Honestly, this was one of the best trips away we have had. I went with my wife and two of our friends and stayed for 3 nights and 3 days. The glamping tents were very comfortable. The views were phenomenal. And the staff were so lovely. They made you feel instantly welcome and comfortable.
The food was so delicious. Dave was around who was the main chef each night and we had some of the best meals ever, including freshly caught fish, steak, oysters - you name it.
And the fishing was absolutely unreal! We didn't have the greatest weather whilst we were there with the wind blowing but Travis, our fishing guide for our stay had no dramas getting us onto the fish and it was honestly the best 3 days fishing i've ever had. Big coral trout, goldies (fingermark bream), queenies, endless trevally of various types, tuna, mackies. The boat was great - super stable and very comfortable wish fishability all round, and i've never felt so pampered having somebody bait hooks and re-do knots.
I can't speak highly enough of Cobourg Fishing Safaris and I am definitely coming back if I ever get the chance!

We joined the tour for a day trip only from our campsite in the national park at Garig Gunak Barlu (Coburg peninsula). It seems it is rare to get this chance so we grabbed it. There are only 6 seats on the boat so very personalised. The itinerary was to fish in different locations until the sharks found us and took our fish, then we would move on to another hot spot. We caught an amazing amount of fish and fantastic diversity. I’m mot a fishing person but I had a ball. Then to visit Victoria settlement and do a 3-4 km walk there.
I’m a bit scared of boat trips as I’ve had some bad experiences as you don’t know the skipper and standards etc. But Travis the skipper and tour guide was a highlight, like super man even. His knowledge, passion and respect for the area was incredible. He worked tirelessly changing rigs, filleting your fish, answering questions etc etc. unbelievable.
Highly recommend this tour!

Travelled from Tassie to do a 4 day adventure with my 15 y.o son. Looking for some quality bonding time after a crazy +12 months with the COVID situation we are all in. Both of us have a love for fishing but have not experienced anything like the 4 days we had a Cobourg Fishing Safaris.
The entire team at the camp are amazing, Travis is an amazing skipper and guide, I suspect he is part fish. Every whereTravis took us, we basically fished to exhaustion.
My son and I had a 'wish' catch list, after the 4 days we had ticked everything off. After my son landed a 120cm GT on day to 2, you could not wipe the smile off his face. We caught Barra, Mangrove Jack, GTs, Mackeral, Queen fish, Coral trout, Golden snapper.... ooohh the list goes on.
After a day of fishing to exhaustion, nothing beats grabbing a couple of cold beers heading to the sunset shower to cool and wind down, followed by the amazing food. It starts with the canapes to watch the sun go down followed by 5star food for dinner.
This was a bucket list trip for my son and I.... all we have to do now is persuade the minister for Fun, Finance and Affairs to allow us to do it again.
Could not recommend it enough, from the comms with Aaron when booking, to wiping the tears away as we boarded the plane back to Darwin, it was the best holiday ever.

One day charter - had the whole boat to ourselves. Unbelievable day on the water with my partner. 15 species of fish.Travis is a legend and knows the place like the back of his hand. Could not recommend enough. I’ve fished in the NT for 6 years including three years on TIWI and this would be the best day of fishing I’ve ever had.

Just had a fantastic fishing charter out at Cobourg with three mates from SA for 5 nights and four full days fishing. The fishing was epic with heaps of species caught and some great fun with the sharks . Fishing guide Travis was exceptional and he had plenty of practice on his rig making and had great knowledge of the local area . The food was five star and the camp was a tropical paradise will certainly be booking another trip with these guys

Have just returned from 3 amazing days with CFS, took three fishing novice mates along to celebrate my 50th and could not speak highly enough about the Cobourg experience and the entire team. It was terrific service and faultless hospitality from the very first email I sent to the very last after I returned. The team at the camp are exemplary, Chef Dave's cooking was first class, Travis ran the camp in an extremely professional and friendly manner, nothing was too much trouble and we really appreciated Matt’s patience and willingness as our guide on the water to educate the fishing newbies and constantly put them on top quality fish. I've fished with a number of similar fishing tours, and must say the seamless arrangements is what sets this team above all others and leaves a lasting impression. So, while we went with the thought it would be a ‘once in a lifetime experience’ we all can't wait to return!!

So glad you FINALLY got to celebrate your milestone with us! It means a lot to everyone involved to get this feedback and know we are making people's "once in a lifetime experience" great! Or as you said, maybe it will be more than "once in a lifetime"?!?
Looking forward to seeing you back in the boat soon!

Cobourg Fishing Safaris is located in an beautiful waterside location. The permanent tents are well appointed, the meals are sensational, and the fishing is incredible. Plenty of opportunity to catch that fish of a lifetime. A mixture of fishing in the creeks and around the mangroves and in the open blue water, provided me with great catches throughout my 6 day stay. The staff are very obliging, and very knowledgeable. Travis is a great camp host and as a guide and skipper, put me "on the fish" time and time again. I thoroughly recommend Cobourg Fishing Safaris to anyone who loves fishing and just enjoys being out there!

Early one Saturday morning I set off to fly with Frontier Air to Port Essington to visit the ruins of the early settlement called Victoria. Victoria only lasted from 1838 until 1949. The tragedy was the loss of so many young lives. At Coburg Fishing Safars Camp we were warmly welcomed by the staff. Our guide, a man with an extensive knowledge of both the history of Victoria as well as the Makassan men who had fished for Trepang along this beautiful piece of Australian coastline. Three or four attempts were made by the British Government to develop a settlement in the North of Australia that, this was to be similar to Singapore.
We reached Victoria after a wonderful boat trip along am absolutely beautiful scenery long white beaches and vibrant red cliffs it was magical, this alone was a great experience, this part of the trip lasting about 30 mins.
We started our tour of the Victoria ruins at the cemetery which was rather a sombre experience thinking about those young people who lay in those isolated graves and the families who were left to grieve. One cannot help but think that the British Government of the time did not look after the people who went out to Victoria very well.
We saw the ruins of the quartermaster stores, blacksmith shop, baker shop, a kiln for the production of lime and for making bricks, the hospital ruins, the officer’s quarters which amused me greatly they were built in true British style with an open fire place (which must have been used for cooking, certainly no heating was needed in Victoria) we also saw a powder magazine which was beautifully built and still intact found the symmetry was amazing, the remains of the officers ness were very tiny and interestingly the remains of champagne and schnapps bottles could still be found. It was clear the buildings were the work of expert craftsmen.
There was much evidence of the Makassan men who fished for trepang and planted Tamarind trees which were grown to mark the place where fresh water could be found, the trees were clearly visible from the water.
Visiting Victoria was a wonderful experience, the guide was very informative and very patient, the pilot was a delight – he carried my back pack and took heaps of photographs for me I cannot thank both of these people enough. They really made my day even more wonderful.

Half day tour and it was the best day out. We had a great half hour of fishing frenzy on the way. Travis was very informative about everything regarding the settlement. Even though it was hard going on such a hot day would highly recommend this trip to everyone.

Appreciation and thanks to the team of staff that are currently out at the Safari campsite, in particular to our guide Nick who is much deserving of commendations.
From the friendliness nature and helpfulness of the staff, their experiences and knowledge, to the amazing meals whipped up by chef Gavin - everything was delicious and beautifully presented.
Our guide, Nick, was extremely knowledgeable of the area and surrounds. His expertise and the care in which he took to guide us through our fishing experience was second to none. Our group of three certainly ticked our bucket lists with the endless species caught each day. Difficult to pick favourite highlights, though certainly enjoyed creek fishing for barramundis and trawling for Spanish mackerel - amazing experience!
Thank you Nick for the new learnt tips also. Our catch throughout have been the envy of many family members and friends back home in both Melbourne & Townsville.
This is a must do, not only for your love of fishing… the views are spectacular!

Chance to get a Barra is the only reason for this holiday
Written 22 August 2016
Hi,
We went reef fishing so my experience with Barra is in eating, not catching. Check with them. We traveled in a group of 6 and paid $600 per person for the day. But again, I would call them.
Have fun
