Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent online resource for self guiding. Used in both Darwin and Cairns and was great advice.
Maybe next time I will be organised enough to book far enough in advance to do an in-person tour.

Fantastic web site, great resource. Helped me identify what bird I just spotted in my own backyard! The birdlife in Central Australia is interesting and very engaging.

Thank you Laurie for making this birding guide available. It was super helpful during our recent trip to Cairns / Daintree.

I have used Laurie's directions for birdwatching walks on a couple of business visits to Darwin when I don't have enough time to go out of town but still want to see some wildlife. The directions are clear and the birdlife sightings have been terrific. My favourite so far is Channel Island where I misunderstood Laurie's directions and walked through some spooky history as well as catching some incredible birds. Nightcliff foreshore was another that really delivered. I am often here in the wet season, don't be put off, you can still see lots of birds and wildlife.

My wife and I had a private 7 day tour with Laurie. It was a fabulous experience. Laurie is remarkable in his ability to locate the target birds. This was a photography tour and Laurie was very generous in passing on tips to help improve our photography. We are looking forward to another trip with Laurie in the future.
Laurie’s ability to hear bird calls and find the birds is remarkable. Couple that with an encyclopaedic knowledge of the birds and the result is an amazing bird guide.
Laurie’s understanding of photography means that he gets you into the best positions to get that amazing photo. Time spent in the portable birdhide resulted in excellent images of Papuan Pitta and Palm cockatoos feeding on beach almonds.
The accommodation and meals were excellent and we handled the wet season weather without any difficulty. Wet season is a great time to visit Iron Range.

Our guide, Chris, was fantastic as was our experience. Great lodging and food, and the chance to see more than 170 different species of birds. We are planning another Tracks Birding tour as soon as possible.

Did a small group tour of the top end with Laurie and enjoyed it immensely. Saw even more new birds than I had hoped, often with wonderful views, thanks to a combination of Laurie’s incredible birding skills and I suspect a lot of research and preparation.

He was also excellent company and looked after us incredibly well.

I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to going on another one before too long.

It made for such a great experience to have someone who is just so good at what they do!

A 16-day small group tour to view Grass Wrens in Outback Australia was our first encounter with Laurie's well-reputed ornithological and photographic skills. His obvious research into remote locations, his accurate ears and eyes, coupled with his effervescent enthusiasm and knowledge for birds helped us see and photograph these tricky and often elusive species. We also managed to see many "lifers", but in close proximity as result of Laurie's efforts and experience. As a host he was thoughtful, generous and companionable, always willing to go that extra distance for the comfort of his guests. Highly recommended and lots of fun. We have already booked our next trip with him.

Brilliant free to use guides outlining where to find birds around the Top End, I would 100% recommend for any keen birders visiting the area. Very accurate and useful with great detail, including precise map locations.

Laurie has generously made available detailed info regarding great birding sites in the Northern Territory Top End.

My wife and I recently used these to photograph a range of 'highly sought after' birds, including fantastic views of Great-billed Heron at Donkey Camp Weir near Katherine - a site we would never have found if it wasn't for Laurie.

Many thanks!
