    BEEEEAUTIFUL!!!
We ventured out during the wet season and knew majority of the falls were closed. The upper cascades however were open and we were desperate for some water to cool off in. It was a 1.7km to the top from the carpark and we were all wearing thongs! We didn’t really come prepared for the hike but we voted in the carpark and it was 3/2 so off we went! What a trek! We done the trek in half hour each way. Some spots having to take our time with the bigger steps. Once we reached the waterhole, it is slippery so proceed with caution. We were the only ones there, finding our way to cool down in parts of the cascades. The water was the coolest (temp wise) we could find in Darwin. When you go, make sure to take enough water, you have proper shoes and possibly even take an eski and spend a good hour or so there. What a BEEEEAUTIFUL place!! Loved it!! And no one needed new thongs after this either haha

    Underwhelming
Hard walk in and out. Come with lots of water and wear good shoes. This is not a scenic walk, it’s challenging and the cascades were underwhelming. Small swimming holes. And lots of wannabe influencers filming themselves . Considering the beauty and swim ability of Florence falls, blueys etc this wasn’t worth it for us. We are older but fit and like to hike but this was just a hot, arduous walk with a very ordinary end result.

Walk down from the top track to the waterfall!
I really loved the Cascades. We walked the upper track because the lower was closed. It was a fair hike especially in thongs lol. Most people stayed around the few shallow pools near the track but we recommend you walk down the rocks a little way to the waterfall. It's the most beautiful spot and we had it petty much all to ourselves.

The lower cascades were shut so we ventured to the upper cascades which was quite a walk so less fit will need to take their time. But it was a beautiful sight that we had all to ourselves for a couple of hours. Could have stayed much longer.

We did the 1.3km each way walk from the car park into the lower Cascades: a lovely, generally shady walk with the last 150m a bit of a rock scramble.

The reward is some delightful little cascading falls and rock holes that are just delightful to take a dip kin: croc free.

One of our favourite spots visite during our four days at Litchfield national park.

This was the most difficult bit of water to get to in the National park, but it was certainly worth it, but don't follow the signage at the front!

At the start, we decided to only do the lower curtain falls and be done with. The longer walk to the upper cascades seemed too far and the picture of Curtain falls seems more inviting.

Once we got to lower Curtain falls and had enjoyed every bit of it, we noticed it is possible to climb above it and walk up stream. This was in July and presumably you couldn't do what we did in the wet season if there was more water. Basically we stepped along the rocks and waded through water. We walked beyond the nominal swimming area and stopped when it started to look too much like a wild jungle. All along the water was gently flowing and we dipped in pools along the way. The place lives up to its name Cascades as the water steps down the rocks until it reaches Curtain falls.

We only met a few other people and it was not as touristy as the more famous falls. Lots of flora and fauna to explore. We saw little varieties of fish in the rock pools, multi coloured dragon files, a monitor lizard and lots of colourful flowers.

To do this, even up to curtain falls one needs to be steady on their feet and have a decent fitness level.

1.7km but if you are walker it's pretty easy.
If not there are river rock sections. Some slightly steep.
BUT...worth it.
Great plunge pool we seem to be lucky and always manage a skinny dip at these places.
Great photo opportunities.
Nice picnic spot.
Great for kids.

Dont believe the signs its more than stated. Lower Falls closed so we took the track to the Upper Falls. It took nearly 2 hours walking over very rocky track at time dangerous. Uphill most of the way, some tracks almost up 90 degrees so very difficult over loose rocks. The actual Falls, small in comparison to others are beautiful, not in my opinion worth the hike. going back down is just as bad if not worse with several down tracks more at risk of injury due to loos rocks. No actual carved stairs, it is defiantly only for very fit people and must wear shoes, hat, sunscreen and water. More than half the track is not covered and very hot in the sun. Is it worth the dangerous hike......... no. It took us nearly 4 hours all round.

1.7kms didn't sound that far but when it is nearly all up hill, steep in parts and rocky, it becomes quite arduous. Meeting people coming back the other way we asked was it worth it and the universal answer was "Hmmmm, maybe" We pressed on regardless but where quite underwhelmed when we arrived. A few small water holes to sit and soak and a larger swimming hole below. Attractive and peaceful but not really worth the walk
