We chose to walk to the Gardens on our free day. What a lovely place. So beautifully kept. Lovely gardens and walks. Great to see tropical flowers after having been to the gardens in Alice. We are so glad we chose to visit

Based on the location of this Botanic Gardens, I had high expectations.
Being in the middle of a tourist destination, you'd expect that this place would have some money spent on it and well kept.
Lots of the place is falling apart (retaining walls, paths which are trip hazards)
A lot of the identification plaques are worn out and unreadable or located where you have trample on the garden bed.
You got to other botanic gardens and they make an effort to hide the irrigation pipes.
There is still plenty to see here and is good way to escape the Darwin heat in the more tropical areas.

Nice for a visit to wander around. Seems dogs are allowed here and can swim, which was nice.
Nice spot to visit had a cafe as well although we did not go to the cafe.

These bot gards are not bad but gardens in Cairns, Adelaide, Canberra and Sydney are better. The map provided is hopeless and misleading and the signage is inadequate.

We saw some huge spiders in the trees amazing and on the side so don’t worry. It was so hot the day we went so we didn’t stay for too long. The wet season meant everything was so lush and beautiful. I highly recommend if you’re a tree hugger like me..

The dog and I, Love going to the Botanical Gardens wandering aimlessly looking at the gardens, if lucky enough cornering one of the gardeners and picking his brains

We visited the Botanic Gardens at the end of our half day tour of the city. This was a better option than being dropped back at our hotel. We enjoyed a light lunch in the cafe before exploring the gardens. The visitors centre is worth visiting to learn more about the gardens including the cyclones and personalities who shaped its development. Overall, the gardens are well maintained and it’s easy walking, but can be hot. Worth visiting.

I'm in the horticultural industry in Melbourne, so it was heavenly being able to wander through the gardens and enjoy such a different set of plants from those I'm used to. Shady trees and lush lawns would be wonderful for a picnic. While there were a number of areas undergoing some renovations, there was still plenty to see. Would like a hard copy map of the various walks, rather than the app, as it was a pain swapping between app and camera. Lovely way to spend the morning though.
