my husband and I went on the scenic flights, air boat and river cruise on the Mary River Wetlands.
The Mary River Wetlands Air Boat and River Cruise run by Jake to say was incredible is an understatement. Jake took us out on the air boat which is an experience in its self – flying across the wetland through the lilies with birds flying around you was magical. Jace was able to point out many different species of birds along the way – first time seeing a brolga – he spoke of each bird with such detail. We saw many croc’s both fresh water and salt water and also managed to see a few buffalo. Riley who was his first week – we would never have guess this – was able to also spot out these animals and provided great knowledge. Both Jake and Riley gave us such an incredible tour and the knowledge was just extraordinary. We then hoped on the Mary River Boat Cruise for over an hour. Ben provided us with a delicious cheese platter from local caterers to eat on out cruise. I would highly recommend going on the air boat first – its fast paced and you can experience a large area quickly and its also a lot of fun. Second the cruise is a slower pace but allows you to really soak in the beauty of the wetlands. The cruise with Jake was beautiful – this area is a hidden gem in Australia, and I would recommend everyone visits at some point. The large amount of species of birds, animals and Croc’s is extraordinary. But the highlight is the tour that Jake provides with all his knowledge. He was very processional, knowledgeable, funny, and down to earth. He answered all questions and was able to go into great detail. His passion and love for nature in these wetlands shines through when talking to him. Riley was also wonderful and knew a lot about the indigenous details of the tour. There was so much to take in and learn and it’s a place I cannot wait to visit again.
Thankyou so much truly Jake, Ben and Riley for an amazing day in the Northern Territory.

Booked a 45 minute airboat tour with Wildlands Wetlands Safari Cruises as the time frame suited our itinerary better than the other Wetlands Cruise company who depart from the same area. I think Wildlands is quite a new company as we arrived (a little early) to find locked gates with an advertising banner and saw a gazebo in the distance so we were a little confused, however it wasn't long before our guide appeared returning from another cruise. We had not been on an airboat before and was surprised how smooth it was. Had an enjoyable cruise although the airboat was loud and we had to wear headphones. The guide had to stop the boat to chat to us but was very informative and we disturbed a huge croc literally a metre or two from the boat which was very exciting. At $195 each, it was an expensive option but within keeping with other airboats tours we've seen so probably on par. Although we came very close and personal with the wildlife I feel we may have seen just as much and had more commentary on one of the cheaper conventional boat cruises. Still it was something a little different and you did feel like you were in the Florida Keys

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your tour with us. It is much appreciated and we are glad you enjoyed it. We have been operating for a number of years but prefer to keep our footprint on the area to a minimum to preserve the surrounding environment. The hearing protection ear muffs are a survey requirement for the airboats when in motion as the fan motor does generate a bit of noise but as you said, the guide will take every opportunity to provide commentary during the tour. We also offer river cruises in conventional boats too but the airboat is a special experience as it can access areas of the wetlands where other vessels cannot go. All the best and we hope to see you again one day.

I booked a safari cruise with Wildlands at 4:30pm on the 26/07/21 and I was incredibly impressed. I have worked with crocodile tours in Far North Queensland for 10 years now so I have very high expectations and know exactly what a good tour guide and company look like. This cruise ticked all the boxes.

Our guide, Josh, was exceptional in his knowledge, customer service, boat handling skills and more. You can clearly see his passion and experience come through in the delivery of his tours. The talk he provided about the flora and fauna on the billabong was detailed and informative and his charisma and hands on attitude with the guests aboard made the tour feel personalised and special.

This was especially impressive as we had a tour with only 4 guests aboard. Josh had explained that that the air boat is the companies main focus and that the safari tours weren’t as popular, however, we were still treated with incredible professionalism, and he went above and beyond to make our trip memorable. The tour itself was also very good value for money in comparison with the other companies I had looked at throughout the Northern Territory.

In summary I would not hesitate to book a tour with Wildlands again and will be strongly recommending them to anyone travelling to the NT. Good guides will make or break any wildlife tour and there is no substitute for someone with genuine knowledge, experience and outstanding passion.

Thanks Bonnie, we’ve responded to your review on our Facebook page and we’re super happy you took the time to also leave your wonderful review here. The airboats have proven very popular this year but a leisurely cruise through the amazing waterways at Corroboree Billabong is always one of our favourites.

Brilliant experience. Josh was a fantastic guide.... very personable and extremely knowledgeable. We were pleased we went early in the morning and early in the season (whilst the water levels were still high following the wet season). Would advise visiting Fogg Dam on the same day, preferably at sunrise.

What a wonderful, fun, exciting and educational experience. Never tried an airboat before and thought this was a good opportunity - which it truly was.
Booking onto the airboat trip got us to places you cannot go otherwise, it’s such a wonderful and exciting experience, we loved every minute of it. The guide driving the bit was exceptionally knowledgeable, jovial and a great sport all along.
This is a trip we can highly recommend for locals and visitors alike. Definitely 10 out of 10

This tour is absolutely amazing ! Josh the pilot/driver of the airboat is so knowledgeable about everything you see and educates you on bush tucker and highlights all the animals and plant life you see on your exhilarating journey. We saw Ned the resident billabong croc, too many birds to name, water buffalo, pigs and a Jabiru just to top it off. Jake back at the dock was on hand to help on and off. These guys are so passionate about what they do. Cannot recommend highly enough 10 out of 10 from us. Thanks guys it was awesome

Brilliant hour ( 4.30-5.30) packed with sightings of so many massive crocs, beautiful Jabiru’s, white breasted eagles, wedge-tails and superb water lilies and lotus flowers. Josh our guide was so interesting sharing his broad knowledge of the indigenous culture, flora and fauna ( especially Crocs!). We had the cruise to ourselves in late August 2021 and pitied the poor people packed into the Wetlands boat which is the other cruise company that advertises heavily. Do yourself a favour and go with WildLands instead!

This trip was the highlight of our holiday. Jake, our guide, was personable and very knowledgeable. He helped us spot crocodiles in and out of the water, and many different birds and plants. He had knowledge of the traditional owners Dreamtime and other stories concerning the things we saw, and of the the way they used the plants. There was plenty of opportunity for photography.
Cold water was provided, and the boat had good shading. If you possess binoculars I highly recommend taking them.

Wow, what an experience. We had the most amazing time on the wetlands cruise. Our tour guide Jake was awesome, he's knowledge of the area, wildlife and plants was very impressive. It shows the love he has for the environment he works in, that he respects it so much.
Not only did we get immersed amongst the lotus lillies🌸, we tasted their seeds and came away with the most fashionable lily pad hats😉 Not to mention the fresh water and salt crocs🐊 we saw along the way. And the bird life was abundant too. We would highly recommend this tour to any age🙂💜

Josh and Jake were fabulous skippers/guides who had an abvious love of this majestic part of Australia.
Stunning scenery, birds everywhere, crocodiles sunning themselves happily on the river bank, fish jumping, and beautiful unspoilt wetlands.

This is a smaller operation that some of the others but I would highly recommend this team, they are passionate, love their job, friendly to chat with, knowledgeable and really know how to make your experience one to truly remember.

Well done Wildlands!
