We enjoyed this experience. Great way to see Darwin from the water. Lucky was a wonderful guide with exceptional local knowledge.

We too were really pleased our tour at the end of March went ahead despite the difficulty of getting on and off at the Dinah Ramp instead of the easier town mooring. As the least agile of the passengers, it was a challenge for me but a giggle, with lots of help and so worth it when we skimmed over the mudflats to view Darwin from the other side and cruise through the mangroves. Lucky was a great skipper, providing diverse information from WWII stories to environmental news. Fascinating to drift around the crocodile trap and an abandoned pearl trawler. And yes, the 360 degree spins are fun even with a bit of mud splatter thrown in. (The white t-shirt washed up beautifully!)

This was simply the best morning in Darwin. Yes the price was high but it’s worth it. The tour at 8am was just perfect as we left when the water was still and the waterfront quiet. Our guide ‘Lucky’ was awesome! Great balance of fun, tourist views, speed and spins. Enjoyed the vistas of the harbour, mangroves, wildlife and history. Loved it!

Our driver Lucky had made a great effort to allow our tour to go ahead in pretty windy weather at low tide, by bringing the previous tour in at a different boat ramp (Dinah Beach) and organising for us to board there. The office staff (2 or 3 ladies I dealt with) were really professional and diligent whenever confirming and adjusting details over the phone, and made sure we got there ok. This meant that the previous group did have to Wade through quite a bit of muddy slick harbour water to get out, since the boat was full and the sides are quite high (though there is a ramp for when they use the regular wharf I believe). So their clothing and shoes would be soaking in buckets right now! We were so grateful that our trip could still go ahead though - thanks, Lucky - but some people couldn’t make it onboard (or knew they wouldn’t get off!) so they went for the ‘full refund or rescheduled date’ offered in the brochure. Disappointing, but you can’t predict Darwin’s weather, especially in March! As others have said, we motored along nearer the city to keep the engine noise down, but Lucky really gunned it across the mud flats, and we explored various creeks and mangrove areas. We stopped regularly to learn about flora and fauna and the whole industry of croc trapping and egg-collecting, plus the conservation of all the many types of mangroves in the wider harbour area. We certainly are so fortunate to have that on our doorstep, and we should be careful to appreciate and maintain it in partnership with the traditional owners and custodians. The 360s on the way back were so much fun: certainly a different view of Darwin than we get from our balcony! You DO get sprayed with harbour water, and sometimes with mud or even having to get out elsewhere as we found at the start, so don’t wear white/light/expensive clothes, or longer pants/valuable shoes. You may need to wash or soak some things afterwards! Knowing that, and by reading reviews that lots of people will want the adrenaline elements of the tour as well as the views and boating aspects so they’ll be disappointed if some people make the driver ‘tone it down’ for them, choose wisely and if this is for you, dress appropriately, bring plenty of water, non-blow-away-hat and strong sunscreen, and you’ll have a ball!
