- Jo AAdelaide, Australia219 contributionsQantas Hangar - full of history!!I thoroughly recommend a visit to the Qantas Hangar. We have been to Darwin quite a few times and have always driven past the sign to the Hangar but this time we decided to have a look and I’m really glad we did. There are so many historic and interesting things to see in the Hangar which is looked after and used by the Motor Vehicle Enthusiasts Club NT. It was really lovely to chat with a couple of the club members as they shared their knowledge and passion about the vehicles and aviation history!Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 January 2024
- Tim WElimbah, Australia449 contributionsGreat place run by awesome volunteersFantastic facility manned by a passionate and friendly group of volunteers. Some amazing Vehicles, machinery and vintage tools are housed in this historic and the volunteers are only too happy to show you around. You can even see bullet holes from the WW2 air raid. Entry is via a gold coin donation but we chucked them a tenner because we think they're awesome and it's well worth it!Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 May 2024

Huge shed full of weird and wonderful collection of anything with an engine plus a few odd bits relating to the history of Darwin, run by the Darwin Motor Enthusiast Club. It's free to enter although donations are welcome and run by volunteers that can be found working on their bikes and cars in the workshops. They are a friendly bunch and up for a chat if you feel like it. For anything who likes cars, motorbikes, fire engines, trains, it' worth a wander.

After several years of wanting to go here I finally made it. I was not disappointed, there is plenty of old cars and bikes to look at. The bullet holes from WW2 are an interesting part of history.

What a awesome place to spend time. I only had an hour but could have spent all day. A absolute must see for anyone visiting Darwin that has a interest in cars, trucks or bikes. The displays of tools of days gone by reminded me of the time spent with my grandfather in his garage learning how machines worked. So very good.

A fabulous display of motor memorabilia. Wonderful partnership with the Motor Vehicle Enthusiasts Club utilising the heritage listed QANTAS hangar. Wonderful to see volunteers at work on their own projects, and willing to show you round and tell you stories. Well done all.

This gem of a place to visit was a surprise ... we’ve been to Darwin many times and never found this place before. It’s full to the ceiling with old cars, motorbikes and motors. Definitely a place for the boys to chill out. The WW2 damage was a surprise. If you walk down the road a bit you can see the aviation history plaque as well.

Great morning spent looking around Hanger 1934. A great collection of cars, trucks and motorcycles from the early 1900's up. The lads at the Hanger were a fountain of knowledge and eager to sit and talk about the hanger and there restoration works. Entry via donation and a very interesting few hours.

I have often driven past the Qantas Hanger sign meaning to stop and have a look. Earlier this year I had a friend up and finally did stop. I was expecting more Airline memorabilia but instead their were vintage vehicle and petrol sights and all sorts of odds and ins.
