When we arrived at the tour my husband went to find a staff member to check in with, as he walked towards (who was later introduced as) Julia she shooed him away with a hand gesture. Throughout the tour she never smiled once and when giving instructions delivered them with a bad attitude. The driver continually bad mouthed an other company that operates locally which I found quite unprofessional. After feeding a female crocodile (in another females territory) the driver said he should split them up as they had caused the fight. At that point he sped the boat up and went straight towards them. We then heard a thud, he’d hit one of the crocs. He then denied it and when we joked about it he said we could swim back. It may have been an attempt at a joke but was not followed by a smile or a laugh. We saw what we went to see but unfortunately the staff spoiled it for us.

Hi, I have followed this up with the staff involved to discuss what occurred during your cruise. Due to the strong currents in the river on the changing tides, we can occasionally drift closer towards another crocodile unintentionally, or crocodiles will decide to come closer while one is being fed to push their way in. The females are not territorial in the way that the males are. It is our standard practice that in order to prevent fighting or interactions between animals, the skipper will maneuver the vessel to be between the crocodiles. This is often easier said than done. This was what the skipper was attempting to do, but misjudged the angle of the engines before moving, causing the boat to move towards one of the crocs. The engine was disengaged immediately when the skipper realised the mistake, and the boat hull bumped the animal as it drifted. The skipper fully accepts his mistake and has been spoken to regarding making sure the engine positions when in neutral, however largely this was a minor accident that caused no potential harm to the animal or the passengers. The crocodiles are more than capable of moving away from the vessel if they choose, but because they are familiar with our boats they often aren't worried to, as unless they were hit at speed, the hull of our vessel poses little threat to them. They also often bump into the boat while moving on their own. I can assure you that Digger, the crocodile in question, is as happy and keen as ever currently, and that we note any and all instances like this for review and observation. This matter is taken seriously, and this is not to discredit the severity of the incident. The staff also informed me that a group on the cruise in question were 'annoyed' that the boat was used to separate the crocodiles, as they wanted to see them fight. This is something that all of our staff are passionately against, and the Skipper admitted that it was because of these comments that he was distracted when beginning to move the boat. He has been reminded of the importance of ignoring the yahoos on the boat looking for a cheap thrill at the expense of animal welfare. As for your other comments, I can only apologise that you do not feel that the overall customer service was lacking. Unfortunately we are subject to having off days, and being cranky from the heat. Our staff will be being reminded that their attitude is just as important as the cruise itself when it comes to giving people their monies worth. The jumper in question will also be being spoken specifically to about lifting her approach towards guests, as it does not met our personal standards. Kind regards, Management

Excellent tour, tour guides have an extensive knowledge of the crocodiles they interact with, and kept us both laughing and completely intrigued for the entire hour. Will be going again on my next holiday in the NT for sure!!

A most enjoyable and Informative cruise. Our crew Rick and (I'm sorry, I think it was) Deanna were very friendly, professional and passionate about the crocs in their section of the river. The boat was clean and comfortable and close to the water so we got a real close hand experience. We even got to see them feeding a sea eagle and kites which was an added bonus. I would definitely do the trip again and recommend it to everyone as a must do NT experience.
