Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have used Laurie's directions for birdwatching walks on a couple of business visits to Darwin when I don't have enough time to go out of town but still want to see some wildlife. The directions are clear and the birdlife sightings have been terrific. My favourite so far is Channel Island where I misunderstood Laurie's directions and walked through some spooky history as well as catching some incredible birds. Nightcliff foreshore was another that really delivered. I am often here in the wet season, don't be put off, you can still see lots of birds and wildlife.

Excellent online resource for self guiding. Used in both Darwin and Cairns and was great advice.
Maybe next time I will be organised enough to book far enough in advance to do an in-person tour.

He absolutely knew where the birds were. He spotted a black falcon as we were whizzing down the road. He also chose great places to eat and to stop for breaks.

My wife and I had a private 7 day tour with Laurie. It was a fabulous experience. Laurie is remarkable in his ability to locate the target birds. This was a photography tour and Laurie was very generous in passing on tips to help improve our photography. We are looking forward to another trip with Laurie in the future.

We spent two weeks in the Top End and around Alice this month, and used Laurie's on-line guides to help us in our birding efforts. Amazingly helpful, they clearly showed us where to look and how to find some tricky stuff. Believe me, the Mangrove Robin in exactly where he says in the Darwin mangroves. One of our highlights was parrots at dawn at the Farmer's Dam on the Santa Teresa road at Alice Springs, and we would never have found it without Laurie's gen. If he as good in person as his write-ups, he shouldn't be missed.

Wish we had found Laurie's 'on the cheap bird guides' before Katherine/Victoria River. However his guides for Darwin and Kakadu were excellent and extremely helpful. Having been on a guided tour two years ago we knew where and what we wanted to see, but his notes were detailed and very generous considering the fact that bird and photography tours are his business. Still didn't find the Purple-crowned Fairy-wren!

Our day with Laurie Ross was wonderful, far exceeding our expectations. He really knows the birds, their call, their locations and their natural histories. He also took good care of his birders. He kept a bird list for us and provided a constant supply of cool water, as well as morning tea, lunch and restroom stops. On this very memorable day we saw 79 different species of birds.

Laurie took me around the best spots to find the birds I was after in Darwin and he did not disappoint. I saw (and photographed) all the species I wanted plus more! Super organised, friendly and professional - I wouldn;t hesitate to recommend him for your birding trip. Thanks Laurie!

Fantastic web site, great resource. Helped me identify what bird I just spotted in my own backyard! The birdlife in Central Australia is interesting and very engaging.
