We cannot recommend Charter North any more highly! From the initial planning emails, we were impressed with Alina and Grieg’s efficient professionalism, prompt communication and personalised approach in creating a customised itinerary for our family of 6 (4 teenagers 13-16yo). The dedication and passion they share towards providing customers the best tour experience was apparent throughout the whole process with such attention to detail and care in all aspects.
Our family had a fantastic 4 days with GT and were thoroughly entertained and educated by GT’s stories, humour and passion. We never ran out of conversation despite the many hours of driving. He took the time to chat to each of our children and engage them individually in the experience. His extensive experience from travelling and guiding in the top end for 25 years meant there was nothing he didn’t know! His genuine passion and enthusiasm for the top end was apparent and inspiring. Due to his expertise and planning, we were able to explore more remote areas of Kakadu where we had access to crystal clear water in beautiful gorgeous gorges with few others around. We also got to play in the beautiful waterfalls and rock pools of Litchfield.
We were well fed with fantastic meals prepared each night over the wood fire and the snacks and lunches were healthy and enjoyable. We all enjoyed sleeping under the stars and kept warm in the provided swags and tents. Our kids enjoying the unique experience and appreciated the remote beauty of the area, and didn’t even complain about the lack of phone reception!
We are so grateful to have found Charter North and to have such a rare and unique opportunity to have such a memorable experience. Thank you GT and Alina!!

Our family of 2 adults and 2 kids (11 & 13) did the 6 day Kakadu and Beyond tour and I cannot recommend Charter North more highly. Thanks to Greig and Alina for organising such a great trip for us. Communication and booking process was excellent. Our guide Bronni was a wealth of knowledge and catered the itinerary to our interests. We got to do some fantastic hikes and swims in beautiful fresh water holes. The scenery is spectacular. The kids said that Bronni made everything so fun and they loved it! We really appreciated getting away from the crowds and even spent one night camping in a spot with not another soul to be seen. The food was great - healthy and fresh. Bronni did an awesome job cooking over the campfire. The camp gear was good quality and quick and easy to set up. It really is great to turn up for a camping trip just having to pack your clothes and not worry about anything else. Thanks again Greig, Alina and Bronni for a fantastic trip!

Hi Kym,
Many thanks for your awesome and detailed review! We agree, the fact that you can just turn up to an incredible remote camping adventure with a small bag of clothes and have everything else organised for you is one of the great advantages of a fully guided private tour. Along with the customised itinerary planned in advance according to your preferences, and our highly knowledgeable and personable guides, this is what sets a Charter North 4WD adventure apart from a coach tour or self drive. You can be assured that your holiday will be fun, safe and informative without having to do all the research and organisation yourself; you can simply rely on our 25 years of local experience and of course you can contact us at any time for any questions. All of this means a stress free holiday and life long memories :)
Thank you again for travelling with Charter North, all the best! Alina.

What a wonderful life experience in an amazing part of the world!
We are a family of 4 with young adults 18 & 20 who all thoroughly enjoyed our time with Greig from Charter North.
We spoke to Greig as part of the booking process (tip - book as early as you can) who provided us with a great overview of how Charter North differentiates itself in the market. These are private tours where all you need to do is bring yourself and your clothes and they take care of all the rest - perfect so everyone in the family is on holiday.
We worked our way through Kakadu for 3 days and then down to Katherine and back up to Litchfield. Greig provides an in-depth commentary along the way that included: rock art; visiting gorges; bush camping; and lots of stories and laughs along the way (and more!)
Charter North's equipment provided: comfortable sleeping in swags in dome tents (the stars are amazing!); a very comfortable 4WD (over 800km covered); and impressive catering (Greig just makes it all happen).
We would highly recommend Charter North and are now thinking about a Kimberley adventure.

We are 2 couples in our 60s and have just returned from a 4 day Kakadu experience with tour leader Bronwyn. We highly recommend Charter North as everything was well organised, car was very well maintained and the excursions planned showed us the depth and breadth of Kakadu. From the moment we booked to the end of the tour we were treated with utmost respect with all requests or ideas catered for. Bronwyn’s knowledge was outstanding, particularly her termite knowledge! GT provided us with lots of information prior to the trip. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Thank you so much for taking the time to review us and travelling with Charter North! It was great to have you all on board and show you around Kakadu! Thank you for being so curious and adventurous while also finding the time to relax- it is a holiday after all ;)
Bronwyn really enjoyed guiding you through Kakadu's spectacular (cultural) landscapes and the daily conversations and humour within the group. We hope to see you all back in the Top End one day!
Warm regards, Alina & GT.

It was wonderful to sleep out in swags under huge star-filled skies, protected only by
the insect mesh of the tent without needing the tent fly.
Bush camping sites were a treat, especially relaxing around a campfire while Greig cooked the dinner in a camp oven.
The knowledge shared by our guide ,Greig Taylor, of the local aboriginal art sites, history & customs, and the country we travelled through, was excellent.
Watching the dawn over the Bungle Bungles, which illuminated the famous stripes of the beehive rock formations was a highlight of the journey.

Hi Deborah & Kevin,
Many thanks for your review! Great to hear that you enjoyed your Kimberley tour and the knowledge and experiences provided by Greig.
We are glad that you appreciated the bush camping experience so much, which we believe is a big part of the Kimberley experience (or any other remote Australian road trip). It sure beats squeezing into noisy campgrounds.
Thank you so much for your adventurous and fun attitude, it was great to meet you both!
All the best, Greig & Alina.

My wife and I and 2 university age daughters did the 6 day safari with Alina through Kakadu, Katherine Gorge and Litchfield National Park. It was stunning. The majestic scenery, timeless Indigenous art, gorgeous and totally rejuvenating waterfalls and swimming holes. There was a great mix of camping conditions, from hot showers all the way to ‘here is the shovel, go 30m that way’, all of it sleeping under a bed of stars. Alina - guide/ driver/ cook/ Wonder Woman - was tireless in delivering exemplary service, delicious campfire meals and a wealth of information.

Four friends (adult women) embarked on a 2 night, 3 day Kakadu camping tour with Charter North at a cost of $6000.
We experienced a lot of hiking, rock art and swimming holes in which the tour guides were very experienced.
However, it was campling at its most basic. The campsites were lacking and uncomfortable ie unbearable mosquitos, repulsive smelling longdrops (unusable) with no washing amenties. Two very small 2 man tents and swags were provided (which we had to set up ourselves). Whilst the camp sites are not the tour operators responsibility I would have exected it their responsibility to have ensured a level of comfort and preplanning.
Whilst the evening meals were adequate the lunches were the same for 3 days using leftovers from the previous day and no tea or coffee provided except at breakfast.
For the cost involved it was not value for money and I expected a more upmarket experience, I would not recommend.

Hi Julie,
We are a little disappointed to see your review, our guides had the impression that all four of you thoroughly enjoyed your tour.
You are correct, your group booked a private, mobile camping tour with tents and swags. We explained to your friend/ our booking contact Prue in detail what this includes and what you get for your money,
The tents we use are four person tents and the dimensions are 240 x 220 cm, head height 180 cm. I offered Prue four or two tents for the group, and she chose two, so that is what we provided. We use these tents because they are very easy to set up, but our guides are always happy to help if needed. We provide comfortable swags fitted with high density foam mattresses, pillows & pillow slips, fitted sheets, doonas and doona covers. These are made up by us ready to go and provide high levels of camping comfort.
I am sorry that the campsites we used on your tour didn't meet your expectations. Most campsites in Kakadu are close to wetland areas, and therefore there can be mosquitoes under some conditions. This can change daily so it is hard to predict, but it is more likely early in the season. On the first night of your tour we stayed at Mardagul campground, where you had access to flushing toilets and showers. Because of the mosquito activity there, we moved to a different campsite for the second night, which had little to no mosquito activity, however, they only had composting toilets. The group expressed at the time that they were very happy with this move and enjoyed the more "bush" style experience and serenity of the second campsite. We did not think it would be a problem not having showers for one night, and you did have a swimming opportunity on the next morning.
The camping options in Kakadu are limited early in the season when not all campsites are open. We chose the best options available at the time, but any mosquito activity and upkeep of toilet facilities in Kakadu are out of our control. You can be assured that had there been a better option, we would have chosen it. It is a little unfair to suggest that there was no preplanning or concern for your comfort.
We are glad that you enjoyed our campfire dinners, and are sorry to hear that you were unhappy with our lunch provisions. For lunches, we provide fresh rolls, bread and wraps with fresh deli meats, cheese, boiled eggs as well as plenty of fresh lettuce/ spinach leaves, tomatoes, capsicum, cucumber, avocado, beetroot and condiments. This is a healthy lunch prepared fresh by our guides each day, and usually our tour guests are very happy with the options and variety. Everyone has different preferences and we give all of our groups the opportunity to let us know of any preferences through the booking process. Our tour catering is planned around healthy food that travels well and our lunches are designed to be tasty and nutritious while not taking up too much time, as the emphasis of our tours is on actively exploring our national parks, Our guides offered you some leftovers from the previous night's dinner, but this was in addition to our normal lunch provisions and you were not expected to take up the offer if you didn't want to. If you have any suggestions on what we could add to our lunch provisions please let me know.
Our guides are always happy to make coffee and tea during the day if asked, while considering our well planned tour timing an program flow for the activities of the day. We also provide plenty of snacks and fresh fruit during the day, and felt that you enjoyed the cheese, crackers and dips provided.
I am sorry that you feel that you did not get value for money on this tour. Our private tours are very fairly and competitively priced and are an alternative to larger mixed group tours with set schedules and itineraries.
We do not offer luxury tours, we offer the opportunity to organise your own private tour planned around your interests and preferences, while all of our equipment and provisions are of a high standard. For travellers who do not see any value in a private tour, there are other options and its good to have choice.
All the best, kind regards, Alina.

We’re a family of 4 (with two boys aged 9 and 6). We did a 3-day Kakadu tour with Greig (GT).
We had an excellent experience from our initial e-interactions with Alina who was very patient in helping us find the most suitable trip/itinerary (even after we had to make a few adjustments in the lead up) to GT going out of his way to drop us at the airport after the tour to make sure we made our flight! Nothing was too much trouble.
One of the most important benefits to going on a private tour with Charter North was GT knowing how far we could stretch our sons when it came to the hikes and swims. That allowed us to experience more than we would have otherwise done by ourselves, maximising the trip for us all.
The food on tour is excellent - healthy, fresh and varied. Camping in a dome tent in a swag under the stars was stunning.
We saw a lot of self drives when we were on tour but if you want the real experience, with a guide that truly understands the land and its cultural significance, and will explain it to you with real passion, I’d strongly recommend going with Charter North.
Thanks Alina and GT for an incredible trip. It’s one we’ll remember forever.

Hi Tim.
Hows things? Just wanted to finally thank you for your awesome tour review! Been a while I know, but taken a while to get back on top of things are the turmoil of covid. So glad to hear you were all so happy with your trip, and what a pleasure it was to spend time with you guys. I love your comparison between a self drive experience and a guided tour, for those who are considering one against the other. We strongly believe seeing Kakadu and our top end through the eyes and experience of someone like us brings a much enriched overall outcome. Thanks for choosing us mate, and happy memories! Cheers, GT & Alina.

Our family of 5 had a wonderful experience exploring Kakadu National Park. Greig was a very professional, considerate and knowledgeable guide, very easy to talk to and drove our precious family around very safely. He knew so much about the wildlife, indigenous culture and country with all of us learning volumes. The car was comfortable and his cooking very tasty - the boys (all under 12) loved their pasta dish particularly! We would highly recommend a tour with Charter North 4WD Safaris.

Hi Libby!
Thanks so much for taking the time to leave us such a lovely review! Greig really enjoyed the time spent with your family and we loved your enthusiasm and openness to immerse yourselves in the destination! We believe this is such an important part of a meaningful holiday and makes it so much more memorable.
It would be great to have you on board again when the boys are a little older, and perhaps go on a bigger adventure in the Kimberley? ;)
All the best, Alina & Greig.

Enjoyed all components a a fabulous Kakadu trip. The scenery especially the stone country and the rock art was far better than we anticipated with the information provided by our very knowledgeable guide GT adding much to our enjoyment. We loved the rock pools to swim in after a hike. The food was excellent, varied and healthy. We slept in mozzie free tents using swags which were very comfortable. GT knew all the birds and plants during our trip which was very helpful. The vehicle was great and air con was welcome at times.

Hi John and Kath,
Thank you so much for your detailed review. Great that you were so satisfied with all aspects of your tour and that Kakadu's spectacular landscapes exceeded your expectations. There is a lot more to Kakadu than many people think, it is so much more than waterfalls! Of course, it does really add to the experience to be able to access the local knowledge of an experienced guide, as it puts everything into context and really deepens the experience, as well as being able to access areas many visitors don't know about ;) Thank you both for being up for the hikes and exploring, we are glad it was all worth it :)
All the best, GT and Alina.
