only tank which survived WWI. So rare.

Don't go during school holidays
Dec. 2020 • Solo
Crazy busy and loud with running and shouting children. I think it's a great place to take kids btw but if you are interested in the exhibitions come in the morning to avoid those school holiday crowds. It's free though and I like that. Also some of the exhibitions are very interesting and worth the time

We picked the wrong day to visit
Dec. 2020 • Couples
Morning. Monday. School holidays. Bad choice.
We lasted about 40 minutes.
We will certainly try again but the experience this morning was nothing short of chaotic.

Sea Monsters well worth a visit
Dec. 2020 • Family
The Sea Monsters Exhibition is excellent - interesting, informative and well curated. We visit the museum regularly and the free permanent exhibits are also very good.

Terrible First Time Experience
Nov. 2020
Booked July 2020 for 2 people for 1.00pm Sat 21 Nov 2020. Filled out appropriate Forms, printed out tickets in advance. All Ready to go. Online advice said to arrive 5 minutes before entry time, and no earlier. Arrived as per instruction all the way from Hervey Bay. Found 200 plus! people in a queue. Asked lady at entry if we could enter as per our booking, advising we had everything here completely filled out. She asked what time was the booking for. We advised 1pm (exactly on time). She gave us a lame sorry, you have to go to the end of the queue, turned her back on us and walked off. We did not stay. They were nowhere near starting to process any of these poor people standing in the queue which was so daunting. With a specified time also for staying in the museum itself, it was impossible to see how this timeline was going to be achieved. Incredibly bad preparation for alot of people, including us. And disgraceful customer service from the staff. We will not be back. It should have been a brilliant experience but left a very bad taste in our mouths. Again, disgraceful.

Free entry just as good as exhibits
Nov. 2020 • Friends
Went to the “I do” weddings of QLD & Sea Monsters exhibits both approx $10 entry this more then makes up for what you see in there & then the rest which is free entry if on a budget the free stuff is worth for alone so many persevered animals including a giant squid. Staff were so polite & friendly very happy to help. On Covid aspect regular sanitation & limited numbers in areas. Only downside is the gift shop items quite expensive maybe would sell more if prices lowered slightly? Would highly recommend for day out for all ages.
