There are always special deals in the various magazines. If you are in the RACQ it usually has deals. Trip a deal web site always has deals going.

Not sure about cheap, but at Longreach Tourist park at the moment. In peak times they cram a lot of camps in here. I'd try Ilfracombe if you don't like crowds & maybe a little cheaper & still easy driving to Longreach
