Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Early start from Darwin Airport with just us and our wonderful pilot Shrivan. Flew south to Katherine airport (Tindal) and took a taxi through Katherine to Nitmiluk National Park for a fabulous scenic helicopter flight through the 13 gorges with Nitmiluk Heli-Tours and our pilot Matt. Truly awesome! Back to the Airport and a quick flight to Cooinda (Kakadu) for the Yellow Waters Boat Cruise followed by lunch at Cooinda Lodge. Back in the plane and Shrivan flew us over Jabiru, Jim Jim and Twin Falls and the magnificent escarpments of Kakadu National Park. Then it was time to head home over South Alligator and Adelaide Rivers, landing safely back in Darwin. It was a truly wonderful day, a unique experience with spectacular scenery. Shrivan was an excellent pilot and a very informative guide. This is a fabulous way to see Nitmiluk and Kakadu National Parks and the area covered in one day makes it very much a value for money experience. I can really recommend this experience as a must do when coming to the Darwin and the Northern Territory

I booked this tour for my husband's birthday and it did not disappoint! What a spectacular way to see the territory. Our Pilot was amazing and extremely knowledgeable about every area we flew over. I would definitely recommend anyone wanting to visit Katherine & Kakadu in a day to do it my air, you will be blown away by how spectacular it is from this view.

This tour was a disaster. The helicopter flight had been advertised as "a helicopter ride through the twists and turns of Katherine Gorge" and the accompanying photo had shown a helicopter flying through a gorge. Our flight proceeded high above the gorges and it became clear that we would only fully experience the "all encompassing view of the grandeur and brilliance of the gorges" referred to in the advertisement while undertaking the cruise through Katherine Gorge. That experience was not fulfilled because the operator had failed to book us on the cruise.
Consequently the experience we had been promised involved travelling more than 700 kilometres for more than 8 hours to undertake a 20 minute helicopter flight which was not as advertised. What we had expected to be a highlight of our holiday was not only a bitter disappointment on the day but also spoilt our whole experience of the Top End.
We were not contacted by the operator and given an explanation for more than a week and then only after we had sent an email and made a telephone call to the Darwin office. Subsequently, the operator's director based in Perth begrudgingly and without apology gave us a partial refund of the cost paid by us.

Hello John, again we are sorry that your tour was such a bad experience. As we explained, we did everything that we could to try and rectify the cruise not being booked but this was out of our control and was not booked by the cruise operators themselves. We have never had any complaints on the helicopter tour over the gorges, we are sorry that this was not to your expectations. We felt that the refund offered to you was justifiable, as our costs were not covered after this. Then you continued to ask for more compensation which has left a small family run business at a loss. We increased the refund at your request after threats of bad publicity and slander, while trying our best to be as polite and understanding as we could. I believe that we came to a fair agreement in the end, which so we thought had resolved your opinion on Kookaburra Air. We hope that you enjoyed the rest of your time in the NT. Thank you.

really fantastic! I recommend this as every visitor's first introduction to the NT

in one day, you'll get to see landscape which you won't be able to see via days of driving. The light plane and helicopter are able to fly over terrain that cars can't reach and where there are no roads.

I highly recommend this particular overview day trip
Our pilot Sam was really fantastic as he guided us throughout the day across the incredible topography of NT

We are delighted that you enjoyed your tour around the top end with us! Our pilots really do enjoy sharing their knowledge of the Northern Territory and we are glad you got to share that with them. Regards, Steve :)

We had an absolutely outstanding day, the helicopter flight over the Katherine Gorge was amazing and then the cruise along the first and second gorge was mind blowing.

The flight to and from Darwin/Katherine was well worth while, made for a wonderful day. Loved brunch at Pop Rocket!

If you have limited time then this is definitely the way to see Katherine Gorge.

Our day with Kookaburra Air was outstanding. We had an excellent pilot, Eric, who made sure we had a great day.

The views of the escarpments in Kakadu are amazing from the air, and I really loved the waterfalls.

The Yellow River boat cruise was amazing too. Highly recommend this tour as a great way to see Kakadu from Darwin!

The fixed wing plane experience was fantastic and our Pilot was highly professional and Knowledgeable and an enjoyable person to spend the day with. The Kakadu boat trip was also good. The helicopter flight was a big disappointment. We have had some great chopper experiences before but this was Like being in a crop duster. We got nowhere near the gorge and the pilot didn’t speak with us throughout the flight. I’ve been to Katherine gorge before on a boat tour and this chopper pilot did not do the gorge justice. The chopper was old and dirty and had very poor viewing unless you were sitting with the pilot. The intercom didn’t work when I tried to ask the pilot questions. I would recommend only doing the Kakadu and fixed plane part of this trip.

Hi Togram22, We're glad to hear that you enjoyed the fixed wing plane experience and boat trip in Kakadu! Sorry to hear about the helicopter flight. We always try to give customers the best experience possible, and we'll take your review into consideration. There is also the option to tour without the chopper flight. Hope to see you fly with us again one day!

We started our day early and took the 1 hour flight down to Katherine, where we were met by our local guide Fred show showed us the sights before heading to our helicopter flight. The flight over the 13 gorges was breathtaking and made you appreciate just how big it was. On our return we were then dropped off for our 2 hour cruise of the gorges followed by lunch and return trip back to Darwin. Our Pilot Jonathon was awesome, we got to hang out with him for the whole day and we all felt like old friends by the time we returned. This tour is excellent value for money as everything is included (except for lunch). If you are short on time this is definitely the way to see Katherine.
