FAR OUT ADVENTURES operate tailor made tours in the remote north of Australia. Owner Mike Keighley has over 20 years experience taking guests from all over the world to unique and remote locations.Tours range from one day to extended safaris with a focus on wildlife, geography and Aboriginal culture. Accommodation varies from camping out under the stars to comfortable cabin/motels.Mike has been awarded Australian Eco Guide of the Year for the past three years in a row.

Far out! Mike is the most knowledge guide with the biggest heart. He’s the quintessential laid back Aussie with a thirst for adventure. Mike’s passion for termites, snakes, the best water holes, Aboriginal culture, Aussie animals, bush plants and NT history knows no bounds. He knows where to go, why and how, and made our visit the most memorable one. We started out strangers and left as friends. Thanks Mike - forever indebted.

A truly amazing experience with my kids’ school trip. Mike is a world of knowledge, connected to the land, the people and the culture. He made the trip a truly memorable one, with his dry humour and beautiful stories of the history, the flora / fauna and the aboriginal connection. Cannot recommend Mike and Far Out adventures strongly enough for an unforgettable experience in the NT!

Outstanding tour guide. Mike has the passion, the knowledge and a huge heart to be one of the best tour guides for Northern Territory, QLD and Western Australia.
Mike always guided our tour with our interest in mind.

Far out adventures gave us so much more than I could ever hope to gain travelling to outback NT. After living a lifetime in these parts, Mike shares the experience only an insider can share. The way in which all locals accept and respect him is an indicator of the fact that you get so much more than a tour guide with him at the helm. You are being led by a person whose heart is in this country and whose thoughtfulness and insights and incredible stories will provide you with a truly unforgettable experience. This was a trip beyond my imagining all thanks to far out adventures!

Had a fantastic 5 day, 4 night trip in the Northern Territory with Mike in August. my wife and I and our 2 adult daughters , fitted comfortably in Mike's 4wd , when he collected us from our accomodation in Darwin. He had a small trailer to fit some of our luggage. Our customised itinerary as agreed in advance with Mike, included a couple of hours driving most days, but punctuated by walks, aboriginal rock art, waterfalls and swims , picnics and several river boat trips. The boat trips included Mary River, Yellow river , an Aboriginal guided boat cruise into Arnhem Land and the Nitmilik gorges. Each boat trip was well worthwhile and each offered a slightly different variation on the landscape with opportunities to see wildlife especially birds ,and of course crocs, at close quarters. An optional extra which I would strongly recommend was an early morning helicopter trip , a first time experience for all of us but we felt completely safe in the competent hands of our friendly pilot Tom .The views from the sky over Kakadu and Arnhem Land were stunning . We also had several stops en route to visit aboriginal culture centres and Mike himself is a font of knowledge on the aboriginal peoples of the area. . Our accommodation was a mixture of glamping, lodges and motel. Mike provided a picnic lunch every day. Everywhere we went Mike was a recognised and popular figure and he was excellent company throughout our 5 day trip. As a family we all agreed afterwards that this has probably our best holiday as a family ever, and I would strongly recommend Mike as a guide for anyone contemplating a NT guided trip.
